Vogue-It Earrings

These are so vogue you’ll want to wear them right away! All jewelry-making materials used here can be found in the jewelry-making section of any craft store.

Heart Earrings

You will need: ✽ Safety pin ✽ Pastel seed beads ✽ Shellac spray (or improvise with clear nail polish) ✽ String wire ✽ Crimp tubes ✽ Crimping tool ✽ Crimp cover ✽ 3-mm jump rings ✽ Wire cutter ✽ Ear wires ✽ Flat-nose ✽ Round-nosed pliers ✽ A pair of completed

Put it all together: 1. Use the safety pin to poke a tiny hole in the origami heart (see photo for placement). 2. Thread stringing wire through the hole. 3. Thread 20 seed beads on each side of the wire. 4. Thread the ends of the wire through the crimp tube. Loop the wire ends around the jump ring and pass back through the tube. 5. Pinch the tube closed with your crimping tool.

6. Cover the crimp tube with your crimp cover, squeezing gently closed with your fl at-nose pliers. 7. Thread your jump ring through a safety pin. Use the pin to hang up your model, then spray model with shellac (or paint it with clear nail polish). 8. Let dry for 1-2 hours. Remove model from the safety pin. 9. Carefully use pliers to attach the jump ring to an ear wire.

High-Heel Earrings

You will need: ✽ Safety pin ✽ Pastel seed beads ✽ Shellac spray (or improvise with clear nail polish) ✽ Eye pins ✽ Ear wires ✽ Flat-nose pliers ✽ Round-nose pliers ✽ Wire cutter ✽ Ear wires ✽ Round-nosed pliers ✽ A pair of completed

Put it all together: 1. Use the safety pin to poke a tiny hole in the top of the heel (see photo for placement). 2. Thread an eye pin up through the hole. 3. With your round-nose pliers form a loop in the eye pin, a little above the heel. 4. Holding the loop with the fl at-nose pliers, wrap the protruding part of the pin around the base of the loop 3-4 times. 5. Use the wire cutter to trim any excess eye pin. 6. Thread the loop you made in steps 3-4 through a safety pin. Use the pin to hang up your model, then spray with shellac (or paint with clear nail polish). 7. Let dry for 1-2 hours. Remove the origami model from the safety pin. 8. Carefully use pliers to attach your loop to your ear wire. And that’s all there is to making fun jewelry that’s fun to wear or give to a friend.
