This chapter will locate, describe and investigate St. George’s Field.

Viewing the Dead

This chapter creates an image of the unseen.

Walking with the Dead

This chapter conceptualises the research and formalises the collected data to cause the unseen to be seen.

Cartesian Concepts

- Using the calculation for -/+ Z a vaulted compressive structure is formed across +Z in both X and Y directions. - Vaulted pathways over the site. - Larger vaults depicting the large volume of bodies below. - Geodesic structure allowing large spans. - Cumbersome and disrespectful to the environment and dead. - Site vegetation would be removed.

Walking with the Dead

- Calculation for -/+ Z a hung tensile structure is formed across +Z in both X and Y directions. - Netting to form the surface. - Growth form across it along with a build up of dead fauna, - Added experience of death and decay. - Would need a large supportive secondary structure to create the desired effect. - Similar to Concept 1 would be disrespectful to the site.

- Using calculation of -Z and +Z. - Individual elements of an overall scheme. - No disrespectful super-structure. - Little vegetation will need to be removed. - Retaining site entrances/exits but remove all paths. - Users of site will create own path.
