WHEN SETTING UP THE SCOPE not too general, and not too specific
if using questionnaire or survey, set limit (number of respondents) if using checklist, define variables (eg types of book borrowed vs days in a week, investigating number of books borrowed from PMU library in December 2015 session) set limit for duration to collect the data (if using questionnaire, eg on the spot, 1 day etc) set limit for period of time data to be counted (eg January to June, Monday to Sunday, 8am 11pm etc) - suitable for checklist

WHEN DECIDING ON METHOD OF DATA COLLECTION Using questionnaire/ survey form: respondents can give rich data and widen the spectrum for analysis Challenges: involves big samples, responses might not always be reliable, some questions might not have answers Using checklist: data is fixed and easy to gather Challenges: one-dimensional analysis (WYSIWYG) Using interview questions: can gain insights into respondents' attitude, behavior, perception etc Using observation: helps to understand situation better by monitoring
