CATCH A WAVE
“This beautiful waved style is all about getting volume at the roots. Apply Organic Colour Systems Curl Memory evenly through the hair, then dry the roots well using your fingers to lift them. Set the hair loosely with large heated rollers and once dry, take the rollers out and gently backcomb the roots.” Karine Jackson, Hair Stylist
LASTING LIPS
“To achieve gorgeous lip colour that stands the test of time, take a nude gel liner and line and fill the lip to your desired shape. Wait a few minutes before adding lip colour, blot, then reapply for longlasting colour and wear.” Nigel Barnes, Make-up Artist

INSIDER Q&A Worst bridezilla moment? Me – when I got my family to plant and landscape the garden based on my wedding palette! Top budget tip? If your venue permits it (and doesn’t charge a hefty corkage fee), bring in your own alcohol. Majestic (majestic.co.uk) offer a great service and have fantastic wine experts on hand. Any bottles that are unopened (and returned in a saleable condition) are also fully refunded. Favourite part of a wedding? An easy one – the moment the couple first lock eyes during the ceremony. Priceless. Biggest mistake couples make? Taking too much on themselves, not realising the amount of time that goes into planning a wedding. Trust in talented suppliers and allow them to deliver your dream. Hottest trend for 2018? My advice is not to prescribe to the ‘in’ colour or ‘in’ detail. Focus on what represents you!
IMAGES (CLOCKWISE FROM TOP LEFT): YELLOW BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY; M & J PHOTOGRAPHY; ANN-KATHRIN KOCH; M & J PHOTOGRAPHY; GABRIELA SILVEIRA, PYRUS BOTANICALS
Wear your wedding shoes in, and pack some fancy flats. There’s nothing worse than sore feet a few hours into your wedding day. Along with that, pack a ‘care kit’ that you can have a bridesmaid look after, for any little touch-ups through the day and evening. Next time you’re at a wedding, count up the number of leftover favours at the end of the evening. If you’re on a budget, they’re something you can pop into ‘Optional Extras’! It’s nice to layer up the entertainment in the evening, so consider booking a photo booth or having a dressing-up box for the dance floor with some silly props. The thrill of the photo booth never dies! Along with the first dance, get a group ‘last dance’ tune decided. It’s such a fun and memorable way to round off the big day. A wedding takes many hours to plan and set up, so be realistic with what’s manageable alongside your working/family life, and see what additional support you can call on – whether it be from a trusted wedding planner or supportive family member. Don’t forget the de-rig! Once the confetti has settled and everyone’s gone home, there’s a wedding to pack up. Make sure you get others to do this for you as you want to be enjoying your first day of marital bliss, not lost in boxes, tapes, lugging and lifting.

Settle up with suppliers a good week before the day – some don’t require you to pay until just before, but trust me, you’ll want time to relax beforehand, which means as little admin as possible! It can be so hard to know how to divide up your budget and what you can afford to spend on things like food and drink. As a guideline, no more
than 50 per cent of your budget should go on the venue, food and drink, which allows 50 per cent for everything else. Seating plans can be hard work! To start, sit yourselves somewhere where most people can see you easily – they’ll want to look over at the newlyweds during dinner. Sit the ‘young people’ near to areas where the waiters will be walking through (they won’t mind so much) and the more mature guests in areas where they won’t be disrupted. Styling your wedding tables has become a must-do for a lot of brides, however hiring in fancy linens, special crockery and upgraded cutlery can eat into your budget. To cut costs, use a plain white cloth (usually included with your venue) and add a
3
4
napkin in a bold colour to add impact! You may think you need an order of service for each guest, but in actual fact couples and families tend to share so I would suggest printing enough for about 75 per cent of your guests. Conversely, have a few more ceremony chairs than there are guests as people tend to leave spaces inbetween groups. If your hair and make-up stylist hasn’t already instructed you on preparations, ask them how you and your bridesmaids should prep your hair and skin – depending on the styling, you may need to arrive with wet, damp or completely dry hair, and sometimes stylists ask you not to moisturise as this can affect the make-up finish.

INSIDER Q&A Worst bridezilla moment? Groomzilla actually – being threatened to “get the string quartet to play that music, or else”, the night before a wedding when the string quartet did not have time to get an appropriate arrangement for the music! Most embarrassing wedding moment? A champagne tower collapsing just as the bride and groom made their entrance! Favourite part of a wedding? When the bride and groom see their venue all set up on the day. There are often lots of gasps! Biggest mistake couples make? Spreading the budget for food/ drink and entertainment too thinly. It’s what guests remember. Hottest trend for 2018? Bespoke, unique and humorous wedding ceremonies, using independent wedding celebrants. PERFECT WEDDING • 49

INSIDER Q&A Worst bridezilla moment? We’re noticing more groomzillas recently – lots of guys know what they want and aren’t afraid to ask! Most embarrassing wedding moment? At a marquee wedding last year, we noticed the caterers’ deep fat fryer was draining more generator fuel than we all thought, so we had to do trips to the nearest petrol station with cannisters – all the while smelling like two exhaust pipes! Favourite part of a wedding? The speeches! We’re often weeping and laughing along with the rest of the guests. Biggest mistake couples make? Timing. Getting married too early and having to fill with food and entertainment, or not allowing enough time for things like tables being cleared or guests moving from one place to another. Hottest trend for 2018? Greenery is still up there, teamed with acrylic, and nude colour palettes. And statement chairs, which really transform a space! PW
IMAGES (CLOCKWISE FROM TOPLEFT): XANDER AND THEA PHOTOGRAPHY; XANDER AND THEA PHOTOGRAPHY; MARYANNE WEDDINGS; XANDER AND THEA PHOTOGRAPHY; BRANCO PRATA; CHRISTOPHER IAN
When drafting your guest list, label your must-haves as your A-list, your would-like-to-haves as your B-list, and your ‘not the end of the world if they weren’t there’ as your C-list. That way, you have flexibility when venue hunting, and you can also send out your A-list invites earlier so any declines can be filled with none-the-wiser B-list guests. Don’t waste budget and order the same size cake as your number of guests – account for around 20 per cent less, as lots of guests won’t eat it. Order more chairs, extra table linen and a few more place settings. If you have spares, it’s easier if something goes walkabout or you end up inviting extra people and forget to tell your hire company last minute. Speeches always overrun. Even if you’ve told your speakers to be 10 minutes, they will be at least 20 (remember there will be pause for applause!). Allow for this so your caterers (and planners!) aren’t worrying about the knock-on effect the delay will have on the rest of the night. Don’t assume anything. Whether it’s your venue promising things for free or supplier timings – get it in writing. The same goes for your bridal party – a little briefing goes a long way! The life of a planner is not as glam as people think – we don’t wear heels or headsets, we do lots of heavy lifting and we very rarely go to cake tastings! It’s hard work but we love creating perfect days for our couples.

