我很高興與藝術節團隊為你呈獻第 41 屆香港藝術 節的節目詳情。 本冊子刊載了為期逾五週、於十六個場地演出的藝 術節節目資料，內容琳瑯滿目，請你慢慢細閱。一 如觀眾預期，藝術節的演出者除有譽滿國際藝壇， 名氣顯赫的人物、藝團和香港演藝界精英之外，亦 包括不少潛質優厚的閃爍新星。或許他們的名字至 今尚未為香港人所熟悉，但當他們成為國際藝壇光 芒四射的亮點時，你必驚嘆自己曾是他們在香港首 演時的席上觀眾。 衷心期望你在本屆藝術節，除了享受賞心悅目的演 出外，也會與我們一起探索各個精采作品的深層意 義，尤其是現代人如何從嶄新角度審視自己、審視 他人。觀眾可透過觀賞節目所得的啟發、具爭議性 的觀點、經過反映而重構的影像，以及奇趣的視覺 效果，盡情發掘香港藝術節的箇中樂趣。 香港藝術節能夠邀請眾多國際著名藝術家及團體 聚首香江，並同時呈獻本地優秀藝術家的出色創 作，我們對此深感榮幸。期望你享受各個精采節 目及活動。

With the entire Festival team, I am very pleased to present details of performances of the 41st Hong Kong Arts Festival contained in the following pages. Do take your time, as there is much to discover in this packed Festival which extends over more than five weeks with performances in 16 venues. There are illustrious international artists and Hong Kong’s own top talents, as well as remarkable artists who may not yet be household names here, but will give boasting rights for your attendance at their debut in this city. I hope that the discoveries you make in this Festival will extend well beyond finding great performances to enjoy and encompass discoveries offered in the performances themselves, including new perspectives on how people see themselves and are seen by others. This is a recurring theme in the Festival: informed insight, contested perspective, reflected images and visual puzzles which are there simply for fun - these are all to be found in this Festival with so much to enjoy! We are privileged to present the fabulous international artists converging in this city for the Festival and to work with Hong Kong’s remarkable creative talents. We hope that you will enjoy many performances and events.

