FIT YUN GAO Selected Works 2018-2020
B.Arch in Architecture, School of Architecture and Urban Planning Shandong Jianzhu University
PROLOGUE
Fit can mean acting according to circumstances in Chinese. Architectural design, to some extent, is the expression of personal feelings and options, but the final built result is not transferred by people’s subjective will. Although the architects initially construct their “dream buildings” with great enthusiasm, frequently, they are finally too subjective to be practical. The inevitable gap between the design and application limits us, puzzles us and also brings the most suitable model for our design. People’s life is always rising here and subsiding there, to be in unstable and complex situations. The new and the old, the strong and the weak, progress and backwardness, the global and the local are steadily decomposed into consumption choices and identity preferences. The fast-moving birth-death iteration between the new and the newer, the different and the much more different has made the orderly inherited historical preservation of time and space collapse. As a result, life has also become scenes of condensed “ living reincarnation” that needs the dwelling of emotion. As a former dancer and bandsman communicating with the world in such kind way, I focus on users from different backgrounds and conduct the most restrained architectural design with the purest purpose. This portfolio both includes the small-scale works (Farewell & Translation) that employ pure materials and forms to inspire the return of the user’s pure emotion and the large-scale activation of the whole region (Rebirth, Interchange & Healing). Facing the whirligig of life by virtue of architectural means and the users and sites with the most cautious attitude, I hope that I could make the most humble and appropriate architectural design. In user’ ordinary and lively daily life, it can be occasionally lightened by the buildings.

01 REBIRTH Industrial Park Renovation Academic, Individual Project Tutor: Wenbo Fang Fall 2018 Site: Licheng,Jinan,Shandong
The 1990s laid-off tide did not overwhelm Ji Gang Group, but the 2015 industrial upgrade and new layout plan finally made the largest enterprise in western Jinan face with relocation. Too many workers were forced to retire and the original site was forced to become a group of abandoned steel beasts. Through the re-layout of the corner of the huge plant, this plan tries to make the rebirth of the site through taking advantage of the original industrial architec tural style like conducting a acupuncture therapy with the gentle architectural function. The exhbition hall combines the industrial elements of the broken-line structure. Shops and streets combine the style of factories and warehouses. The landscape architecture integrating pressure tank and truss structure establish the new urban memory. No matter for the workers buying off the serving years and the workers’ children shuttling through the park since the childhood or the friends that have just become Jinan people, they all can come here to have a look and walk, looking forward to the future while missing the past. It is not only the renascence of the city, but also another recall of the fading industrial elements.

The project plans to be located in the office area and isolation zone of the original plant. The identity of nonpolluting areas makes it possible to set up urban parks. We employ the industrial elements to deduce the architecture-street-blank space design order to enable users to retrieve the original industrial memory and obtain the renascence. With the decrease of spatial interface, people tend to return to nature and the most primitive appearance of this land, which is also the original intention of industrial upgrading and layout transformation for many major cities at present. The introduction of urban parks activates the unique vitality of the new urban center.

02 INTERCHANGE Park Public Space Design Academic, Individual Project Tutor: Rui Li Winter 2019 Site: Maxvorstadt, Munich, Bayern
In Germany with the relatively high aging trend in the world, there are lots of elderly people living with less communication with young people in the urban area of Munich, Bavaria. The project is located in the Englischer Garten, the green lung of Munich and being in the center of Munich, which is also the largest urban park in Europe and around the world. On the basis of the original woodland, the geometric language is used to simulate the scene of people’s activities in the forest to provide a place for people to communicate in this renowned park. The new acquainted people can take a rest in the featured landscape, the familiar people can enter cafes and large multiplepeople gatherings will have a larger building volume to bear. Different geometric shapes contain a variety of communication. The experiencers with different experiences and novices can communicate in this polysemous building.
World Population Aging Trend
At the beginning of 1950, the European area has began to have an aging population. This trend has grown over the next hundred years. More than a quarter of Germany’s population is estimated to be over 65 years old by 2050. Based on such kind of large number of elderly people, how to provide them with appropriate urban space has become an urgent matter.

Facade Analysis T he facade of the building is based on the outline of the hexagonal. Under the principle of the unity of intersection points, each building is cut into rich polygons, like a few wellproportioned stones scattered in the corner of the park seen from the sky, which is beneficial but not eye-catching in the whole park.