WE TREATED FOUR REAL BRIDES TO A PRIVATE CONSULTATION WITH SOME OF THE UK’S BEST-LOVED DESIGNERS. BUT DID THEY FIND ‘THE ONE’?

EXPERT STYLE ADVICE
SEARCH#1
THE DESIGNER: KEN YEH, PART OF DESIGN DUO KENNETH WINSTON
THE BRIDE: MEGAN CLOSE
THE ONE
Ken says: “This is a perfect blend of fishtail train and flattering A-line but without the pouffiness. The strapless, sweetheart neckline will show off your shoulders and the belt brings it all together.” Megan says: “I like the way the material skims the hips and then falls to the floor and I love all the beading.”
BRIDE’S DILEMMA: “I’m pear-shaped, and I want something to show off my waist and give me the illusion of smaller hips. I’ve tried fishtails, which I love, but I don’t think they suit me. I’m so torn – can you help?”
2
STYLE 1738, KENNETH WINSTON £1,585 Ken says: “This dress has ‘vintage glam’ written all over it, combining the fitted look you’re drawn to, but with a looser cut that flares out from the hips. This shape is so flattering and will highlight your waist.” Megan says: “This is such a beautiful dress, and I love the lace, but it’s just slightly too low cut for me.”
1
STYLE 1733, KENNETH WINSTON £1,640
3
STYLE BE295, ELLA ROSA £1,495
Ken says: “I love this dress as it’s so easy to look good in. This is a dropped-waist design that is simple yet elegant. The lines are clean, and it hugs the body at the top before flowing into the skirt. And that train – lovely!” Megan says: “I love this dress and the train is gorgeous, but I’m not sure about the overall look – it’s a bit too plain for my liking.”
BRIDE’S “I think number one – Style 1733 – will really flatter my VERDICT: shape and I love the delicate beading. It’s a winner!” 70 • PERFECT WEDDING

STYLE BT18-27, BEAUTIFUL BY ENZOANI £1,245
Kang Chun says: “A-line dresses are hugely popular as they look great on all body shapes, including a petite frame. This dress has a fairytale vibe without feeling super voluminous. The lace bodice is cinched with a belt to accentuate the waist and add an extra pop of colour.” Thuy-Tien says: “The split overlay skirt is so unique, which I love. I like the idea of pulling in my waist with a belt as well. I’m not keen on the lace, though – it’s slightly too uniform for me.”
3
THE BRIDE: THUY-TIEN TRINH
THE DESIGNER: KANG CHUN LIN AT ENZOANI
BRIDE’S DILEMMA: “I’m very petite but I don’t want a short wedding dress. I really like the idea of a long, A-line gown with a lace top, but will this suit my body shape?”
2
KOREN, BLUE BY ENZAONI £1,350
KODIE, BLUE BY ENZOANI £1,740
Kang Chun says: “If you’re unsure about an A-line silhouette, Kodie is a perfect compromise between flowy and figure-hugging.” Thuy-Tien says: “The combination between a mermaid and an A-line shape is brilliant! I love the overlay tulle skirt – the lace at the bottom is stunning.”
THE ONE
Kang Chun says: “Koren is a super-soft, romantic gown with a delicate tulle skirt and latte-coloured lining that hits all the right notes for a light and airy look. A sweet tulle sash at the waist also flatters the figure and highlights the intricate lace bodice.” Thuy-Tien says: “The lace bodice is so delicate and pretty, and the neckline is lovely. The tulle skirt is just a little bit too simple than what I’d go for though.”
BRIDE’S “Number three, Kodie, is beautiful and the shape means I don’t have VERDICT: to choose between two dress types, as I can have both – perfect!” PERFECT WEDDING • 71

THE BRIDE: ALEX WILSON
THE DESIGNER: REGINE ELLIS AT ELLIS BRIDALS
BRIDE’S DILEMMA: “I have a broad back and shoulders and I’m pear-shaped (size 12 on top and 14 on the bottom). I’d love a floorlength gown that flatters my shape.”
2
STYLE 18105, ELLIS BRIDALS £1,050 Regine says: “For the perfect silhouette, this is your dress! The illusion neckline draws in the eye, while the embellished lace flowing to the waist will give you an enviable shape. The layered tulle skirt gives the impression of longer legs.” Alex says: “The skirt is absolutely beautiful and I can picture myself dancing the night away – barefoot and carefree! I adore the lace and I think this gown would definitely balance my shape.”
STYLE 12287, ELLIS BRIDALS £1,380
Regine says: “Choose a dress to celebrate your features – not disguise them! Use your gorgeous shoulders to your advantage in this dramatic off-the-shoulder lace style. The scalloped neckline is so striking, while the careful construction of the dress will highlight your waist and showcase curves.” Alex says: “I have to say, I do adore the off-the-shoulder neckline. I would never have considered this type of dress before, but the layered skirt is a total knockout.”
3
STYLE 19105, ELLIS BRIDALS £1,799
THE ONE
Regine says: “This dress is a perfect blend of modern boho and traditional. The sweetheart bodice will give you a feminine silhouette, while the lace across the sleeves is so flattering. The movement in this flowing skirt is a wonder to watch.” Alex says: “This dress is an absolute dream. The long sleeves make it perfect for autumn, without looking too heavy. This dress is just out of my budget, but it’s so clear it’s worth every penny!”
BRIDE’S “As soon as I saw number three I fell in love! It has everything I hoped VERDICT: for in a dress. I would love to try it on and see how it moves and feels.” 72 • PERFECT WEDDING

SEARCH#4 STYLE 840, MARTINA LIANA £3,099
Martine says: “It really doesn’t get more romantic than delicately beaded sleeves! With a slightly sheer bodice, this gown’s illusion lace and tulle sleeves give you just the right amount of coverage, while the playful skirt brings the drama!” Samantha says: “I absolutely love the delicate details on this one, especially the beading on the arms and the back. Gorgeous!”
2
STYLE 6353, STELLA YORK £1,399
Martine says: “The perfect combination of classic bridal style and on-trend details, this dress is a real gem! An off-the-shoulder neckline is so hot right now, and lace sleeves are super romantic. The fit-and-flare silhouette is sexy and flattering.” Samantha says: “I’m mad for the neckline and I think the mermaid silhouette will really suit my shape.”
THE BRIDE: SAMANTHA WALL
THE DESIGNER:
MARTINE HARRIS AT ESSENSE OF AUSTRALIA
BRIDE’S DILEMMA: “I’m a size 10–12, and I want a dress that covers my arms. I love the idea of lace sleeves, but I’m not sure they’ll suit me. I have a DD chest, so I don’t want a strapless gown or anything too low cut.”
THE ONE
3
STYLE 791, MARTINA LIANA £1,899
Martine says: “This modern wedding dress takes sleeves up a notch! With an amazing cowl back and sleek silhouette, this gown is perfect if you want something clean, contemporary and chic. I love how you can really play up the simple lines of this dress by adding accessories to give it your own unique style.” Samantha says: “I really love the low back and sleek design of this dress. It’s so modern and cool.”
BRIDE’S “There’s no contest... I adore everything about number two – the VERDICT: neckline, silhouette and sleeves. This is the dress of my dreams!”