1973 年，首屆香港藝術節正式隆重揭幕，至今已成為地 區內舉足輕重的表演藝術節，以及亞洲區首屈一指的文 化盛事。香港藝術節每年邀請享譽國際的頂尖藝術家聚 首一堂，演出的節目色色俱備，既顧及古典傳統口味， 亦兼具大膽創新的表演形式。在 2012 年，藝術節邀請來 自世界各地共 1,500多名演藝精英呈獻超過 170場的演出， 當中包括 12 場世界首演及 10 場亞洲首演。 過去曾登上藝術節舞臺的知名國際藝人及藝團包括塞西 莉亞．芭托莉、荷西．卡里拉斯、馬友友、占士．高 威、菲力普．格拉斯、譚盾、小澤征爾、庫特．馬素 爾、列卡度．沙爾、柏德烈．杜邦、米高．巴里殊尼哥 夫、蕭菲．紀蓮、茱麗葉．庇洛仙、奇雲．史柏西、皇 家阿姆斯特丹音樂廳樂團、聖彼得堡馬林斯基劇院基洛 夫樂團及合唱團、維也納管弦樂團、巴伐利亞國立歌劇 院、格蘭特堡節日歌劇團、聖多馬少年合唱團、紐約市 芭蕾舞團、巴黎歌劇院芭蕾舞團、漢堡芭蕾舞團、史圖 加芭蕾舞團、翩娜．包殊烏珀塔爾舞蹈劇場、雲門舞 集 、 巴 塔 巴 斯 及 星 躍 馬 術 奇 藝 坊 、 Buena Vista Social Club 、皇家莎士比亞劇團、莫斯科藝術劇院及北京人民藝 術劇院等。 除了多次與國際藝術團體攜手委約全新作品外，藝術節 亦積極委約本地藝術家創作戲劇、室內歌劇和當代舞蹈 等新作品。不少作品在藝術節首演成功後，已在本港及 海外多度重演。 藝術節銳意讓觀眾超越舞臺界限，與藝術家近距離互動 接觸，每年策劃近百項加料節目。透過一系列的示範講 座、大師班、工作坊、座談會、後台參觀、展覽、藝人 談、劇本圍讀、導賞團及電影展映等活動，提高大眾對 藝術的興趣及認識。藝術節加料節目經常跳出表演場地 的框框，深入不同社區，於書店、公園、教堂、商場以 至大街小巷㛾舉行，當中更包括不少免費節目。 香港藝術節也一直致力培養年輕一代對藝術的興趣，多 年來推行不同的外展教育計劃，務求讓青少年能夠接觸 高質素的表演藝術。當中青少年之友自 1992 年成立以 來，曾參與活動的學生人數累計近 650,000 人，青少年之 友會員累計約 120,000 人。青少年之友會員除了有機會欣 賞藝術節節目外，更可參加全年各式各樣的活動，提高 其欣賞藝術的能力。 香港藝術節是一所非牟利機構，年度預算中的約三成經 費來自香港政府的撥款，約四成來自票房收入，而餘下 的約三成則有賴各大企業、熱心人士和慈善基金會的贊 助和捐款。
Launched in 1973, the Hong Kong Arts Festival is a major annual festival in the region and one of Asia's premier cultural events. Each year the Festival offers a broad spectrum of programmes, ranging from classical fare to cutting-edge productions. In 2012, the Festival presented over 1,500 artists in over 170 performances, including 12 world premieres and 10 Asian premieres. International artists and ensembles presented by the Festival include Cecilia Bartoli, José Carreras, Yo-Yo Ma, James Galway, Philip Glass, Tan Dun, Seiji Ozawa, Kurt Masur, Riccardo Chailly, Patrick Dupond, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Sylvie Guillem, Juliette Binoche, Kevin Spacey, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Mariinsky Theatre and Valery Gergiev, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Bavarian State Opera, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Thomanerchor, New York City Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, Hamburg Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet, Pina Bausch Tanztheater Wuppertal, Cloud Gate Dance Theatre, Bartabas and Zingaro, Buena Vista Social Club, Royal Shakespeare Company, Moscow Art Theatre, and the People's Art Theatre of Beijing, to name a few. In addition to an active programme of international cocommissions, the Festival also commissions and produces work in theatre, chamber opera and contemporary dance by Hong Kong’s own creative talents. These productions have had successful subsequent runs both in and outside Hong Kong after the premiere season in the Festival. Close to 100 Festival PLUS programmes are organized each year offering a diverse range of activities to enhance the engagement between artists and audiences: lecture demonstrations, masterclasses, workshops, symposia, backstage visits, exhibitions, meet-the-artist sessions, play-reading, guided tours, film screenings and other events. These Festival PLUS programmes take place in performance venues and in community locations, such as bookstores, parks, churches, malls and even along the streets and alleys of Hong Kong. Many are offered completely free of charge. The Festival also puts considerable effort and resources into promoting young people’s interest in the arts. Launched in 1992, its Young Friends (YFS) has in the past two decades reached out to nearly 650,000 students and about 120,000 Young Friends members. YFS members enjoy special access to Festival events and performances, together with year round activities. The Festival is a non-profit organization. About 30% of its annual income is covered by government funding, about 40% by box office revenue, and the remaining 30% comes from sponsorships and donations from corporations, individuals, and charitable foundations.

本地全日制學生購票更靈活 If You Are a Local Full-time Student 預訂門票期間，每位本地全日制學生每場最多可購學生票2張，詳情請參閱訂票表格。 Local full-time students can purchase up to two student tickets for each performance during the Advance Booking period. Please refer to the Booking Form for details.

From 10:00am on 8 December 2012, Festival tickets are available for purchase at all URBTIX outlets and through the URBTIX Internet Ticketing Service, www.urbtix.hk. Festival tickets for performances at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts are also available through HK Ticketing. Local full-time students and people with disabilities can enjoy a 50% discount on a first-come, first-served basis. Please refer to page 85 for details.

When a possessive husband attempts to lock up his wife and runs into the exploits of their mischievous maid, explosive jokes abound. A high energy, highly praised and highly entertaining opera buffa (or comic opera) by Neapolitan composer Domenico Cimarosa, is now revitalised by comedian Paolo Rossi for the San Carlo Theatre of Napoli, where the work originated. A contemporary of Mozart, Cimarosa’s joyful, accessible works were more popular than those by Mozart during their lifetime and largely admired by artists and writers, including Goethe and Stendhal. The genius of Cimarosa is recently re-appraised and his biographer Mary Tibaldi Chiesa called Il Marito Disperato one of his best works, worthy of a revival.

