introduction "Little Silver is a popular venue, which is set in 18 acres of countryside" Welcome to the penultimate round of the 2019 Judd KTM British Youth Championship. It’s an exciting time for us here at RHL Activities; we look forward to seeing some great racing at Little Silver. We are pleased to bring the Judd KTM British Youth Championship to Little Silver, Exeter for the fifth round of the 2019 Championship. As the Official ACU British Youth Motocross Championship heads into the final two rounds for the 2019 season, we expect it to be one of the highlights of the year. Little Silver is a popular venue, which is set in 18 acres of countryside. The track itself takes up approximately half the site, with the other half being the pits, paddock, spectator parking and viewing areas. The track is roughly one mile long with a number of wave sections, berms, ski jumps, step-ups, step-downs and tabletops. Part of our priority here at RHL Activities is to grow our sport, bring more junior riders into the championship and give our riders the very best platform to develop for the future. Over the last seven years I believe we’ve achieved a lot, and this season we will see another strong lineup of riders across all classes that will benefit from racing with the very best youngsters in the UK on some of the best tracks for their development. The Judd KTM British Youth Championship is the only gateway for young 4

riders to enter a World Championship event, and we look forward to seeing riders enjoy all the benefits of competing with us, while establishing themselves throughout the ranks of racing. We value all our partners who are incredibly important to the success and progression of the Judd KTM British Youth Championship. I would like to personally thank you all for your support, and we are of course highly motivated to continue our growth of the championship whilst improving it for existing riders, especially as we look to lead the way as the most professional youth series in Europe. I hope you all have a great weekend of racing and enjoy the fifth round of the 2019 season and look forward to seeing you all at the final round at Landrake on September 21st and 22nd for the Battle of the MX British Titles event.

Sand masters at Desertmartin for round four of the Judd KTM British Youth Championship

The weekend of August 17th and 18th saw the UK’s elite youth motocross riders head across the water to Desertmartin in Northern Ireland for the hotly contested fourth round of the Judd KTM British Youth Championship. As a world-renowned racetrack, the Northern Irish venue provided some first-class competition as the series enters the second half of the 2019 season. Lucas Lee, Brandon Buckley, Fin Wilson, Charlie Heyman, Preston Williams and Max Ingham took the honours in their respective classes. In the Auto Class Lucas Lee clinched the overall victory with four out of five race wins at the sandy circuit, with Judd Orange

Brigade’s Robbie Daly taking second place following some great battles throughout the event. Just a single point separates these two young bar-banging warriors in the championship, and the next rounds will certainly be interesting in the Auto category. Thai rider Brian Gyles had another outstanding weekend, cementing his status as a strong sand rider as the youngster concluded the event third overall with 189 points. Casey Lister and Malachi Allan completed the top five. Brandon Buckley had an actionpacked weekend of racing in the Junior 65cc class as he clinched his first overall with 217 points after taking the chequered flag for three out of the five races. In second

20

position was Freddie Gardiner, whilst SJP Moto’s Reece Jones, who is leading the standings by 26 points, took third and Charlie Richmond was fourth with just five points separating second to fourth overall. Fifth place went to SJP Moto’s Archie-Jay Girdham. The Small Wheel 85cc class provided some spectacular racing with the podium fight going right down to the wire on Sunday afternoon. Taking the top of the podium with 222 points was championship leader Tyla Hooley with four race wins, while second position went to Fin Wilson, who had just a one point advantage over third placed Shaun Mahoney. Billy Askew and Alex Henderson completed the top five.

PHOTOGRAPHY BY RHL ACTIVITIES IMAGES

It was the SJP Moto machine of Charlie Heyman that took the top step on the podium at Desertmartin for the Big Wheel 85cc class to retain his series’ lead with four wins over the weekend. In second was Sam Atkinson who clinched a moto victory and the youngster is just 16 points behind in the championship chase, with Revo Husqvarna’s Ollie Colmer in third position on the weekend. Charlie Palmer and Matthew Beattie finished in fourth and fifth positions. The Judd Orange Brigade machine of Preston Williams received the honours for round four in Northern Ireland in the hotly contested 125cc class that saw three different winners over the weekend. Wildcard rider Ryan Mawhinney put on a strong display for second overall with

two moto wins, whilst Judd Orange Brigades Louie Kessell was third. Fourth place went to Buster Hart and fifth went to James Smith, whilst Jack Grayshon, who won the final moto of the weekend and remains in the running for the championship, was sixth overall. In the Open Class the number 11 of Max Ingam dominated the class with five out of five race wins on the sand circuit to conclude a perfect weekend and he leads the championship by a

21

strong margin heading into the final two rounds. Second place went to Nathan Green followed by Jack Moore in third. Jak Henderson and Jack Roberts rounded out the top five. In the Rookie Championships across the five classes, Brian Gyles, Freddie Gardiner, Shaun Mahoney, Ollie Colmer, Louie Kessell and Max Ingham took the honours for the Desertmartin round of the series. Once again SCOTT Sports Holeshot awards were awarded for each race throughout the weekend. Keep an eye for the latest championship standings in the coming days. JACK ROBERTS Jack Roberts talks about being second in the British Open Championship With the 2019 Judd KTM British Youth Championship heading into the final two rounds all eyes are on the Championship titles. One rider who currently sits in second in the British Open Championship is looking to push at Little Silver and the season finale at Landrake. Here is what Jack had to say when we caught up with him. RHL: We are heading into the final two rounds of the 2019 season of the Judd KTM British Youth Championship. How has the season gone for you so far and are there any highlights from the season you wish to share? Jack Roberts: “The season has gone really well so far stayed consistent all year.” RHL: At the last round at Desertmartin you had a good weekend ending up 5th in the Open British Championship. How was it for you and what did you think of the track? Jack Roberts: “Desertmartin was ok with a 5th overall the track was really good just got to put in some good results for the last the rounds.”

RHL: Your currently 2nd in the British Open and British Open Rookie Championships. We head to Little Silver down near Exeter next weekend for the penultimate round of the season. It is a popular circuit in the south. Can you tell us what your thoughts are on the track and can you tell us a bit about your plans and goal for the weekend? Jack Roberts: “I’m really happy being second in the British Championship. I have never ridden Little Silver before, so it’ll be good to see what it’s like, just have to stay consistent and keep pushing”