These can be personalised to suit the child’s age and can include almost anything from colouring books and stickers to board games and paints. But, if you really want to ensure young children don’t spoil the speeches, I’d suggest hiring an entertainer like a magician or balloon modeller to keep them occupied in another room.

SILVER CUBIC ZIRCONIA CASCADE NECKLACE, BEAVERBROOKS £275
FASHION I have a straight up and down figure. What dress style will give me curves? Nicola, 33 Donna: The key is to create curves by nipping in your waist and broadening your hips. Wedding dresses with full skirts will give you a lovely feminine shape and a plunging neckline will give the illusion of a fuller bust. Our gorgeous Valentia gown (pictured right) has it all, along with a beautiful embellished belt to accentuate your waist even further. Voilà!
JEWELLERY Q. I NEVER WEAR EARRINGS, BUT I’M HAVING AN UPDO. DO YOU THINK I SHOULD WEAR SOME ON THE BIG DAY? SARAH, 27 LORNA: A PAIR OF PRETTY EARRINGS WILL BE THE PERFECT FINISHING TOUCH TO YOUR WEDDING DAY LOOK – AND A HINT OF SPARKLE CAN REALLY LIGHT UP YOUR FACE. BUT, IF YOU DON’T

BEAUTY Q. I’M REALLY CONSCIOUS OF MY STAINED TEETH. HOW DO I GET A BRIGHT, WHITE SMILE FOR THE BIG DAY? MELISSA, 28
GETTY IMAGES
RICHARD: THE FIRST THING TO DO IS TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR DENTIST OR HYGIENIST FOR A GOOD TEETH CLEANING SESSION AS THIS WILL REMOVE ANY STUBBORN STAINS. THEN, YOU MAY WISH TO CONSIDER PROFESSIONAL TEETH WHITENING WHICH CAN GUARANTEE A WHITE SMILE FOR YOUR WEDDING SNAPS. OR, A LESS DRASTIC OPTION WOULD BE USING AN ATHOME TEETH WHITENING TOOTHPASTE WHICH WILL HELP YOU TO POLISH UP THOSE PEARLY WHITES FOR THE BIG DAY. PRETTY FAIRY LIGHTS ADD AN AIR OF ROMANCE
DÉCOR My partner and I aren’t overly keen on flowers – what other ways can we decorate our barn venue? Lindsey, 35
GETTY IMAGES
Melanie: Balloons are a hit for modern weddings as they come in a vast array of colours and can be creatively styled to suit your venue. Plus, they make great photo props! Another way to add atmosphere is with the use of clever lighting. Hire fairy lights or go for groups of candles to really lift your space.
FASHION FRAGRANCE Q. I WANT A PERFUME THAT LASTS ALL DAY SO I DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT RE-APPLYING. WHAT SORT OF SCENTS SHOULD I GO FOR? HEIDI, 29 EDWARD: THE FIRST THING TO NOTE IS THAT AN EAU DE PARFUM WILL GENERALLY LAST LONGER THAN AN EAU DE TOILETTE AS IT HAS A HIGHER PERCENTAGE OF FRAGRANCE OILS. I’D ALSO RECOMMEND FINDING A SCENT WITH BASE NOTES OF MUSK, VANILLA OR AMBER AS THESE LAST WELL. ONE LAST TIP IS TO SPRITZ PERFUME ON YOUR HAIR AS WELL AS YOUR PULSE POINTS TO PROLONG THE SCENT.

BLUEBELL, DONNA SALADO £POA
Q. WE GOT MARRIED ABROAD BUT WE ARE HAVING A BIG PARTY IN LONDON. WHAT SORT OF OUTFIT SHOULD I WEAR FOR IT? Emily, 31 Donna: If you don’t want to wear your original gown and are looking for something a little less formal, you can always go for a shorter style. Our Bluebell gown (pictured above) has party chic written all over it. I love the sweetheart bodice and the soft devore skirt is perfect for twirling around that dance floor.

WHERE TO
Not sure where to start? Here are those all-important ceremony details…
T
he first thing to do is talk openly with your fiancé about the day you want. The main ceremony options are:
1. CHURCH OF ENGLAND You may have to attend a number of Sunday services beforehand. The marriage can be authorised by calling banns on three consecutive Sundays three months before the day, or by obtaining a common licence. Church fees are from £456 in your home parish, with extra costs for choir, organ, etc. In Scotland, banns aren’t necessary, but 15 days’ notice must be given at a register office. 2. ROMAN CATHOLIC Take your baptism and confirmation certificates to your priest at least six months before — if one of you is unbaptised then the priest needs to give permission. You may have to attend marriage preparation talks and Mass for six weeks before your wedding day. Visit your local superintendent registrar to give notice and obtain your marriage licence. Fees vary. 3. JEWISH You’ll need one application for your local register office and one for the religious authorities.
4. CIVIL CEREMONY Book your slot at a register office less than 12 months and more than 17 days in advance. You must have been resident in England/Wales for seven days before visiting your local registrar to give notice, and the fee is £35 each to give notice. A register office wedding costs £46. If the ceremony is held elsewhere, you’ll need to pay for a registrar to attend.

THE LEGAL BIT You and your fiancé must be at least 16 to be legally married. In England and Wales, if either of you is under 18 years of age, then you must have your parent or guardian’s permission. In Scotland you don’t need parental permission if you are over 18.
You must not be closely related to each other and you must both be free to marry. The marriage must take place in legal premises, such as a register office, religious venue or a licensed venue.
The marriage must take place in the presence of a registrar or official. Two witnesses must be present who are old enough to understand the ceremony.