In March 2013, history will be made in Hong Kong when audiences get to experience the single most important opera of the 20th century: the Philip Glass/Robert Wilson collaboration of Einstein on the Beach, An Opera in Four Acts. This is the monumental work that revolutionised opera and stage aesthetics and established the reputation of the now legendary collaborators. Wilson’s striking images, Glass’ hypnotic rhythms and Lucinda Child’s choreography result in a re-imagining of Einstein that allows audiences to make their own connections with the physicist and his work.

「老旦」是京劇重要行當，以獨特大嗓唱腔，細膩動人的演 技，在舞台上栩栩如生地刻畫中、老年婦人形象。最初只唱不 做，經過前輩藝術家不斷創造，把老旦發展成為唱做唸打俱 重，但又適合身份個性的全能行當，由配角地位提升到獨挑大 樑的角色。 這次老旦名劇選演，有最古老的老旦開蒙唱工戲《望兒樓》 ，唱 做並重的全本《金龜記》 ，文武兼備的喜劇《對花槍》 ，樣板戲經 典《紅燈記》，直到最近的新劇《慈禧與德齡》(詳情可見 本指南第24頁)，由優秀的中、青年老旦演員袁慧琴、康 靜、譚曉令及張蘭等擔綱主演，立體展示老旦行當藝術。
《刺巴杰》花振芳將女兒碧蓮許配給駱宏勳，欲召他入贅。駱 宏勳與余千路經巴九寨之際，巧遇巴信之子巴杰。巴杰欲娶碧蓮 未遂，欲殺駱，卻反被駱所誤傷。巴杰之母馬金錠向駱尋仇，駱 逃命，並躲到胡理店中。胡理義助駱，拒絕馬入店內搜查。
《望兒樓》唐高祖李淵派次子李世民出征，多年未回。皇后竇 太真思念兒子，寢食難安，在五鳳樓前建望兒樓一座，每日黃昏 登樓眺望。
《紅燈記 — 痛說革命家史》李玉和在街市上的粥棚，與原定 來取「密電碼」的聯絡員接頭失敗，只好回家把「密電碼」藏 好。由於王連舉叛變，日本特務用接頭暗號前來騙取「密電碼」， 被識破未能得手。李玉和被日本憲兵隊長鳩山以請去喝酒為名被 捕，李奶奶見狀向李鐵梅痛說革命家史，告之紅燈是聯絡信物。
《對花槍》隋末，羅藝赴試途中病倒，被姜父救回，將養痊癒，收 為弟子。姜女桂芝，隨父習就祖傳花槍，代父傳授羅藝。二人婚後羅 藝赴試，又經戰亂，音訊杳然。 四十年後，桂芝聞知羅藝聚義瓦崗寨，遂攜子孫往尋。羅因另有妻室， 並生子羅成，不敢相認。桂芝怒，對花槍，打敗羅藝，全家團聚。
《殺四門》遼將蓋蘇文困唐太宗於越虎城，程咬金突圍回朝求救； 羅通、秦懷玉領兵救駕。尉遲恭懷恨取帥印時遭懷玉毆打，故意使其 力殺四門，羅通助秦擊敗蓋蘇文。

