The Pennine Film Festival is a premiere event at the heart of Lancashire that develops and inspires young and new filmmakers.

to the Eighth Pennine Film Festival. Last year’s festival was a massive success and we are hoping that this year’s will be bigger and better. All events will take place in the Coppice Theatre at Accrington and Rossendale College. All events are FREE to the public but numbers are limited.

Plus, a question and answer session with director Basil Al-Safar ‘The purchase of a mystery Jigsaw Puzzle from a strange and unsettling vendor leads a man to an evening of frightening consequences.’


Tuesday 11th March, 6:00pm - 8:30pm Screenings of Locally Made Short Films

Directed by James Walton

Plus, a question and answer session with the directors ‘Tommy Rogers lives in the middle of a working class town in the north of England; He spends most of his days alone, caring for his alcoholic mother leading to alienation from his peers and numerous encounters with his mum’s violent and abusive boyfriend.’

Plus, a question and answer session with the directors ‘Signs & Wonders: The mysteries of now. A film claiming to document the last afternoon in the life of a failed artist. Sonny tries to convince us of his magical, spiritual world vision before he quits this world forever.’

Plus, a question and answer session with the directors ‘A record store owner is having a midlife crisis and his questioning his life choices and values in an ever more consumerist world.’

Best Documentary Feature - The Poseidon Project An American scuba diver. A lost British submarine. A secret Chinese history. The Poseidon Project is a documentary about a British submarine that sank off the coast of China in 1931, and the American explorer who spent six years looking for it. Directed by Arthur and Luther Jones.

Best Documentary Short - Realms of Imagination ‘Realms of Imagination explores these stereotypes and investigates the social and financial elements surrounding RPG and delves into fantasy lives of some of Britain’s most avid role-play gamers, providing an emphatic insight into a multimillion-pound industry unaffected by public opinion.’ Produced by Sean Keating & Amy Bolton.


Wednesday 12th March, 1:30pm - 3:30pm Screening of The Last British Execution

Plus, a question and answer session with director Iain Cash

When an execution is sanctioned in the UK for the first time in almost 50 years, it soon becomes a media circus. The television rights are sold, and it becomes the worlds biggest reality TV show, re-branded as X-Day.

‘A Plateful of Tony follows hapless eccentric John Douglas, a lonely-heart pursuing his grotesque ambition of seeking a friend with similar interests by surfing the world wide web.’

‘Panic sets in as Mr B waits in the reception of an office building, he is waiting to be interviewed for a new job. Extremely paranoid and nervous, Mr B’s mind begins to play tricks on him.’

Best Student Short - Paradigm ‘Calvin and Lily are brother and sister whose parents are going through a divorce. Lily does not recognise this at first, but eventually grows to understand and accept this thanks to Calvin’s help.’ Directed by Stephen Boyer.

Best Narrative Feature - The Precipice ‘In a pre-apocalyptic world two ex-soldiers one woman, one man - traverse enemy territory in an attempt to reach the only location that holds the key to saving them and the country.’ Directed by Michael Hatch.
