Telepathy

On their new EP "Fracture" and how they became an online success almost over night... How did the band form? We formed around halfway through 201 0. Myself, Piotr and Albert were all on a music course here in England and all loved the same kind of music, but were playing in different bands at the time. After a while, all our other projects fizzled out and we decided to start this group as a way to make the kind of music we had always wanted to. I think for all of us it's been a really liberating experience as the band really has nowhere we're afraid to go musically, and we're all free to indulge whatever crazy ideas come to us.

However, thats just our base idea of the record, really every person is free to make up there own mind about the EP and attach there own story to it. I guess is one of the beauties of an instrumental release, the level of freedom it can give both the band and the listeners.

You released "Fracture" free on BandCamp. Do you think that this is a good way to widen your audience? Yeah, definitely. A couple of years ago, without a label or promotion a band like us would have never reached so many people, so its great to be able to release the EP completely independently and for so many people to be able to hear it. How was the recording of "Fracture"? Recording the EP was a lot of fun. We recorded it over a We've been really fortunate and lucky that a lot of blogs and magazines have featured the release, and soon we'll be couple of weekends in June of this year at a great studio in hitting our 1 000th download of the EP which is just Ipswich, U.K. The owner/engineer there, Mark Harwood, has staggering, considering that before July, no-one even knew a pretty impressive collection of vintage amplifiers and microphones which were a lot of fun to use and helped to we existed! It just shows there is a market for this kind of stuff and we're just super thankful that so many people have give us the organic and sludgey tone we were hoping to bothered to check us out and have liked the music. achieve.

What's the concept behind it? Well initially the EP was about a persons attachment to the physical world, how everyone has a potential to free themselves from whatever bad things may be happening, by looking at the endless possibilities that present themselves to us.

If your music were to be adapted into film, what story Would you like to come to Portugal? would it tell? We would love to! At the moment we haven't had any offers, One involving a lot of coffee, cigarettes and Polish beer ha- but if people want to see us there, and some promoters want ha! To be honest this isn't something we've ever thought oh. to bring us over on a support slot , we would love to make it As far as the type of film goes, hopefully something gritty, happen! with a lot of twists and an unconventional storyline. Who knows, we would love to have a music video for one of the tracks one day, maybe then someone could tell us what it Design & Interview: Rick would be! Words: Richard Powley Photo courtesy of Telepathy What are your favorite albums at the moment? At the moment I'm massively into this new Will Haven record "Voir Dire". It's just relentlessy heavy and the atmosphere they've created is amazing. The new Alpinist/Masakari Split LP is awesome, and so is Krugers latest record "..For Death, Glory And The End of The World". Other than those I've been listening to a lot of Kylesa and Botch recently, as well as Fever Ray, Mogwai, Wu Tang and DJ Shadow. A couple of other bands people should check out are Another Dead Hero, Three thrones and Hoof, all great bands from around our area.