《金龜記》宋朝年間，河南孟津康氏早年喪夫，有兩子，長子張宣 娶妻王氏，次子張義。張宣赴試得中，官至祥符縣令，寄回書信接家 眷。不想書信錯投其妻王氏娘家，王氏素與婆母康氏、張義不和，丟 下母、弟不顧，獨自前往祥符縣團聚。 張義每日在孟津河釣魚奉養母親。一日，釣得金龜，大喜，歸家途中 從鄉鄰處得知其兄做了祥符縣令，歸告母。康氏遣子張義至祥符縣尋 兄，去後杳無音信，乃親往祥符。 途中恍惚見張義滿面是血，大疑。至祥符縣，長子張宣迎入，康氏詢 問張義下落，張宣支吾以對，後始告義已身死。康氏往靈前哭祭，張 義托兆，告嫂王氏覬覦金龜，將他毒死。康氏乃往包拯處控告，包拯 為之昭雪。
The highly stylised singing and acting techniques of lao dan (specialists in the role of old woman) exemplifies the artistry and finesse of Beijing Opera. Lao dans portray aging and old women of vastly diversified character and social background, from an elderly queen yearning for her long-lost son, an army commander seeking redress from her estranged husband, an impoverished mother mourning a murdered son, a passionate revolutionary to the allpowerful Empress Dowager Cixi. They are often pivotal in advancing the plot, adding pathos and charm to any scene in which they appear. On the eve of the 1911 Revolution and the brink of the downfall of the Qing dynasty, Princess Deling arrives at the Forbidden City, where she meets the redoubtable Empress Dowager, Cixi. The Western-educated Deling tells Cixi about the marvels she has seen in the West and becomes her confidant and translator. Departing from a stereotypical portrayal, this China National Peking Opera Company production, under Fredric Mao’s astute direction, depicts the human side of the autocrat. 蕭紅（1911－1942），二十多歲就以《生死場》揚名，被魯迅譽 為具「女性的細緻」和「越軌的筆致」。蕭紅的小說剛柔並 致、悲天憫人，而她的生命卻如越軌的火車，狂飆而過。從冰 雪極北的哈爾濱離家出走，最後輾轉走到南方的香港，遺憾而 終。她的一生是對女性自由、對愛情、對生命的無盡搏鬥，是 一首戛然而止的未完成交響曲。 香港藝術節委約著名作曲家陳慶恩、編劇意珩及導演黎海寧創 作室內歌劇《蕭紅》，年輕指揮家廖國敏，將帶領多位活躍於 本地樂壇的樂師及歌唱家，包括於2012年奧地利「泰利亞雲尼 國際歌劇大賽」獲「最佳女高音獎」的鄺勵齡，以音樂譜出這 位文壇才女的傳奇一生。
Xiao Hong (1911–1942) was a contemporary of Eileen Chang and perhaps the most celebrated Chinese woman writer in the 1930s. She lived her short life with love, with freedom, and the land and its people always in her heart. Her first novel The Field of Life and Death, written at 24, was an instant hit and won the admiration of Lu Xun, literary doyen of the day. Based on her life story, this new chamber opera is a reflection on Xiao’s tumultuous life, from her early life in Harbin to her solitary death in Hong Kong, where she completed her most renowned novel Tales of Hulan River. With librettist Yan Yu’s poetic verse, Helen Lai’s staging, and Chan Hing-yan’s original score employing both Chinese and Western instruments, Heart of Coral is a lyrical testament to Xiao’s unfailing aspiration to love and liberty. Taking place in Hong Kong’s only remaining pre-World War II cinema building, which stands next to a fruit market in bustling Yau Ma Tei, are a series of Cantonese Opera performances. Once the largest theatre in Kowloon, this listed historic building is dedicated exclusively to the conservation and advancement of Cantonese Opera, now officially listed by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. For the Festival, four leading Cantonese opera artists act as mentors to collaborate with promising performers of the second and third generations in a selection of classics, including 13th century tragic tale Orphan of the Zhao Family and the well-loved Yam Pak classic The Reincarnation of Lady Plum Blossom. In addition to performances by three generations of Cantonese opera artists on stage together, a wide range of community PLUS events are offered, including guided Cultural Walks and talks on the artistry of Cantonese Opera by the performers. From classical Haydn to contemporary compositions, the two concerts are an exploration of the diversity of Western music history performed with the ensemble’s signature vitality and virtuosity. Alice Sara Ott joins the ensemble for Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No 1, while Tognetti leads Mozart’s Violin Concerto No 4 on his 1743 Guarneri del Gesù violin and Brett Dean’s Electric Preludes on his electric violin. The ensemble reaffirms the potency and relevance of chamber music in our fast paced, ever changing world.

This is a concert to break barriers as waves break on the shore. 享負盛名的指揮家馬克．明柯夫斯基，為紀念一代法國樂壇 巨匠拉摩，成功整理好這位大師之歌劇與舞劇作品，並把其 千變萬化的管弦樂精髓編成《虛構的交響曲》 ，向這位管弦樂 先驅致敬。 同場演奏的《唐璜》出自葛路克按照莫里哀同名作品改編而成 的舞劇，故事描寫風流成性的唐璜被拖至地獄。德布西曾表示 葛路克的音樂深受拉摩的影響，是次音樂會將可感受兩大巴羅 克作曲家極具戲劇性的音樂。 明柯夫斯基於1982年以19歲之齡創立了現今首屈一指的羅浮宮 音樂家古樂團。樂團在選曲、演奏風格及器樂運用方面作深入 研究，精益求精，成功為早期音樂賦予嶄新面貌。 “One of the most sublime conceptions of dramatic music,” said Hector Berlioz of Jean Phillipe Rameau. Marc Minkowski pays homage to Rameau, master of orchestral writing, by taking the most colourful, rhythmic and virtuosic pieces from Rameau’s operas and one-act ballets from 1737 to 1763 and weaving them into a coherent whole in Imaginary Symphony. Presented in the same evening is music from Don Juan by Gluck, whose genius was described by Debussy as “deeply rooted in Rameau’s works”. Based on Molière’s play of the same name, Gluck’s ballet follows the legend of Don Juan and his descent into Hell.