What is the difference between civil partnership and marriage? A: Apart from the wording and process of the actual ceremonies, the main differences come down to legalities. For example, civil partners do not have the same pension rights as married couples. Visit gov.uk for a detailed guide to the comparisons.
Can I convert my civil partnership to a marriage? A: Yes – you can visit your local register office for a straightforward conversion or have a ceremony at an approved venue with a registrar. You’ll both need to be present and bring proof of ID and of your civil partnership – you’ll then be issued with a marriage certificate. For more info, visit thegayweddingguide.co.uk
Can same-sex couples have a church wedding? A: Yes, but only if the governing body of the religious organisation has opted in to consent of same-sex marriage, the individual minister is happy to conduct the marriage and the church itself is registered for same-sex ceremonies.
Which churches recognise same-sex weddings? A: The Jewish and Quaker churches offer same-sex ceremonies – you’ll just need to give notice to the register office 16 days before the ceremony. Same-sex weddings cannot currently take place in Anglican churches.

eing from a creative background, I knew that our day would be a DIY affair. We wanted a wedding that represented who we are as a couple, and only we could do that. When we looked round The West Mill in Derby, we knew that this was the place to bring our vision to life! My bridesmaid is a freelance illustrator, so she offered to design our stationery for us. We chose a very natural, hand-drawn design which worked perfectly for our venue, as the mill has bags of character so we didn’t want to overdo it with the décor. We then used this floral design throughout our whole wedding. For our tables, we collected jars which I sprayed with gold, bronze and silver paint. Some were used as candles and others filled with dried lavender and eucalyptus. We also sourced a selection of succulent plants and lanterns to incorporate a little bit of Morocco (where we got engaged). When it came to my dress, I didn’t want anything traditional. I tried on numerous designs but nothing felt quite right, so when I discovered Needle & Thread (needleandthread.com) I fell in love! I ordered a long-sleeved gown with lots of embellishment the detailing made it feel so special. My best idea was having a music duo play throughout the day hearing them sing Latch by Sam Smith as I married my best friend was unforgettable.

I
’m from Barbados, so I wanted to treat all of our visiting friends to the most beautiful Caribbean wedding on my island. There was an expectation of a beach affair, but we didn’t want to get sandy so opted for a ceremony in the tropical gardens of the Graeme Hall Nature Sanctuary (graemehall.com) followed by a cliffside reception with a sea view at Champers restaurant (champersrestaurant.com). Our guests flew out to the island a week before the wedding, so everyone got to know each other before the big day. A lot of our DIY touches were developed to help the overseas guests with the heat! We bought 100 white hand towels and soaked these in water and eucalyptus scented oil, then put them in the freezer the night before the wedding. These were perfect for cooling our guests on their arrival at Champers. We also sourced white parasol umbrellas for guests to shade themselves during the ceremony. A Caribbean wedding doesn’t have to mean bright colours, so I chose muted pinks and touches of gold for a more elegant look. My bouquet was handtied, loose and whispy using seeded

eucalyptus, white gingers, white orchids, roses, ivy, misty blue and white lisianthus. Because of the tropical climate most of the flowers had to be imported, but they matched perfectly. Finding my dress was a little more difficult! I work for Perfect Wedding, so I’d seen so many beautiful designs that I just couldn’t choose. However, the fabulous team at Mirror Mirror boutique in London (mirrormirror.uk.com) helped me decide on an absolutely stunning design by Pronovias. The wedding day was a huge adrenalin rush. It was hard not to cry as I walked down the aisle and saw everyone’s faces smiling at me. We were so glad that we chose to get married in Barbados… there’s even talk of an anniversary reunion next year! GUESTS TRAVELLED FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD TO SEE THE PAIR GET MARRIED!

e wanted a wedding that was sophisticated and elegant with a nod to old-school glamour, so we searched for a venue that had that kind of vibe. We fell in love with Amalfi White it’s an old building with an amazing ballroom topped off by huge chandeliers. Renowned for excellent food and service, it was the perfect size for our intimate wedding and it had a lovely outdoor space to hold our reception drinks and photographs. In terms of colours, we chose quite a relaxed, neutral palette my bridesmaids wore blush pink, and our flowers were soft peach and cream with lots of foliage. The dress code for guests was ‘black tie and cocktail dresses’, which added a little glamour. Before the wedding, I requested each guest’s favourite love song and downloaded them onto a playlist. We then ordered bespoke CD covers from Etsy and I hand-wrote a personal note on each one to give as favours. It cost around £50 to put together what was a very personal momento of our day. One of the highlights of the whole thing were the speeches, which we held in the garden before the wedding breakfast. We have both been married before so our children did their own speeches it was so emotional hearing their lovely words. Mark then blew me away with a poem he had written for me. It really was the perfect day.

aul’s surprise proposal came in 2016, when we were visiting the Pig on the Beach Hotel in Dorset. We fell in love with this beautiful corner of the world, so when it came to choosing a venue for the wedding, the nearby Studland Bay House was perfect in every way. We loved the fact that it was near the coast, with fantastic views of the sea, and there were nine double bedrooms for all our family to stay in. The garden was scattered with pine trees which reminded me of Portugal (where my mother is from). Although we didn’t have a theme as such, I wanted the look to be quite classic but accented with colourful details. We used lots of fairy lights, had handembroidered umbrellas floating from the ceiling, confetti-filled balloons tied to the chairs and bright flowers on the tables. We did quite a lot ourselves, including the naked wedding cake with edible flowers, which we displayed on a tree slice that Paul’s father had cut down and sanded himself. As a nod to my heritage, we gave out Port wine favours which were from a friend who owns a vineyard in Portugal, and my sister chalked-up our table plan and displayed it on an easel. Our ceremony was at the local church in Studland St Nicolas. It’s a very old church and just beautiful inside. My sister read The Future by Emma Salmon, which was a really emotional moment. We loved everything about our day, and the stunning sea views made it feel like a holiday!

etting married in spring meant that we wanted a really fresh and elegant look for our day, so we chose pale pinks, cream and ivy green with a dash of glitter thrown in! When it came to our ceremony, there was only one choice it had to be my childhood church. I used to imagine what it would be like to get married there when I was at school. Two of the hymns we sang were songs I used to sing so it was really special to have that link to the past. For our reception, we chose the beautiful Nanpantan Hall we were blown away by its spectacular setting in the Leicestershire countryside. Being an exclusive-use venue, it meant we could really personalise our day. To add meaning, we named our tables after our favourite holiday destinations,

and our favours were scratch cards from a local charity that we support. We really enjoyed collecting things in the year leading up to the wedding to remind us of all of the wonderful things we had done in the time we were engaged. Our place settings were champagne and prosecco corks collected by our friends and family to bring together all of the celebrations that had gone on in that year! We were particularly proud of our candle jars they were coffee jars and we painted the top section with PVA glue and dipped them into glitter they worked really well! Our cake was also made by Tom’s mum and sister, which was an amazing gift and personal touch. Our wedding really was the best day of our lives. : BIG SMALL Wha your wedding style? IS YOUR DREAM DAY A COSY CELEBRATION, OR A NO-HOLDS BARRED ALL-DAYER? HERE’S WHY WE LOVE BOTH…

