introduction "DESERTMARTIN IS AN ICONIC TRACK WHICH IS HELD MANY NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL EVENTS" Welcome to the fourth round of the 2019 Judd KTM British Youth Championship. It’s an exciting time for us here at RHL Activities; we look forward to seeing some great racing at Desertmartin. We are pleased to be back at Desertmartin following a year off from the calendar. As the Official ACU British Youth Motocross Championship heads into the final three rounds for the 2019 season, we expect it to be one of the highlights of the year. Desertmartin is one of few tracks that has full planning permission for year-round use. ’The Desert’, as it is affectionately known, has been developed over the years and is classed as one of the best tracks in the world by many riders. It has played host to many races from club level to national and world championship events including the FIM World Motocross Championship, Maxxis British Motocross Championship and of course the British Youth Motocross Championship, while the sandy terrain certainly creates some memorable racing and it is of course a great experience for the riders. Part of our priority here at RHL Activities is to grow our sport, bring more junior riders into the championship and give our riders the very best platform to develop for the future. Over the last seven years I believe we’ve 4

achieved a lot, and this season we will see another strong line-up of riders across all classes that will benefit from racing with the very best youngsters in the UK on some of the best tracks for their development. The Judd KTM British Youth Championship is the only gateway for young riders to enter a World Championship event, and we look forward to seeing riders enjoy all the benefits of competing with us, while establishing themselves throughout the ranks of racing. We value all our partners who are incredibly important to the success and progression of the Judd KTM British Youth Championship. I would like to personally thank you all for your support, and we are of course highly motivated to continue our growth of the championship whilst improving it for existing riders, especially as we look to lead the way as the most professional youth series in Europe. I hope you all have a great weekend of racing and enjoy the fourth round for the 2019 season.

MAX INGHAM Max Ingham looks to take British Open Championship title at the Judd KTM British Youth Championship The Hardcore Racing Yamaha rider Max Ingham has been competing at the Official ACU British Youth Motocross Championship for the last few years. Max competes in the Open Championship in 2019 and currently sits in second with 56 points behind the current red plate leader Dominic Lancett. Unfortunately, Dominic Lancett is out for the remainder of the season due to an injury, so the title is now open to Max to take the 2019 British title. We caught up with the Isle of Man rider ahead of the fourth round of the Judd KTM British Youth Championship which takes place at Desertmartin in Northern Ireland on August 17th and 18th. We are now heading into the final half of the 2019 season. How has the season gone so far for you and has there been any highlight moments you would like to share with us? Max Ingham: “This year hasn’t gone exactly how I thought it would go. I’ve had a few little setbacks at the previous rounds resulting in met not riding like I know I can rider, but I am looking to finish the rest of the season strong and in full fitness.” At the last round which took place at Fatcats, you had a strong weekend. How was it for you and can you talk us through the weekend? Max Ingham: “Yes I started the weekend off really well qualifying in pole. During the first race whilst leading I made a mistake and over jumped a jump and landed into the face of the next jump. This caused me to have injure both my ankles, so I decided to pull out of the race due to 13

being in a lot of pain. I strapped my ankle up and finished the weekend off as I knew I had to score points to keep the Championship alive.” You are currently second in the ACU British Open Championship heading into the fourth round. How does it feel and now with Dominic out due to injury the title is up for grabs with only 56 points off the top spot? Max Ingham: “It’s never nice to see another rider go out of a Championship due to an injury, but now for the remaining rounds I am just going to ride like I know I can and score as many points as possible to then see where I end up at the final round at Landrake.” Desertmartin plays host to the fourth stop after a year off the Official ACU British Youth Motocross Championship calendar. The circuit is known as one of the best tracks in Europe. What are your thoughts on the track, and can you tell us a bit about your plans/goals for the weekend? Max Ingham: “Desertmartin is one of my favourite circuits to ride, so I am really looking forward to heading there. I plan to go out there and ride how I know I can and hopefully be fighting for the race wins and get the top spot in the Championship.” Can you tell us what you get up to in between meetings in regard to training and having time out on your bike? Max Ingham: “I try to ride as much as I can during the weekends and then during the week I usually go to the gym, cycle and go to a Yoga class which I feel helps a lot when I am on the bike.”