Three other works making their Hong Kong premiere are Hao Weiya’s Dizi Concerto, Flowers Blooming on the Paths in the Fields, which will be performed on the dizi by Dai Ya, and Wang Ning’s The Ancient Cadence of Gui Plain. General Director of the Taipei Chinese Orchestra, Chung Yiukwong’s Sheng Concerto, Music For Gourd, will be performed by Chen Yiwei, Assistant Sheng Principal of the HKCO.

His contribution to the rebirth of ancient music has earned him such prestigious awards as the Léonie Sonning Music Prize and the York Early Music Festival Lifetime Achievement Award. Played on his 1697 seven-string viola da gamba, Savall’s solo recital Les Voix Humaines (The Human Voices) features French and English music that exhibit the human quality of the incredible soundscapes produced on this highly sensitive instrument.

In addition to a stellar career as one of the world’s finest pianists, Mikhail Rudy is also a writer, broadcaster, film-maker and festival director. In this special Festival project, Rudy plays works by Russian composers Scriabin, Prokofiev and Stravinsky. Mussorgsky’s much-loved Pictures at an Exhibition is accompanied by Rudy’s film based on animations of Wassily Kandinsky’s designs for a staging of the score in 1928 in Weimar Germany. A very special treat for art and music lovers.

“He creates colours that make you say, ‘Is that possible with a musical instrument?’” exclaims Gustavo Dudamel, director of Los Angeles Philharmonic and Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra, on the virtuosity of Martin Fröst. Undoubtedly one of the most outstanding wind instrumentalists of today, Fröst redefines what it means to play the clarinet. His repertoire encompasses not only mainstream clarinet works, but also contemporary commissions which Fröst has personally championed, including Hillborg’s Peacock Tales, a work that incorporates mime and dance. This young quartet took the classical music world by storm performing Ravel, Debussy and Fauré with “an almost palpable sense of wonder” ( Gramophone ). The youthful ambassador of Polish chamber music, founded in 2007 and led by exceptional violin virtuoso Jakub Jakowicz, has already established its reputation as one of the best chamber music ensembles in Poland. The Quartet’s repertoire ranges from traditional classical to contemporary jazz collaborations, always performed with refinement and commitment. Their particular strength is 20th century Polish music and is showcased in this programme.

To celebrate the centenary of Witold (1913–1994), the ensemble begins with the monumental String Quartet by this major figure in European music of the 20th century in a pioneering work that requires the four musicians to spontaneously decide their rhythmic coordination. Featured in the same evening is the mystically impressionistic work by Szymanowski. The score embodies rich Polish music traditions and captures the qualities of the composer’s beloved Polish highlands, while sustaining his own aesthetic principles. Bringing this essay on Polish music legacy up to the present day is the 2009 composition by the Quartet’s violinist Marcin Markowicz.

生於音樂世家的鋼琴新秀朴星吉，六歲已舉行個人獨奏會， 八歲便贏得上海大劇院盃鋼琴比賽第一名，其後再屢獲獎 項，勇奪2006年於美國舉行的國際俄羅斯音樂大賽第一名兼 三個特別獎。 現年二十歲的朴星吉，憑著澎湃的感情與熟練的技巧，成為中 國年輕鋼琴家中的矚目新星，曾到奧地利、波蘭、匈牙利、美 國等地演出。他將以舒曼與布拉姆斯的音樂，展現他對浪漫巨 著的理解，同時演繹普羅科菲耶夫既繁密而炫技的第四奏鳴 曲，彰顯獨到的技巧。
Piao Xingji took the stage as a young prodigy and claimed the First Prize at the Shanghai Grand Theatre National Piano Competition at the age of eight. In 2006, he went on to receive the First Prize and four special prizes at the Fifth International Russian Music Piano Competition of San Jose, US. The same year, Piao embarked on a concert tour in China and subsequently performed in Austria, Poland, Hungary and the US. Piao’s performance includes the major work of Schumann’s youthful years in the 1830s, Carnaval, Brahms’ intimate Opus 118, American romantic composer Griffes’ work and the elaborate yet introverted fourth sonata of Prokofiev.