INTIMATE GATHERING
1
By keeping guest numbers low, it means you are going to know and love every single person there. How amazing to be surrounded by friends and family who’ve been part of your life forever? Best stock up on some mansize tissues in advance, there will be tears…
2
Let’s cut to the chase here, a small, intimate wedding is going to save you serious bucks. You can spend those savings on serving the most incredible food for your guests, bagging your dream reception venue or putting it towards your honeymoon. Or, you could just buy that pair of a-mayzing Jimmy Choos you’ve been eyeing up for, like, ever. Just saying…
3
If the thought of a sea of faces staring back at you as you walk down the aisle is your worst nightmare, or your husband-to-be freaks out at the very suggestion of doing a speech in front of more than, errr, just you, it’s fair to assume a huge wedding day isn’t the best option. No one wants to feel daunted on their big day, so high-five to keeping it close-knit.
4
There’s so much freedom when you choose to go for an intimate day. When it’s just the two of you, or a handful of close friends and family, no one expects you to stick with tradition and do speeches, a first dance or even favours. It’s completely your call.
5
When numbers are low, that dream wedding abroad is so much more achievable. Asking 100+ guests to fly to Mauritius for your beach ceremony is a bit of an ask, but those closest to you will likely jump at the chance to combine your wedding with a sunny holiday!
6
The smaller the guest list, the more chance you have to talk to everyone. Having the time to sit with the VERDICT people you love more than anything, on IF YOU’RE A LOW-KEY COUPLE WHO HATE THE the best day of your life, is very special. LIMELIGHT, THROW AWAY THE RULE BOOK Imagine the wedding breakfast when you AND ORGANISE A MELLOW DAY WITH JUST can all fit around one big table – so cool! YOUR CLOSEST FRIENDS AND FAMILY.
FIND YOUR STYLE
BLOW-THEBUDGET PARTY
1
The more people you invite, the more love and joy that’s going to be floating around the room/marquee/ field. Just imagine seeing a smiling face everywhere you turn, with queues of friends and family wanting to hug you, congratulate you and tell you how it’s the “BEST. DAY. EVER!”
2
You’re never going to get this opportunity again, so use your wedding as the perfect excuse to throw the biggest, once-in-a-lifetime party. If your heart soars at the thought of all your friends and family hitting the dance floor until the early hours, you know it’s the right choice…

A big wedding means anything goes. You can finally put all those ideas you’ve spotted in issues of Perfect Wedding and on Pinterest into reality. Fireworks? Go for it! Floral arch? Knock yourself out! Sparkler send-off? Well, it would be rude not to!
4
Just think of the stories you can tell the grandkids when you’re old and wrinkly – not to mention the awesome photos you’ll be able to show them of your immense blow-the-budget day. You don’t want to look back and regret not going all-out for your W-day, if that’s what’s in your heart.
5
Ahhh, the dreaded guest list. Possibly the cause of most wedding-planning arguments. But if you opt for a big celebration, you can forget about the stress of having to debate over who to cut from the list due to restricted numbers – especially if you’ve both got large families.
6
When else are you going to have the chance to get people from all the different parts of your life together for a massive knees-up? There’s something truly heartwarming (and a little hilarious) about watching your great aunt getting spun around the dance floor by one of your husband’s ushers. PW
VERDICT IF YOU’RE A PAIR OF LOVED-UP PARTY ANIMALS WHO WANT A STAND-OUT DAY YOU (AND YOUR GUESTS) REALLY WILL REMEMBER FOREVER, GO BIG!

he beautiful Orangery at 16th-century manor, Dillington House, played host to this dreamy shoot. A collaberation between photographer Liz Baker, stylist Beth Ralph and florist Jacalyn Arscott, we love the relaxed yet sophisticated vibes. “The inspiration came from the elements: to bring the outside in with all its wildness, without sacrificing elegance,” explains Liz. “Foraged branches, lilac blooms, a fruit-laden table and Mantilla veil give this theme a sunny, almost Mediterranean feel.” PW

“In the run-up to the wedding, I taught myself the art of faux calligraphy which became a staple in all our wedding signage, including our seating plan. I sprayed some wire boards gold, then attached artificial banana leaves, cute little cacti pots, a printed list of names for the tables, hydrangeas and flamingos using a glue gun.” Cathy Summers

A HAND-BUILT BAR AND HOME-BREWED BEER? THAT'S OUR KIND OF RECEPTION!

“Our reception was at a rustic barn, which hadn’t held weddings before, so it was very much a project. With the help of my father-in-law, we built a bar area from scratch and named it after our Golden Retriever, Tewkesbury. We used old bits of wood and palettes to make the frame, then styled it up with DIY pom poms, light-up letters and wooden signs saying ‘Tewkesbury’s Tavern’. We even brewed our own beer to serve to guests!” Brianne Fletcher

“My husband’s mum is a keen gardener and offered to grow all of our wedding flowers, which we styled with crates and watering cans to create a real focal point. The plants added a personal touch and the reaction of our guests when they entered the room was overwhelming. It was amazing how foliage transformed the venue.” Claire Wheeler

“When it came to our wedding, I knew exactly the style of cake I wanted, but I didn’t want to buy it from a baker I didn’t know. I did a two-day ‘Modern Cake Making’ class at Blue Door Bakery (bluedoorbakery. co.uk) and baked the cakes in advance. I then covered them in chocolate ganache, ready for decorating. Making my actual wedding cake was a joyful experience. I proudly told our guests I made it myself, but I must admit I was a bit tearful when we cut into it!” Kerri Williams
7
“We love the signage at Glastonbury, so James imitated the font and freehand-sketched the letters onto some pallets donated by his dad. We sourced paint tester pots from Wickes in the colours we liked, so overall they were really low cost! For the pom poms, we bought some wool from St Nick’s market in Bristol, some pom pom makers in different sizes from Amazon and sat for quite a few evenings making pom poms in front of the TV!” Leiha Parry

“A couple of years ago, I read an article in Simply Crochet magazine about an American architect called Chi Krneta who designed and made her own wedding dress on her daily commute to work! She looked absolutely stunning in it, so I purchased Chi’s crochet pattern for the same dress from her store on Ravelry (ravelry. com). The gown took me several months to complete but was actually quite simple. When people saw the final results I had so many compliments – it felt so special because it was handmade.” Anna Speed

“Getting married in October meant sourcing lots of colourful flowers would be challenging and out of our budget, so I started researching and came across incredible paper flowers on Pinterest. I found tutorials on YouTube, then ordered loads of doublette crepe paper in beautiful colours, along with stamen, fabrics, wires and floristry tape. It became clear that this was going to be a labour of love and would take a lot of man hours (a large rose took over an hour to make!), so I enlisted help from my bridesmaid and my wonderful mum. It was such fun sitting around the kitchen table chatting while we decided what colours, patterns and textures would go together.” Julie Marshall

