ScoutOut & the Somerset Scouts Brief: Produce a bimonthly newsletter for the Scouting community of Somerset (circa 4500 people). The ScoutOut project began in 2010 and is now 15 issues strong being regularly communicated digitally to Scouts and Scout Leaders in Somerset and beyond. We source content, commission photography, manage corporate messaging, graphic design, publish and market ScoutOut on behalf of the Somerset County Scout Council. Sure VoIP Infographics Brief: Design two infographics explaining VoIP technology for our partner clients and their customers. Distilling what value people can get from new and complex technologies is one of the key challenges facing technology marketeers. Infographics are a visual and engaging way to explain why buying something a bit complicated should be very exciting and deliver great benefits. Infographics can work for any kind of business that has a complex message to get across whether it’s explaining the process behind the screen t-shirt printing you do or explaining the benefits of your new app idea. We’ve a rich background in communicating technology and ideas in a visual way.



Sure VoIP is a VoIP wholesaler. The ‘Hello Operator’ infographic (right)was designed for SureVoIP’s partner clients to use in selling VoIP systems to their prospective customers. The API Partner Technology infographic (previous page) was commissioned by SureVoIP to help them sell their wholesale products, with API as a lead sales message, to prospective partner clients. The design process took an otherwise complex message and turned it into a visually stimulating and easy-to-digest piece of marketing. Staff Guardian is a UK startup innovating GPS, mobile and remote staff support technology. Our challenge was to take Staff Guardian’s exciting technology and weave a marketing strategy into it. We started with high level strategy, the product’s value proposition and some robust market research.

Work continued branding the company with a visual and corporate identity relevant to the market and product type. Staff Guardian’s strategy focusses on digital media with social, SEO, web design and content SEO marketing as priorities. A developed brand and identity was then used to create the visceral elements of the campaign: packaging, user guides and a company brochure. Richardesigns continues to manage the marketing strategy for Staff Guardian.

ScoutFest Marketing Strategy Brief: Sign up 1500 participants by Christmas. ScoutFest was a large Scout event for the South West run by the Somerset County Scout Council and we helped market it.

Scouting has a number of nuances specific to its market and a good deal of work was done prior to writing and embarking on the marketing strategy to ensure plans were appropriate for the Scouting community, its values and expectations. We ran a 12 month plan involving communication planning, graphic design, branding, external PR, event marketing, retail management of merchandise design and sale, customer engagement communication and media operation support during the event. This long term piece of work saw ScoutFest established as a successful new event for Scouting in the south west of England. The event was widely enjoyed by participants from across the South of England and it even achieved national television coverage as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012.


Our campaigns to market ScoutFest saw the coordination of a nationwide ‘ScoutFest banner tour’. This created a great deal of engaging content in the months building up to the event. Here the banner is photographed up Snowdon in Wales, January 2012. More information:

Lympsham First School Illustration Brief: A graphic illustration to showcase the school’s motto. Combining hand drawn self portraits from the pupils at Lympsham First School, this piece really does put children at it’s heart making their creations the central feature of the illustration. The school wanted a piece of fun, friendly, cartoonesque and youthful design with their motto and message worked in.

Project Ten Graphic Presentation Brief: To create a professionally stunning pitch presentation for board level selling Project Ten. Project Ten is a business growth initiative created by the client and pitched to a select few businesses to help improve their growth and sustainability in the insurance market. Our client wanted to use a graphic presentation to communicate his complex message clearly and concisely. As with many pitches there are many varied and exciting key selling points and ideas. This graphic presentation made communicating those ideas simple and engaging. Viewers commented on the high quality of the presentation materials and our client was very successful using the Project Ten graphic presentation to win the business.

Water Craft Magazine Editorial Cornwall based Water Craft magazine is one of the UK’s leading boat build and design specialist interest publications. Jonny Nance’s St Ives Jumbo is a heritage project with a cunning and inventive safety mechanism built into the vessel which sees self inflating bouyancy bags preventing total loss of the replica St Ives Jumbo should it sink or capsize. Richardesigns created this three page editorial for Water Craft Magazine interviewing Jonny Nance, photographing the bouyancy system and writing the article to include a description of the live test Jonny carried out in the harbour at St Ives. Photographs (in part), text and page layout design by Richardesigns.