Graduating in 2009 with a first prize from the Conservatoire National de Région de Paris, Ng immediately began his professional career with a performance at the Berlin Town Hall. Benjamin Britten (1913–1976) is one of the most-widely performed composers in the 20th century. His lyricism has captured the hearts of audiences everywhere and we celebrate his centenary in three concerts that focus on his vocal and sacred music. The first concert features Britten’s most outstanding masterpieces reflecting wartime unease, including Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings, and a major choral work of the time, The Company of Heaven. The second concert features songs that show Britten’s ability to capture the essence of sung words, proving why he is regarded as one of the greatest song composers. Nan Lian Garden offers the perfect setting for Songs from the Chinese. The final concert in the series sees some of the most memorable Britten choral pieces, including Choral Dances from Gloriana and a collaboration with Hong Kong Children’s Choir’s Chamber Boys in Voices for Today. Die Konzertisten, which has quickly established its reputation as one of the most outstanding vocal ensembles in Hong Kong today, performs in all three concerts.

Departing from the traditional story of eternal love and unshakable fidelity, she takes unrestrained desire, jealousy and lust as the premise. She portrays the two snake spirits, White and her sister Green, in their forbidden love for an innocent young man and a powerful monk. Love and temptation overrule moral values; both goddesses and mortals are beyond redemption. Rian is universal in appeal, quintessentially Irish in character, and deeply rooted in Celtic heritage. Rian taps into healthy life enhancing traditions with influences from faraway places to evoke a timeless vision of the real indescribable nature of things. 以色列編舞厄多斯自2008年於丹麥奧胡斯國際 編舞大賽 (AICC) 中獲首獎後，她的作品除了獲 多個國際舞團及藝術節青睞， 「以色列舞蹈大 使」泰德莫亦委約她的新作。曾是以色列巴舒 化舞蹈團首席的泰德莫，在美國林肯中心演出 獲《紐約時報》讚譽為「震撼全場」 。他委約厄 多斯編的獨舞《與⋯他》，舞者身處黑暗、寂 靜的房間，面對 身份、創傷、以及日漸衰老 的身軀，渴望得到愛及友誼的一刻， 「他」走 進內心，深陷於無奈及哀傷。
芭蕾舞及現代舞同樣出色的孫尚綺，可謂是 文舞全才。他於德國知名戲劇學院Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Art 和柏林藝術大學習 舞，2008年在史圖加國際獨舞節中奪編舞大 獎，曾與 Sasha Waltz & Guests 等知名舞團合 作。在《穿越》中，孫尚綺如身處一望無際 的沙漠，身軀如戰鬥機的引擎猛烈地起飛， 舞台上的燈光線條穿越舞者與空間，在池田 亮司的電子音樂帶動下，在力量、慾望、衝 擊的氛圍內，緊懾觀眾眼目及心思，直到順 利降落的一刻⋯⋯ Fleeting and lingering by turn to music resembling the rhythm of heartbeats, dancer-choreographer Sun Shang-chi, travels through different states of the body, simultaneously experiencing the past and the future in space. At once gripping and emancipating, Traverse shows Sun’s speed, fluidity and choreographic versatility. He has worked with renowned companies and festivals, including Sasha Waltz (Berlin), Nuremberg Dance Theatre (Germany), Festival Tanz im August (Berlin), Festival d’Avignon and International Taipei Arts Festival.

Inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and Mr addresses the themes of identity, trauma and fading youth. The work is set in a dimly-lit room where Ido Tadmor confronts loneliness and constraints. His intense movements are choreographed by Rachel Erdos, who won the Aarhus International Choreography Competition 2008 (Denmark) and had work shown in the Royal Opera House (UK). Tadmor, recipient of life achievement award Landau Prix (Israel), was a lead dancer at Batsheva Dance Company (Israel) and Lar Lubovitch Dance Company (New York).

二高（何其沃），喜與跨界藝術家合作，如科 隆環境藝術家 Angie Hiesl 及荷蘭舞蹈家 Emio Greco等，作品多從肢體及視覺出發，探討對 性別、身份及性的迷思。陶藝對二高來說有 如中國人的體態般儒雅、含蓄及內斂。新作 找來熟悉陶藝的音樂人朱芳 ，把現代人的 思想注入這門傳統藝術，融合實驗民謠音樂 人梁奕源編排的樂音，追尋「陶」與身體的 原始特質。 In Working Process, dancer-choreographer Er Gao from Guangzhou, demonstrates refinement, restraint and reticence. Inspired by the qualities of traditional earthenware, he explores the inexplicable and unpredictable human body. Pottery is used as musical instruments in the performance together with live recording by experimental folk singer-songwriter Liang Yiyuan. He has collaborated with various dance groups and artists, including Emio Greco | PC (The Netherlands), Tanzcompagnie Rubato (Germany) and Guangdong Modern Dance Company (China).