BUSTER HART

I N T E RV I E W

Buster Hart has been competing in the Judd KTM British Youth Championship for a few years now and currently sits fifth within the Official ACU British 125cc Championship as the Championship heads to Desertmartin in Northern Ireland this weekend (August 17thand 18th). Buster recently competed for Team GB in Trentino, Italy for the FIM Junior Motocross World Championship where the team finished 3rd out of 32 countries. We caught up with Buster ahead of the fourth round this weekend.

Buster Hart: “It’s a pretty good feeling but I know I can definitely improve my positions.”

We are now heading into the final half of the 2019 season. How has the season gone so far for you? Has there been any highlight moments? Buster Hart: “This season was always going to be tough. Rookie season is always a learning one, but we have had some great riding and overall, it’s been an awesome year so far. The big highlight for me this year is getting picked to represent team GB in Italy a few weeks ago.”

Can you tell us what you get up to in between meetings in regards to training and bike time? Buster Hart: “A lot of effort goes into it during the week with gym training and riding on the bike.”

At the last round you had a strong weekend at Fatcats for the third stop of the Official British Youth Motocross Championship. How was it for you? Can you talk us through the weekend for you? Buster Hart: “Fatcats was a mediocre weekend. My first race on the new bike with a lot of changes. It was good but could have been a lot better.” You’re currently fifth in the British Open Championship heading into round four with 53 points off fourth place rider James Smith. How does it feel being within the top five riders in the UK in the 125cc class?

We now head to Desertmartin on August 17th & 18th for the fourth round. Desertmartin is known as one of the best tracks in Europe. What are your thoughts on the circuit, and can you tell us a bit about your plans and goals for the weekend? Buster Hart: “It’s an awesome track one of my favourites for sure. My goals are to get good starts and get on the box.”

Finally, what would you say to a rider who is looking to come up? Buster Hart: “Definitely believe and hope you can do it. Put the work in and push yourself. If you want it bad enough you will get there.” If you would like to find out more about the Judd KTM British Youth Championship head over to www.rhlactivities. com

Fatcat fun in the sun for round three of the Judd KTM ACU British Youth Cham pionship

Round three of the Judd KTM ACU British Youth Championship at FatCat Motoparc over the weekend (July 6/7) was an incredible event, as riders battled hard for supremacy at the sandy and challenging Doncaster circuit. It was super-fast young guns Brian Gyles, Reece Jones, Finley Evans, Charlie Heyman, Max Ingham and Jack Grayshon who took the overall honours for the weekend, which was streamed live across all of the championship channels with a positive response. In the Official ACU British Rookie Championships, which awards riders in their first season in each championship category, Brian Gyles, Reece Jones, Billy Askew, Bailey Johnston, Louie Kessell and Max

Ingham took the top spots for the event. In the Auto class there was no stopping emerging talent Brian Gyles from Thailand, who took all five moto wins at the FatCat circuit. The youngster had to dig deep and battle hard, as taking second to fifth positions were Lucas Lee, Judd Orange Brigade’s Riley-Ray Barrow, Malachi Allan and Casey Lister. In the 65cc class there were also some close challenges throughout the weekend as riders tackled the tough sand circuit. Walking away with the top spot on the podium was SJP Moto’s Reece Jones with 211 points thanks to four moto wins. In second place was Kayden Boyd, whilst Freddie Gardiner took third with

20

Brandon Buckley, who won moto two, and Riley Ingram rounding out the top five. In the Small Wheel 85cc class the SJP Moto machine of Finley Evans took the weekend overall with a consistent performance to have an eight-point advantage over second placed Tyla Hooley, who took two moto wins. It was an action-packed weekend of racing in this class as Billy Askew onboard his SJP Moto machine took third with one moto win, as Shaun Mahoney and Josh Vail completed the top five. In the Big Wheel 85cc class SJP Moto’s Charlie Heyman took another overall win with four out of five race victories. In second place was Sam Atkinson, who took a moto win