HARRIET’S MACRAMÉ HANGINGS CREATED A BEAUTIFUL, BOHO VIBE

“I have been making homemade greeting cards since I left college, but used my engagement as an excuse to be a bit more adventurous. Using my love of blush pink and rose gold as my starting point, I bought patterned paper, embossed paper and ribbon from Imagine DIY (imaginediy.co.uk) and made our save the dates, day and evening invitations, table names, place cards, table plan and activity books! I felt very proud of what I achieved and honoured to hear all of the amazing comments people made.” Ann-Marie Watson

“I love the look of macramé, so I did an evening class at a little gift shop in Exeter called No Guts No Glory (ngngdesign.com). I then sourced all my macramé cord from them, and hired all the plants from them too! The hangers looked absolutely stunning trailing down above our tables.” PW Harriet de Winton

1. Allow WAY more time than you think for your projects. Start early and call in help from family and friends as the day draws nearer. 2.Think about who will style your amazing DIYs and venue on the actual day. A wedding stylist can be well worth the spend, as they will usually take care of the clear up the day after as well. 3. Assess whether your project is cost effective on a big scale. Some things actually work out cheaper to simply buy yourself.

MAKE IT!
If you have time, cover your numbers in a base coat of white first, but if not you can just go straight in with colour! Start at the top of your numbers – we
began with blue and gently spray painted the top of each number. Next, spray paint the orange – we wanted the pink to really ‘pop’ and knew if we sprayed the orange last it would cover it up too much. Finally, spray paint the two different shades of pink, starting with the light pink then adding the bold Berry Pink afterwards. Allow to fully dry and then repeat steps one to three, adding a second layer of coat to each number. PERFECT WEDDING • 175

The pros at The English Stamp Company (englishstamp.com) tell us how it’s done… 1. Prepare your area Make sure you have a flat, even surface and plenty of room. Practise first to ensure you’ve mastered your inking technique, using the amount of pressure required. 2. Keep it simple Don’t feel you have to overcomplicate your stationery. For a chic no-fuss look, simply stamp the edges of pre-printed invites, favours and envelopes. 3. Think outside the box Stamps aren’t just for paper. With the right ink or paint, you can stamp pebble place settings, seed packets for favours, bunting fabric, table runners and even balloons. 4. Be ink savvy Don’t be too heavy-handed with the ink – tapping the ink pad over the stamp will give you a much clearer result than pushing the stamp into the ink which can flood your design. 5. Glitz it up While metallic inks add a luxurious finish to any stamp, embossing takes it a step further. Embossing your stamped images will add an elegant, raised effect to your design with an extra bit of shimmer and sparkle.

EAT
YOURSELF BEAUTIFUL Look and feel amazing from the inside out – for W-day and beyond
Let’s be honest, who doesn’t want a clear, glowing complexion on their wedding day? Your skin is often a representation of what’s going on on the inside of your body – so, what exactly do you eat to achieve said glow? Antioxidantrich, anti-inflammatory foods such as leafy green veggies, berries and pomegranates are packed full of Vitamin C, supporting collagen production and protecting from UV rays and free radicals. Pay attention to your digestive tract too – poor digestion can lead to problem skin. Chowing down on lots of fermented foods such as sauerkraut, kimchi and tempeh creates lots of healthy bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract helping to heal inflamed skin from within. Probiotics are formed in the fermentation process too, keeping your gut full of good bacteria!

ALWAYS LISTEN TO YOUR GUT
SAUERKRAUT AND KIMCHI ARE GREAT FOR YOUR DIGESTION
ALL IMAGES: GETTY IMAGES
SKIN RADIANCE
BEAT THE BLOAT
The last thing you want to feel on your big day is bloated and uncomfortable. The usual culprits are dehydration and digestive issues (that pesky gut again!), but the good news is you can totally set your body straight. Avoiding processed foods and adding probiotics like natural yoghurt, and foods high in water content like watermelon and cucumber into your diet is a great way to heal your gut and keep hydrated from the inside out. For bonus points, get in the habit of starting the day with a glass of room temperature water with a little lemon this will help to reduce the amount of salt retained in your body, meaning a flatter tummy. Yay! DID YOU KNOW THAT WATERMELON IS AROUND 93 PER CENT WATER?!
FIGHT FATIGUE
OYSTERS AREN’T JUST FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY
GET IT NAILED
We know, we know, you’ve probably got your manicure all booked in for a few days before the wedding, so you don’t need to worry about your nails, right? But when it comes to strong and healthy nails, no amount of pampering will beat the results that come with a nourishing diet. Upping your intake of lean protein with fish, tofu, spinach and eggs, and zinc with kidney beans, pumpkin seeds and oysters will give you beautiful, resilient, chip-resistant nails. No need to worry when popping the champagne on W-day morning then!
ALWAYS TIRED? UP YOUR IRON & PROTEIN
All that planning has probably taken its toll on your energy levels and the last thing you want is to feel burnt out by the time W-day arrives trust us, you’ll need all the oomph you can muster to keep going on that wonderful but crazy day! Keep tiredness at bay by nourishing your body with eggs, which provide an impressive 30 per cent of your daily protein requirement, and ironpacked spinach. Do you often feel the afternoon slump? Avoid blood-sugar dips with complex carbs like quinoa: cook with coconut milk to make a power porridge or use instead of rice for a healthier curry night.
TOP QUINOA PORRIDGE WITH FRUIT FOR A TASTY BREAKFAST
NUTRITION
MOOD FOOD If you’re feeling a little down in the dumps, it’s tempting to reach for the crisps and chocolate, but going for processed products and refined sugar will only cause even more mood swings from the sugar spike and inevitable slump. Bear with us – we’re not totally sucking all fun out of treat night. Carbs may be the answer! However, it’s all about the type of carbs you choose to eat and how you eat them. A low-fat, low-protein, high-carbohydrate snack (think a toasted English muffin with a dollop of homemade jam) will create serotonin in the body, a neurotransmitter that boosts mood and curbs cravings. Score! OPT FOR ORGANIC AND HOMEMADE PRODUCTS WHERE POSSIBLE
WHO SAID CARBS WERE THE ENEMY?!
DREAM-GIRL HAIR Got visions of walking down the aisle with long, glossy, bouncing locks? This can totally become a reality if you eat right. Nuts in general are a fantastic source of hair-enhancing vitamins and minerals, but walnuts, in particular, are considered among the very best for nourishment. This is because they contain a potent blend of omega-3 fatty acids, biotin, protein, vitamin E and copper, which protects hair against heat by acting as a shield. Lentils, also, are a good source of zinc and biotin, helping with good hair health plus they’re packed full of protein, which aids with the strengthening of your actual hair strands add some into your soup or salad and watch that hair shine! FACIAL SCRUBS
1
WE’RE SEARCHING FOR A HARD-WORKING EXFOLIATOR TO GIVE US SMOOTH, SOFT SKIN. 1. BRIGHTEN & REFINE FACIAL SCRUB, SUPER FACIALIST BY UNA BRENNAN £8.99 CHRISTIANNE This smelt lovely, but the granules felt quite abrasive on my skin. ●●●●● CIARA The formula is quite rough, but it gave me amazing results. ●●●●●
2
2. PORE-FECTLY CLEAR CHARCOAL FACE SCRUB, GOOD THINGS £4.99 CHRISTIANNE I like that this one is so gentle and I can’t believe the price! ●●●●● CIARA It’s really nice to apply, but it didn’t make that much difference to my skin. ●●●●● 3. REVITALISING FACIAL SCRUB, SUKIN £7.95 CHRISTIANNE A bit too gentle for me, but great for brides with sensitive skin. ●●●●● CIARA My complexion is definitely brighter after using this one and I like that it’s made with natural products too. ●●●●● 4. EXFOLIATING FACIAL SCRUB, PALMER’S £5.49 CHRISTIANNE This one is my fave! My skin feels super-soft after every use and it’s a really affordable price as well. ●●●●● CIARA The formula smells lovely and it gives me baby soft skin – it’s a winner! ●●●●● 5. REFINING SKIN POLISH, ESPA £28 CHRISTIANNE The jar made it a bit messy to use, but the smell and texture are very luxurious, so it’s great for a treat. ●●●●● CIARA I noticed a real improvement in the appearance of my skin tone, but it did leave my face feeling a bit tight. ●●●●●

