The Richard Harris International Film Festival 2016 October 27th – 31st 2016, Limerick City, Ireland The 4th Annual Richard Harris International Film Festival kicks off on Thursday 27th October 2016 in Limerick City for 5 days. This year we will screen Irish and International Feature Films, Short Films and the finalists of our Monologue Competition. New for 2016 we have introduced a Sports Documentary screening on Monday 31st October. We will be accepting submissions next season for those interested in screening their sports documentaries in one of Ireland’s sporting cities “Sporting Limerick”. Some exciting events also happening this year are: An Acting Workshop with Award Winning Director Terry McMahon, Terry hosted an amazing workshop for RHIFF15 and we are thrilled he is returning to the fold in 2016! An Audience with Fionnula Flanagan hosted by Mr. Gerry Stembridge. An Evening with internationally renowned and 3 times Grammy winner Mr. Jimmy Webb. Following a sold out concert at the National Concert Hall in September and appearance at the US Embassy Creative Minds series, Jimmy will enthral his audiences at at Lime Tree Theatre, Limerick, 29th October 2016. RHIFF are delighted to host a live script reading of a new screenplay Pirate Queen by Academy Award nominated Shane Connaughton, in association with De Warrenne Pictures, narrated by Stephen Rea and with some very special guests. Journalist Joe Jackson will also perform his one man show based on his interviews with Richard Harris. Entitled “Richard Harris – A Play in the making” this show is based on over 30 hours of taped interviews - The show will get its first public reading, of highlights, complete with “mostly new audio clips of and private, previously unseen video footage of Richard Harris” For the 2016 festival, Richard Harris International Film Festival are excited to announce that, in partnership with SHIFT72, our festival will be growing with a Video on Demand Platform that will complement our existing Festival. This new platform is part of our commitment to supporting the independent filmmaking community by providing more opportunities for them to delight film loving audiences, build a loyal following beyond the existing Festival window. VOD and streaming services offer independent film-makers – especially self-distributed and pre-distribution films - access to an audience that is otherwise impossible to reach. A number of festivals (e.g. Sundance, Raindance and SXSW) have embraced technology and view VOD streaming services as a tool that extends the lifetime of the revenue generating capability of a particular festival.