拉威爾《波萊羅舞曲》Boléro by Maurice Ravel 歌曲來自 songs from Houria Aïchi, Hossam Ramzy 歐洲炙手可熱編舞阿布．拉格，擅將芭蕾、爵士及街舞融合一 起，賦予作品熾熱澎湃的生命力。《信靠》是拉格把法國及阿 爾及利亞文化拉近的「地中海文化橫貫計劃」作品之一，帶動 年青舞者在古典、現代及瑜伽的思維建構中去勇於表現、釋放 自己，衝破生命的每個難關茁壯成長，把自己開放給廣闊無邊 的世界。 拉格在阿爾及利亞400位街舞者中挑選出十位男舞者，他們隨 法國音樂家拉威爾的《波萊羅舞曲》起勁 hip hop，逐一展 露獨到的街舞功力，緊接的是阿爾及利亞歌后 Houria Aïchi 感 性的北非柏柏爾族山區歌聲，舞者繼續 hip hop 舞動，灑脫地 展露他們由古至今的獨特文化和身份，引領觀眾感受最原始的 力量。 《信靠》於2010年9月首演後，旋即獲邀參與法國里昂的國際雙 年舞蹈節，更於翌年取得法國藝評人大獎的「最佳編舞獎」。

《在那遙遠星球》Talk to Me 李健偉 Max Lee 多才多藝的跨界編舞李健偉，去年創作尖銳作品《無聲盒》， 今次則聯同導演及戲劇指導邱頌偉、舞者馬師雅及作曲家趙朗 天，編織一個探討內心世界的作品。在一個陌生的星球，對人 群的恐懼、對孤單的畏懼，令人感到與世界不合。惟有從遠處 眺望，人才能找到心中美麗的星宿。 Life is like living on a faraway unknown planet to multi-talented dance artist Max Lee. Crowded space inspires as much fear as solitude. You must look hard to see the twinkling stars afar. Talk to me is an introspective work, performed by two dancers and one actor, to new music composed by Alain Chiu.
What’s the Matter? 李思颺 Justyne Li 這是李思颺和三位舞者對身體的每一個動靜的微妙探索，對狹 窄的感觀，和對時間的感知。當外來所見的及後天所學的，在 意識來到時，令人思索：我的身體在這兒做什麼？李思颺繼續 以純粹身體的舞動，探索時間與身體的迷思。 Excelling in both ballet and contemporary dance, Justyne Li experiments with the notion of fragmentation while exploring the metaphysical understanding of time in What’s the Matter? 承接上一屆的香港賽馬會當代舞蹈平台系列，今年藝術節繼續 推動本地編舞創作風氣。是次舞蹈系列再次邀請胡頌威、楊浩 的團隊、李健偉，並撮合王丹琦及方家諾創作全新作品，還有 三位女編舞李思颺、郭曉靈及梁秀妍的新篇，組成兩套節目。 演出將選用本地作曲家的音樂，借此鼓勵年青編舞與本地音樂 家之間的交流互動。
The Series continues to promote contemporary choreography and cross-discipline collaborations in Hong Kong. This year, 11 gifted choreographers are featured in six innovative new dance works, set to music by local composers.

在去屆的舞蹈平台上，王丹琦以踢躂舞跳出聲、色、舞交錯的 《由聲而發》。hip hop 舞者方家諾編排的《棋子》，令人目眩的 舞蹈，使現場觀眾躍動起來。不跳不相識，王丹琦將與方家諾 互相比拼，踢躂舞及 hip hop 的相遇，日與夜的碰撞，動與靜 的對話，且看那不期而遇的化學作用。 In the 40th HKAF, Wong ingeniously incorporated video design and saxophone music with tap dance, and Fang wowed audiences with his explosive hip hop dance. In The Voice, they mix hip hop with tap dance, trespassing on the boundaries dividing day and night.
《閡目二》Melting Solitude II 郭曉靈 Elaine Kwok 年青編舞郭曉靈是少數愛從「物件」的特質和形態出發的編 舞。這是個以「冰」為出發點的作品，會化成液體、固體、氣 體的「冰」，就如人與人的關係，或如軀體的動作。冰的溶 化、脆弱、冷酷、堅固的特質，引發她第三度透現這個富詩意 與重壓感的「媒體」。 Elaine Kwok, who is familiar with expressing ideas via physical objects, is once again inspired by the qualities of ice in Melting Solitude II. This time, she turns the physical qualities of ice into a metaphor for the contrasting qualities of human relationship – solid and yet susceptible to melting. Like the capricious nature of ice, the dance is equally poetic and violent.