2. TOTAL GLOW BRONZING BODY LOTION, ELEMIS £36 RACHEL It doesn’t smell like tan at all and the results are great – it’s definitely worth the money. ●●●●● MADELEINE The colour is perfect for my skin tone and the smell is actually gorgeous. ●●●●● 3. GENTLE BRONZE, COCOA BROWN £6.99 RACHEL The tinted formula helps with application and it’s a total bargain. ●●●●● MADELEINE The results are very subtle, so it’s great for pale skin and the price is a bonus. ●●●●● 4. GRADUAL SELF-TAN LOTION, FAKE BAKE £24.95 RACHEL It took a bit of effort for an even finish, but the colour is lovely and natural. ●●●●● MADELEINE The tan develops very quickly, but I did notice a few small streaks. ●●●●● 5. EVERYDAY GRADUAL TANNING MILK, BONDI SANDS £11.99 RACHEL The formula is lightweight so it doesn’t take long to dry and the pump lid is very handy. ●●●●● MADELEINE I do like the tan this one gave, but the strong smell puts me off. ●●●●●

ASIAN ISLAND HOPPING HANNAH AND RICHARD TAYLOR
FAVOURITE PHOTO: RICHARD MAKING FRIENDS WITH THE SEA LIFE!
A DAY SPENT EXPLORING THAILAND’S ISLANDS WAS THE COUPLE’S BEST MOMENT
214 • PERFECT WEDDING
WHERE: Thailand (Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Lanta and Koh Lipe) and Cambodia (Siem Reap). WHEN: March 2016 WHY: We both absolutely loved Asia but had never been together, so it was always our number one choice honeymoon destination. COST: £6,000 MOST ROMANTIC MOMENT: We rented a private villa up in the hills for our onenight stopover in Phuket, Thailand. It had a private pool and amazing views – we didn’t want to leave! FUNNIEST MOMENT: Drinking Hangovertinis in the sky bar in Bangkok, where they filmed The Hangover Part II. This was probably Richard’s highlight of the whole holiday! FAVOURITE PHOTO TAKEN: I love the photo of Richard making friends with the fish when we went snorkelling! BEST MEAL OF THE HONEYMOON: It was at this tiny restaurant called Knee Papaya on the Thai island of Koh Lipe. It really wasn’t anything special to look at and we would have walked right past it if our hotel manager hadn’t recommended it, but it really was one of the best meals I have ever had. YOUR FAVOURITE DAY: We rented a small long-tail boat in Koh Lipe and spent the day snorkelling and exploring the beautiful islands – it was unforgettable. BIGGEST ‘PINCH YOURSELF’ MOMENT: Exploring the amazing temples in Siem Reap, Cambodia. It’s always been on my bucket list and totally lived up to expectations! ESSENTIAL ITEM YOU COULDN’T HAVE LIVED WITHOUT: Our GoPro camera captured everything. WHAT’S YOUR GOLDEN HONEYMOON RULE? Take the extra time and extend the trip beyond two weeks – then you can really make the most out of it.
THE BRIGHT LIGHTS OF BANGKOK WERE THE IDEAL STARTING POINT
EASTERN ADVENTURE HELLY AND SAM PHIPPS
WHERE: Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Koyasan, Japan. WHEN: Sept 2015 WHY: We wanted to do something totally different and out of our comfort zones. A once in a lifetime trip! COST: £4,000 MOST ROMANTIC MOMENT: We were in Kyoto, hunting down a restaurant to eat in. The streets are lit by paper lanterns and it felt like we were so far from home and on such an adventure. We spotted Geishas and wandered around the tiny streets for ages getting lost, laughing and joking. FUNNIEST MOMENT: Tokyo, especially, was the most amazingly bizarre place ever: buses look like little cartoon characters and dogs are dressed in the cutest costumes. But the funniest moment was when we saw a tortoise being walked by its owner in a park in Shibuya, Tokyo. She kindly let us hold him, too! FAVOURITE PHOTO TAKEN: In a restaurant that was on top of a tower block that looked over the whole of Tokyo. The food was amazing and the view was breathtaking!
THE COUPLE SAW A TORTOISE BEING WALKED IN THE PARK
BEST MEAL OF THE HONEYMOON: We ate in a restaurant called Gonpachi that inspired the set for the infamous fight scene in Kill Bill: Volume 1. Surreal and so fun! The best vegan meal we had was at Brown Rice by Neal’s Yard Remedies in Harajuku. YOUR FAVOURITE DAY: Our favourite place was Tokyo. We went to Akihabara which is nicknamed Electric Town. It’s got so many establishments dedicated to Manga and Anime and retro gaming. We spent the whole evening being total nerds, on the grabber machines playing Mario and collecting cute teddies. BIGGEST ‘PINCH YOURSELF’ MOMENT: We stayed in a Shingon Buddhist temple in Koyasan for three nights. It was the most surreal and peaceful setting. We had to be back indoors by 5pm but our room had an amazing view and it was a perfect excuse to have quiet time to ourselves. ESSENTIAL ITEM YOU COULDN’T HAVE LIVED WITHOUT: We travelled light so we would be able to do a lot of shopping and move around easily. It was very humid at times and I have curly hair that I straighten, so probably my ghds! WHAT’S YOUR GOLDEN HONEYMOON RULE? Go on an adventure. It’s so romantic knowing you’re experiencing places and making amazing memories together! Don’t feel constrained by what a typical honeymoon should be.

