In twenty years, I’d like to think back and remember all the fun times I’ve had in my extra-curriculars. I’ve spent years playing in bands throughout Rocklin High and I’ve really enjoyed all my time in all of them, especially my time in the marching band. Performing at all of the football games, traveling for performances, all of our trips and all the different memories I’ve made. A specific memory that speaks to me is the first time I played tenor drums at pep band. I got to also play them the next year, so it really spoke to me. On tenor drums there’s the song “Jig 2” that everyone in the crowds seems to love, so getting to play that in front of the crowd is something very exciting to me.

After I graduate, I’m planning on pursuing a degree in engineering, most likely petroleum engineering. I’m currently debating between going to UNR (University of Nevada-Reno) or University of Idaho for the first two years of college. After that I want to go to Montana Tech in Butte, Montana and continue studying petroleum engineering. I’m really persuing petroleum engineering because I feel that it’s a resource that we’re always going to need. Even if we’re not using it for direct energy, we’re going to use it for tires, plastics and tupperware etc. so I just thought it was going to be an interesting field. I won’t be in the best places in the world doing this, but it’s something that I seem to enjoy.

20 years from now, I really want to remember the friendships and goofy interactions I had with everyone while I was here on campus. I really think that those type of memories are the most important kind you can have while growing up. Of course grades in school are important, but to me I really think that remembering all of the good times and memories that you make are even more important. For me it’s just being able to keep a healthy lifestyle first.

My next step after graduation will be going off to college, like most kids. Right now I’m hoping to major in computer engineering. I still haven’t committed anywhere, but I hope that I can succeed anywhere I choose to go. The thing about computer engineering for me is obviously that I like computers. While programming is not for me, I feel that I’m good at it and will enjoy what I do.

Something that I know I’ll never forget from high school is COVID. It was really difficult with always switching school schedules. From online to hybrid to AM/PM to normal, it was a lot. I want to look back and think how crazy that was. It’s definitely a once in a lifetime thing that happened that I want to remember how crazy it made the whole world. When quarantine first happened, I really wanted to focus on myself and make sure everything in my life was good. So I started to work out with all my friends. We would go to each other’s houses and work out. If COVID and quarantine didn’t happen then I don’t think I would be the person I am right now.

After high school I plan on going to Sierra College and just want to figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life. I really want to figure out what fits my life and see what I’m truly passionate about. Without a doubt something that makes me happy and I won’t not want to work. I honestly don’t have a certain idea on the exact path for me, so this is why I want to take some time to figure that out. However, I’m leaning toward something with computers just since I know I can rely on them.
