with the existing characteristics and conditions of the area.

Genus Loci

The construction site was selected looking to minimize impact on the natural reserve. There were considerations t a k e n fo r f l o o d i n g a re a s, a cce s i b i l i t y, e x i s t i n g ve g e t a t i o n and programatic compliances.

Throughout this studio a series of conceptual, site and detailed models were made to reinforce the central idea of the design.

The BREWER MUSEUM seeks to showcase the brewing process of Savannah produced beers, stimulating tourism and

the local econo-

Bump and Mind Comme Des Garรงon HQ S AVA N N A H , U S A

Architectural Fundamentals III Spring 2014 Professor Jean Jaminet

The architectural design discourse follows an object oriented ontology where the experience and space quality overcome human scale. The site is located on a high end shopping district in Japan adjacent to other fashion company iconic buildings.

The concept is inspired from

the

Comme des Garรงons fashion editorial where two objects stand as one while maintaining their individual attributes.

High end retail Aoyama District including the iconic Prada Store by Herzog & De Meuron give context to the proposed Comme des Garcon HQ Half of the site is left as a plaza to provide a public gathering place for locals and tourists. The design is nested within the corner site to create a transitional approach from the urban pedestrian path to the building entrance.

Architectural Fundamentals I Fall 2013 Professor Samuel Olin

The project illustrates how the design process in architecture develops, from conceptual material studies, program schematic modeling, circulatory consideration, structural implementation to the final aesthetic cohesion.

A series of excercises were assigned to explore s p a ce, e a c h w i t h a s e t o f p a r a m e te r s to a b i d e by. The excersices built upon each other by developing a modular kit of parts.

The footprint repetition of the initial designs created a grid that set up the parameters for the following prompt. The final model was the product of a study of movement, light and circulation. Ample glazing in the northern facade provides indirect daylighting while shading panels block direct sunligh on the eastern and western facade. Skylights and a centralized atrium allow fo r a c h i m n e y e f fe c t to co o l t h e b u i l d i n g p a s s i ve l y.