LÉONIE AND LEO FOUND PEACE AND RELAXATION IN BEAUTIFUL MYKONOS
216 • PERFECT WEDDING
WHERE: Mykonos Thea, Mykonos, Greece. WHEN: June 2017. It was just three days after our wedding – we got married in Devon and drove back to London in torrential rain on the Monday, packed all evening and flew first thing on Tuesday morning! WHY: Wedding planning was soooo stressful, and our wedding weekend was amazing but intense, so we needed proper relaxation and sunshine. We almost booked Seville but realised we would spend most of it ‘doing stuff’ so we went for an eat, sleep, sunbathe, swim option. I read an article in a magazine about the ‘Top Foodie Destinations of 2017’ and Mykonos was in it. The writer recommended Mykonos Thea and I booked it immediately! We’re also going on a maximoon to Mexico too, which will be full of adventure and not much relaxing. COST: £2,000 approx MOST ROMANTIC MOMENT: Riding around the beautiful island on our hired quad bike. The scenery was stunning. FUNNIEST MOMENT: Hmmm, for me, it was beating Leo at cards which
NEVER happens. Not sure if he’d say the same thing though… FAVOURITE PHOTO TAKEN: I love the picture of us on the quad bike. It always brings back happy memories. BEST MEAL OF THE HONEYMOON: Kiki’s Tavern – it was amazing! Seriously delicious Greek food, gorgeous setting and free wine while you wait... YOUR FAVOURITE DAY: It’s so hard to pick one day out of such an amazing holiday! Funnily enough, maybe the day it actually rained – I was so disappointed, but then we decided to quad bike to Mykonos Town and eat gyros (so delish!) and buy tacky souvenirs, before coming back in time to eat at Kiki’s. BIGGEST ‘PINCH YOURSELF’ MOMENT: Being the only people on our hotel’s private beach. ESSENTIAL ITEM YOU COULDN’T HAVE LIVED WITHOUT: Suncream and a very large appetite. WHAT’S YOUR GOLDEN HONEYMOON RULE? Treat yo’ self (and try not to feel guilty about it!). THE COUPLE’S HOTEL HAD ITS OWN PRIVATE BEACH – BLISS!

USA ROAD TRIP CHERYL AND ROSS MCCABE
WATCHING A MEMPHIS BASKETBALL GAME WAS ONE OF THE COUPLE’S BEST MOMENTS
WHERE: Deep South USA – Atlanta, Nashville, Memphis, New Orleans, Alabama and Panama City Beach. WHEN: April 2017 WHY: We decided to elope and have our wedding and honeymoon together as one big, road trip adventure. COST: £3,000 MOST ROMANTIC MOMENT: Our wedding day in Nashville – seeing Ross the first time when I walked down the aisle. Saying our vows in a private ceremony with our families being able to watch via the web back home was the most perfect wedding day for us! FUNNIEST MOMENT: In Memphis, we stayed in a funky, rustic tree house. Just as we were about to go to bed one night, we were hijacked by our Airbnb hosts who insisted on getting us blind drunk on expensive bourbon. Let’s just say the next morning was… interesting! FAVOURITE PHOTO TAKEN: Us drinking bubbly on our wedding night. It captures how happy we were to finally tie the knot. BEST MEAL OF THE HONEYMOON: Our wedding dinner at the incredible Kayne Prime Steakhouse in Nashville. The steaks and complimentary champagne and desserts were to die for! YOUR FAVOURITE DAY: There are so many! Drinking whisky at the Jack Daniel’s Distillery, watching the Memphis Grizzlies basketball game, a swamp tour in New Orleans and a sunset dolphinwatching boat trip in Florida all rate highly. BIGGEST ‘PINCH YOURSELF’ MOMENT: Being upgraded to a suite in Mobile, Alabama and getting to sleep in the same bed that the one and only Matthew McConaughey slept in on his visit! ESSENTIAL ITEM YOU COULDN’T HAVE LIVED WITHOUT: Our Ford Mustang convertible for cruising in the sun with our hair blowing in the breeze! WHAT’S YOUR GOLDEN HONEYMOON RULE? Have the best adventure of your lives – worry about the cost later! PW

Friends, neighbours and colleagues seem to be drawn to you and will seek out your company. Don’t be surprised if you are asked to take the helm of a community project. You’re good at promoting initiatives and you have a gift for words.
Romance, having fun and taking part in interesting activities that you enjoy is as important to your health and your well-being as keeping on top of all of your wedding planning. Keep reminding yourself of this, especially around mid-month when commitments are heavy.
Besides making the most of the new season, your thoughts are on your future and decisions about your day that you still need to make. A selection of irons in the fire should guarantee a progressive and optimistic future. Planning a surprise party fills you with joy.
You need to be financially on your guard as expenses are creeping up at a worrying rate. With Christmas not far away and the expense of your forthcoming wedding, be sensible with your money. A cash gift from a generous relative will be a big help towards your wedding.

Turning down a friend’s request to go shopping means you can save yourself time and money by tackling your wedding to-do list without stressing. Your best friend or partner will have some exciting news around the 17th. Contact with family overseas helps you firm up plans for the future.
Lavish, fun entertainment is on your agenda. Surprise visitors early in the month will make you a really happy Sagittarius and gettogethers with workmates will be enlightening. You could discover how wrong you were about someone you thought was a killjoy.

Parties and other social gatherings will bring some great opportunities to get to know people better. If you have a chance to travel (hello, honeymoon!), start looking for discounted rates on plane tickets. You will enjoy exploring foreign places with your partner.
You can’t make your mind up about a dilemma. As this isn’t something you want to discuss with your fiancé, turn to a friend. Listening to their views might help you to make a decision. It isn’t conditional that you act on their advice but you could learn a lot just by listening.
Be gentle with yourself. The pre-wedding period can be extremely stressful – be sure to take time out of your busy routine to rest. Listening to music will relax you and make you more aware of golden opportunities. Friends will be impressed by your artistic ability.
You can look forward to a rewarding and enjoyable month ahead. New experiences and possibly even a new image is top of the list of your priorities. You will be invited to join a new circle of friends who share similar interests or who are campaigning for a special cause. PERFECT WEDDING • 223
