Draw your character here.

This is a landfill where a lot of our rubbish is buried underground. Most of it will never rot away, staying here for millions of years. If we carry on burying our rubbish the world will run out of space and the materials in which to make things from. The things buried here are often reusable, repairable and recyclable. If we learn to reuse, repair and recycle our rubbish the world and our environment will be a happier and healthier place to live.

How long does it take for these to rot?...

Now go through the list and circle each one that is reusable.

Go to your classroom bin and choose a piece of rubbish. Place it in front of you and draw it. What is it made from? Is it reuseable? Is it recyclable? Think about how you will draw its qualities: is it shiny, is it hard/soft?

1.

Draw a straight line. Label the ‘start’ and the ‘finish’ points on your line.

2. Now draw a circle without taking your pencil off of the page. Keep the circle continuous using the whole page.

A straight line has a start and a finish, a beginning and an end.

A circle doesn't have a visible start or finish, it could go on forever.

Remember to add colour to your character!

2. When you have finished designing and colouring your character, cut them out carefully and stick them on your classroom bin.

If we learn to reuse, repair and recycle our rubbish the world and our environment will be a happier and healthier place to live.

3. Take a picture of your character and stick them in the box below. Name of your character: Special power:

Think of an item of rubbish that begins with each letter of the alphabet. Draw it, write it, or maybe a mixture of both!