PHOTOGRAPHY BY RHL ACTIVITIES IMAGES

and managed to clinch a one-point advantage over Judd Orange Brigade rider Bailey Johnston, who was third. Revo Husqvarna’s Ollie Colmer was fourth with Arai Elcock in fifth. In the 125cc class there were some close battles throughout the weekend, but Jack Grayshon shone through with a dominating performance to take all five moto wins. Second place went to Judd Orange Brigade rider Preston Williams who was second in each race, and in third overall was James Smith. Louie Kessell and Jude Morris were fourth and fifth. Finally, the Open Class was won by Verde Sports Racing’s Dominic Lancett, who took four out of the five motos with HCR Yamaha’s Max Ingham in second with the final moto win of the day. Jack Roberts took third with Ben Kennedy clinching fourth and Judd Orange Brigade’s Drew Anderson was fifth.

Throughout the weekend SCOTT Sports awarded the rider in each moto who reached the SCOTT Holeshot line first. It was great to see so many different riders taking a holeshot throughout the weekend, but a mention has to go to Bailey Johnston for taking all five holeshots in the Big Wheel 85cc class. Fox Head Europe partnered the series this weekend by sponsoring moto one and moto three to award the rider who had the fastest laptime in the race. We will be bringing you a full breakdown of the results from the weekend on our social media feeds, it was great to have them on-board and displaying at the event. In addition, the MX VICE and 24MX powered live stream was extremely popular – with viewers all around the world checking in to see the Judd KTM British Youth

21

Championship riders in action. Check out our Facebook to see the coverage from the weekend. The Judd KTM British Youth Championship now heads to the iconic track in Desertmartin, Northern Ireland on August 17 and 18 for the fourth round of the 2019. FINLEY EVANS SJP Moto’s Finley Evans looks to extend British Championship lead at Desertmartin The SJP Moto rider Finley Evans has had a positive first half to the 2019 Judd KTM British Youth Championship by currently holding the red plate for the British Small Wheel 85cc Championship. Finley currently leads with a 14 point gap. The Championship heads to Northern Ireland to the Desertmartin circuit on the weekend of August 17th and 18th, where Finley is looking to extend his points lead as the Championship heads into the final half of the 2019 season. Check out what Finley had to say when we caught up with him. We are now heading into the final half of the 2019 season. How has the season gone so far for you? Have there been any highlight moments? Finley Evans: “The season so far has been absolutely fantastic. I guess the highlight for me has to got to be winning my first British Youth Championship race at Culham earlier this year.” At the last round you had a strong weekend at Fatcats for the third stop of the Official British Youth Motocross Championship. How was it for you? Can you talk us through the weekend? Finley Evans: “Fatcats was a bit up and down for me. I was in second at the end of the day on Saturday which meant I knew what I had to do on the Sunday to keep hold of the red plate. All was going well until race four when I made a couple of stupid mistakes and gave a few points away. Thankfully I managed to keep it together and extend my points lead.”

You currently lead the British Small Wheel 85cc Championship with 14 points gap from second place rider Tyla Hooley. How does it feel leading the Official ACU British Championship and do you think you can keep the top spot? Finley Evans: “It feels amazing. I went into the season knowing that I wanted to be in the lead but it’s a strong group this year. I will do all I can on and off the track to try and keep hold of the red plate.” We now head to Desertmartin on August 17th & 18th for the fourth round. Desertmartin is known as one of the best tracks in Europe. What are your thoughts on the circuit, and can you tell us a bit about your plans and goals for the weekend? Finley Evans: “I love Desertmartin. It’s such a good track and I would love it if we could go every year. Obviously, I want to go out and smash it and it would be nice to make the points gap a bit bigger.” Can you tell us what you get up to in between meetings in regard to training and bike time? Finley Evans: “In between races I train with Ashley Wilde and RMJ Academy. At home I either go running, do circuits in our garage or I got to the local gym called Lift in Crewkerne.” Come see Finley and the rest of the Judd KTM British Youth Championship riders at Desertmartin in Northern Ireland on August 17th and 18th.
