If so you need a college study programme that prepares you. The Accrington and Rossendale college military academy already has an excellent track record of its students progressing into the armed forces, but from September 2017, our all new military academy will be unique. It will be focused on vocational learning and work experience to help you develop the skills and personal qualities that the armed forces look for in their recruits.

We run a one academic year, full time programme. The course runs for 34 weeks and covers everything the potential new recruit needs to pass military selection and then basic training - ranging from field craft skills, physical training and personal administration. All our instructors are either currently serving soldiers or ex services with a huge amount of service years’ experience. During your programme you will complete the Duke of Edinburgh award, which is widely recognised and a highly respected achievement. You will also achieve a level 1, 2 or 3 Public Services Btec qualification.

Accross Military Academy is currently the only college in Lancashire to offer residential courses with all of the services including the Royal Marines. You will spend 3-4 nights at recruit training establishments for phase one recruits learning first-hand how training is conducted within these services. There is also the chance to take control and fire the Army’s SA80 A2 personal weapon. Here at Accross we guide and coach you through the whole recruitment process.

Choosing the Military Academy here at Accross and making us the college of choice will all but ensure basic training is a breeze.
