LANGE MOTOKESKUS, ESTONIA
WELCOME /
TO THE WORLD JUNIOR MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP 2017 LANGE MOTOKESKUS, ESTONIA FIRSTLY ON BEHALF OF THE ACU & RHL ACTIVITIES LTD, THANK YOU TO ALL THE RIDERS FOR ACCEPTING THEIR PLACE IN THE TEAM GB AT THE FIM JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. This year’s event takes place at the Lange Motokeskus circuit, which is six kilometres from the city of Tartu in Estonia. The track is of sandy terrain and has previously played host to many national and international events including MXGP Training Academies, the Estonian Motocross Championship, the Superkauss Motocross Cup and now the World Junior Motocross Championship. Team GB riders have enjoyed success at the event in the past, especially highlighting the now-MXGP regular Conrad Mewse, who won the 85cc class in 2013, as well as Team GB’s podium finish in 2015. This year will see Wal Beaney, Ollie Colmer, Finley Evans, Roan Delaney and Keelan Hope compete in the 65cc class. Bobby Bruce, James Smith, Jack Lindsay and Eddie Jay Wade will contest the 85cc class and finally Jed Etchells, Rossi Beard, Chris Mills, Drew Anderson and Joel Rizzi will race in the 125cc class for the ACU Team GB. The riders have been selected to represent Great Britain within their classes, as recognition of their hard work, skill and professionalism they have shown within the sport and as such they are all Ambassadors representing the country, within the sport we are all passionate about. Whilst myself and my team are excited to have been offered the role of representing the Team, unfortunately this role was accepted at very short notice and I would ask everyone to work with us this year, to achieve the best we can out of this 2017 opportunity, with a view of commencing planning for 2018 immediately after 2017, with a full debrief and feedback from all those concerned. Myself and the RHL Team’s role is to represent the Team at FIM meetings, assist and work with the riders in dealing with any issues and ensure they have an enjoyable experience, competing with the best riders in the World at the pinnacle of your sport. Lets all make this a fun and enjoyable experience and strive to be the best junior team the ACU have sent to the World Championships. I look forward to seeing you. Yours in Sport

COACHING TIPS /
FROM RMJ ACADEMY’S ASHLEY WILDE
SOME OF YOU MAY BE AWARE THAT I PREVIOUSLY HAVE RACED AT THE CIRCUIT IN ESTONIA. THE CIRCUIT IS A GREAT VENUE AND THE TRACK REALLY IS AWESOME. THE GROUND IS A HARD BASED SAND SIMILAR TO SHERWOOD FOREST, DEPENDING ON WEATHER I WOULD SAY ITS A CHOICE BETWEEN A PADDLE TYRE OR SOFT GROUND TYRE. You may already know you are only allowed to put one bike through technical control. I advise if possible you still take two bikes in case you need to swap anything over. The temperature in Estonia can be similar to the UK in July, I advise you try and be prepared for any abnormal weather in terms of heat or wet conditions. Ashley Wilde with the RMJ Academy riders at Culham for the Thor British Youth Nationals
KEY POINTS
01/ 02/ 03/ 04/ It would be wise to try and ride similar type track and surfaces, such as Sherwood, Fat Cats Race Track, Preston Docks or any tracks you know of with this type of ground.
Starts. Starts are always important, however when every rider in the field is super fast it will make life a lot easier being at the front of the pack.
Qualifying. Obviously we all want to qualify and also as high up as possible. It would be a good idea to focus on practicing this in the lead up.
I hope these tips help and if anyone has any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Regards, Ash

Motos, The races at the finals will be longer than the races you’re used to racing in the UK, If possible try and practice some longer motos to prepare.

I FIND LIKE MOST THINGS IF YOU FAIL TO PREPARE YOU ARE PLANNING TO FAIL. LET ME PUT IT LIKE THIS, YOU WOULDN’T RACE A BIKE WEEK IN AND WEEK OUT WITHOUT STRIPPING, CLEANING GREASING AFTER EACH MEETING THIS IS THE PREPARATION YOUR BIKE REQUIRES IN ORDER TO BE AT IT’S OPTIMAL FOR RACING. LET’S PUT THE SAME EFFORT INTO YOURSELF THE MOST IMPORTANT MACHINE YOU WILL EVER HAVE CONTROL OF. HYDRATION When you sweat you lose iron’s these are also known as Minerals, They are essential for muscle activation this is where replacing your body with Electrolytes comes into play. CARBS & PROTEIN We all know that we need food to function, But it is vital that we make the right choices, Due to the nature of Motocross your body utilizes carbohydrates as it’s main fuel choice, this is due to the length of the races, So post races it is crucial that we replenish the carbohydrate stores
6
with fast acting carbohydrates - Bananas – Rice Cakes – Bagels are great choices to their ability to be broken down quickly. Protein – is an essential in helping the muscles repair, during a race your body will be pushed to the maximum so it will need to be repaired so you can go out in Moto 2 & 3 with all the tools to Kick some butt Sleep – Is going to be a very important factor here try and get at least 8 hours a night, This is where the body repairs itself by releasing growth hormone. Heat - It will be hot, so before you race wet a towel and place this into a fridge or a cool box post Moto strip down and get the cold towel and place this around the neck, this will reduce the body’s core temperature and assist with recovery. Have a great race guys.

STEVE MCCAULEY / FIRSTLY FROM MYSELF AS THE ACU MOTOCROSS COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN AND FROM THE ENTIRE TEAM AT ACU WE WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY OF THANKING YOU FOR COMPETING IN WORLD JUNIOR MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP THIS YEAR IN ESTONIA FOR THE ACU TEAM GB. This year we are pleased RHL Activities have accepted the opportunity to run the British team for 2017 and develop the plan for 2018 onwards. We the ACU and RHL Activities will be working together to further the sport and the British Youth Championship over the coming months and years. It is important to us all that we push our sport within the UK and bring new riders into the sport.
The ACU will work closely with RHL for 2018, in delivering and nurturing the 2018 World Junior team, from the official UK Junior Championship. The British Youth National Championship is the stepping-stone from club level into the British & World Championships. I am personally pleased to see many riders who raced in Team GB in previous year’s being picked once again for the team this year. Many have competed in their beginning years in youth motocross and now finishing or coming to the end of their youth motocross stages being a part of this huge world event representing their county. I would finally like to say, whatever happens out there remember it’s the taking part that counts, enjoy

and savour every moment of this fantastic opportunity and experience. Remember you are there because you are amongst the elite of the world’s youth riders. Wear your Countries flag with pride. I would like to wish you all the best of luck and lets go Team GB! Yours in Sport,
