25-26 AUG | HORSHAM, AUSTRALIA
WELCOME /
TO THE WORLD JUNIOR MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP 2018 HORSHAM, AUSTRALIA | 25-26 AUGUST 2018 FIRSTLY I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL THE RIDERS ACCEPTING THEIR PLACE IN TEAM GB FOR THE 2018 FIM JUNIOR MOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. This year’s event takes place on the other side of the world at Horsham circuit in Australia. The circuit includes tabletops, step up, step down, whoops, ski jumps, triple-up, berms and off camber corners. The width and layout of the track allows for many passing opportunities and is generally considered to be relatively fast and flowing by many riders. Team GB have been very successful in the past with Conrad Mewse who won the 85cc class in 2013 as well as Team GB getting onto the podium in 2015. Last year saw Eddie Jay Wade become 2018 FIM Junior World 85cc Champion and the team finishing fifth overall. This year we will see Ashton Boughen compete in the 65cc category with Ethan Lane, Alfie Jones and Jak Taylor in the 85cc category and finally team mates Eddie Jay Wade, Kyle McNicol, Preston Williams and Sam Nunn compete in the 125cc category for ACU Team GB. The riders have been selected to represent Great Britain within their classes, as recognition of their hard work, skill and professionalism they have shown within the sport and as such they are all Ambassadors representing the country, within the sport we are all passionate about. Myself and the RHL Team’s role is to represent the Team at FIM meetings, assist and work with the riders in dealing with any issues and ensure they have an enjoyable experience, competing with the best riders in the World at the pinnacle of your sport. Lets all make this a fun and enjoyable experience and strive to be the best junior team the ACU have sent to the World Championships. Yours in Sport

STEVE MCCAULEY / FIRSTLY FROM MYSELF AS THE MOTOCROSS COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN FOR THE ACU AND FROM THE ENTIRE TEAM AT ACU WE WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY OF THANKING ALL THE RIDERS WHO WILL BE COMPETING IN THE 2018 FIM JUNIOR WORLD MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP IN AUSTRALIA FOR THE ACU TEAM GB. We are pleased to see RHL Activities have accepted to continue to run the British team and working with the ACU on plans for the coming years for the team. In 2017 we saw ACU Team GB finish fifth out of twenty-four countries present in Estonia and Eddie Jay
Wade crowned the 2017 FIM Junior World Motocross Championship 85cc Champion. The ACU and myself are keen to push the sport further within the UK and also prepare our riders for the World Motocross Championships later on within their careers. I am personally pleased to see the majority of riders within the team making it through the Official British Youth National Championship, which is the stepping-stone from club level into British and World Championships. However we will and do consider those who ride outside of the UK and deserve a place on merit. It’s all about balance and rewarding loyal ACU members.

I would finally like to say, whatever happens out there. Remember it’s the taking part that counts, enjoy and savour every moment with the trip to Australia and competing with the rest of the worlds elite youth riders for the Junior World Championship titles. You are there as you are part of the elite youth riders in the World and wear your countries flag with pride. I would like to wish you all the best of luck; lets do it Team GB and bring home a podium finish!

Try and get yourself adjusted to the Australian time zone as quickly as possible. If you are flying out with plenty of time you will get your body clock adjusted with time. If you are flying out closer to the event change your time soon as your on the plane and try adapt to the time zone straight away. Sleep is important and you need plenty of it before the event.
On build up to the event make sure you hydrated and try and get some good food inside you, if you are staying at the hotel make arrangements for your food the day before so you are organised.
Make sure you study the track, this track will be new for everyone except the Aussies. I recommend walking the track a few times so the layout is really in your head.
On the day of the event again make sure you are taking on enough fluids, I know its a big event and you might be nervous but its super important to get food inside you. Just like your bike you won’t run with no fuel in side you.
Have fun! You have earned your place to be there. Enjoy the experience and give your all!