Under the impact of the overall “Biology-Psychology-Society” medical model, the medical space of the modern hospital architecture design develops to depth and breadth. The value concept, function structure and space form of the hospital are also undergoing great changes. Faced with the current aging trend, the reality of large number of elderly people and urgent health care need is the social background of this design. The medical service system facing the aging society is not perfect and the allocation of medical service resources is unreasonable, leading to the development of medical buildings for the elderly in China still lagging far behind the huge demand of the rapidly growing elderly population. Based on the medical buildings serving the elderly people, this design puts forward the medical building design scheme for the elderly that is suitable for the Chinese social development through the analysis and research on the features of the medical needs of the elderly and the development status of Chinese medical building system, as well as the discussion on the particularity, convenien ce, safety and comfort of the medical building for the elderly.

Global Medical Resources According g to the world Health Organization survey, China has a low level of medical resources and the highest degree of medical redundancy. For Chinese patients, getting to a hospital can be a challenge. On the contrary, in northern Europe, where per capita medical resources are abundant, such as Iceland, scientific hospital architectural design also makes transportation very convenient. Therefore, the developing China needs to focus on the development of efficient transportation system and practical application of hospitals.

04 FAREWELL Memorial Hall Design Academic, Individual Project Tutor: Sihan Li Summer 2019 Site: Siwan Lake Village,Huaian,Jiangsu
For my grandfather I have abandoned all prejudices since I learned architecture and attempted to create a place for his soul through pure feelings of love and pain. My grandfather is a real man, the purest farmer, the most respected village chief, who has never forgotten to struggle in his life. He was ill for a long time, but he did not bring any trouble to his children. Our new house was the last big thing in his life. However, when it was built, he died without leaving a word. I don’t want to mourn too much for him. I did not even shed a tear for him at his important ceremony. In the middle of the night, when the other people dispersed, I knelt in the mourning hall, complaining that he did not wait for me. My dad often says that your grandpa was as stubborn as a mule. Like the metasequoia he planted, you can see it a few miles away when driving home.

Rainfall in China declines from southeast to northwest.Located in the southeast coast of China, Jian VgSu province receives plenty of rainfall from the Pacific northwest monsoon, making it ideal for aquatic plants.
Mourning is a way to retain, a kind of resistance to the passing of the dead. But all of our mourners will die, and mourning is essentially an act of known certainty. The film arrival says that heptapods' mind is known to have begun and to have been destined, and then to have chosen in the middle. The same is true of mourning. The final death is inevitable, and we should cherish every wonderful moment in the middle. Mourning is a way to retain, a kind of resistance to the passing of the dead. But all of our mourners will die, and mourning is essentially an act of known certainty.

In the design of this scheme, the aboveground part is for mourners and friends to mourn, while the underground part is more private for families to remember the lost. The aboveground and subterranean parts are mirror images of each other, while the exterior view of the aboveground part 41
is a tree, while the subterranean part, as seen from the figure of the window, is an instrument used by the deceased during his life.

05 TRANSLATION Design of Community Center for Drama Festival Academic, Individual Project Tutor: Shirong Hou Summer 2018 Site: Wuzhen, Tongxiang, Zhejiang
The Wu Qing Drama Club is a grassroots group without its own performance venue and rehearsal venue. They expect to carry forward their works. However, The Wu Qing Drama Club, like many of the theaters created by the tide of Wuzhen Drama Festival, has no place for rest. At usual, the local troupes do not have the rehearsal and performance venues, which is very fatal. This plan hopes to have a polysemous exhibition space. In addition to performance and classroom space, the remaining space does not seem to need a clear division. In the exhibition hall, people can have an understanding of the history of Tongxiang “San Tiao” (one kind of traditional Tongxiang folk art using bamboo boards as percussion instruments for accompaniment) and the exhibition hall can also be the place for people to use bamboo board and clumsily start to say the first “San Tiao” lines. The classroom is certainly a place for learning. If people were surrounding the coppery sculpture that recreates the “San Tiao” performance situation in the exhibition hall to practice “San Tiao” led by the old masters, it would be a better study method when the visitors are in the distance and the silent cooper sculpture is near.
Background
Wuzhen officials use fancy styles to attract tourists.Under the concept of "Cultural Wuzhen", Wuzhen Drama Festival began to be held.
Prototype Extraction
Wuqing Drama Club, as one of the derivates of the drama festival, is formed spontaneously by local youth in Tongxiang.
Drama club is in urgent need of rehearsal space, always depend on others, the commune members are suffering.
Local intangible cultural heritage, the unique form of drama "Tongxiang Three jumps" encounter fault.
Members of the drama club are also teaching acting basics on a part-time basis to children who are in desperate need of teaching space.