Advance Bookings (9 October – 30 November 2012) Please refer to the Advance Booking Guide in the centre of this brochure for details. During the Advance Booking period, each subscriber may purchase up to a maximum of 16 tickets per performance.
Advance Bookings for Local Full-time Students/People with Disabilities Student tickets are available only for local full-time students. Each student is entitled to a maximum of 2 tickets for each performance. Adults may purchase a maximum of 4 student tickets for each performance, provided that at least 1 standard price ticket is purchased in the same booking, for each performance. During the Advance Booking period, booking for concessionary tickets is available for people with disabilities. Each holder of a “Registration Card for People with Disabilities” issued by the Government of the HKSAR may book 1 half-price concessionary ticket for each performance. There are only a limited number of wheelchair seats in each venue and these will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. For enquiries, please call the Hong Kong Arts Festival during office hours (Monday to Friday : 9:00 am 1:00 pm; 2:00 pm - 5:30 pm) at 2824 2430.
Advance Bookings for Overseas Patrons (From 9 October to 30 November 2012) Overseas patrons may order their Festival tickets by visiting our website at www.hk.artsfestival.org OR by contacting Cityline (Hong Kong) Limited, Unit F-H, 23/F, Legend Tower, 7 Shing Yip Street, Kwun Tong Kowloon (2013 Hong Kong Arts Festival) OR by faxing a completed booking form to (852) 2802 8160. Festival Information Counters
Starting from 10:00 am on 8 December 2012, these tickets may also be booked through the HK Ticketing booking hotline at 31 288 288 and the HK Ticketing website at www.hkticketing.com.
Festival Information Counters are located in the foyers of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and the Hong Kong City Hall from 4 December 2012 to 24 March 2013.
A booking fee of HK$10 per ticket will apply to telephone and internet bookings. Patrons may choose to collect their tickets at any HK Ticketing outlet, or request delivery by courier to a specific address, subject to an additional courier charge.

You are strongly advised to arrive punctually. The management reserves the right to refuse admission to latecomers. The management also reserves the right to determine the time latecomers will be admitted. Patrons must check their tickets before leaving the booking counter. No refunds or exchanges can be made after the tickets are sold. Each local full-time student may purchase up to a maximum of 4 tickets per performance, and up to a maximum of 10 performances at the URBTIX/HK Ticketing outlets. Student ticket holders must produce valid proof of identity (local full-time students) for inspection by the venue staff when attending performances. Those who fail to do so will be required to pay the full ticket price and handling charges. People with disabilities must bring the valid “Registration Card for People with Disabilities” when attending performances. Those who fail to do so will be required to pay the full ticket price and handling charges. Concessionary tickets are limited and bookings will be dealt with strictly on a first-come, firstserved basis. The price of discounted tickets will be rounded up to the nearest dollar on EACH ticket. The seating plans in this Guide may vary slightly from the actual venues and are for reference purposes only. From 8 December 2012 to 24 March 2013, a ticket re-sale service for sold-out performances is available at Festival Information Counters up to 1 hour before curtain time. A service charge of HK$20 will be deducted from every ticket re-sold. Only cash payments will be accepted.

• Starting from 10:00 am on 8 December 2012, Festival tickets can also be booked using URBTIX Internet Ticketing Service at www.urbtix.hk until 1 hour before each performance. Tickets purchased by URBTIX telephone credit card booking and internet booking services can be collected from URBTIX outlets / Cityline ticket dispensing machines or by mail. Please present the credit card you used for the telephone or internet booking for authentication and collection of your pre-paid tickets. All ticket and service fees will be deducted from the subscriber’s credit card account. The service fee is HK$6.5 per ticket and up to a maximum of HK$20 per order. If tickets are requested to be sent by registered post, the maximum service fee is HK$45 per order. All service fees are non-refundable.
From 8 December 2012 until 24 March 2013, patrons can register (in person or by telephone) at the Festival Information Counters to purchase resale tickets for sold-out performances. Patrons will be contacted by telephone once the tickets are available. Only cash payments will be accepted.
