It was a very simple case of 3 bored teenagers living in We've been lucky enough to have our music already the suburbs. Billy and Josh were already playing together, and one day I was hanging out with them and used in a few films. It's normally used in an action or Billy suggested he could teach me how to play bass. We fight scene, which I think is because the music is so energetic. then started playing covers of our favourite bands, like Nirvana and playing local gigs. We eventually started What are your favorite albums at the moment? writing our own songs and playing more and more gigs. After a few years we won a competition to play at There's two bands that supported us on many of our gigs Glastonbury festival, and I guess we've never looked on the last tour, The Computers and The Dancers, who are brilliant. back since. Yes! We would love to! One of my main ambitions for We loved working with Stephen Street to record this this album is to tour in as many new countries as album. We also spent a long time working really hard on the songs for this album, so it felt like a relief when we possible. We've already been to Spain, Italy, Denmark, finally went into the studio. The recording was kind of a Sweden and Norway for the first time this year. I think celebration for us, as we'd already done most of the hard Portugal is high on the list for the next place to go! work and now could concentrate on having fun recording. Lyrically, Billy was very influenced by two main themes: money and the financial crisis and celebrity with the rise of reality TV shows and the obsession with celebrity. In terms of the sound of the record, we wanted every song to be very energetic and for them to be instantly played live.
How does it differ from previous releases?
I think one of the main differences is that Billy wrote the lyrics first for this album, whereas on previous albums the music was always written first. I think musically it sounds like a mix between the pop melodies from our first album and the heavier more energetic sound of the second album.
A pertinent question: Who's your Rock 'n Roll queen?
I have many female idols that have influenced me, such as Courtney Love, Shirley Manson, PJ Harvey. But I think my ultimate Rock'n'Roll Queen has got to by Kylie Minogue.
