inside the boardroom After an enforced break of 39 days, it is good to be back in competitive action under the lights at Creasey Park A very warm welcome to tonight’s visitors, Broadfields Utd, who gave us two excellent games last season. A 3 -0 reverse on the first day of the season and then a thrilling two all draw at their former ground-sharing home at Harefield.
During the lockdown we made some new signings. The first of these was Tyler Fry, himself a graduate from Pro Direct Academy Luton. Tyler has joined us from AFC Dunstable. He has been joined by George Carberry, Josh Going, Aaron Asare & James Ferguson.
They have moved now to ground share at Rayners Lane in Harrow, the London borough they were founded in 1993. We wish Ryan & all his colleagues, playing staff and supporters an enjoyable evening and safe journey home after the final whistle.
Marlon Burton has teamed up with Dan Blackman at Crawley Green and, Louis Octave has departed for Bedford Town. We thank both players for their hard work & commitment on the field & wish them every success at their new clubs.
You may have noticed the announcement on social media and in the Dunstable Gazette about our partnership with Pro Direct Academy Luton. This partnership should see us field an U19’s team in the National League U19’s Alliance & FA Youth Cup from the beginning of next season. It is a very exciting prospect and bodes well for the long-term future of the Club. There will be no financial cost to the Club at all and our hope is that as the Academy players graduate and finish their courses, they will feature more prominently in our First Team squad.
The Christmas Raffle being run by our Fundraising Manager, Peter Bottom has proved very popular with members of the public, fans, coaches & players. The first prize is £100, the second prize is a very generous Christmas Hamper. There are many smaller prizes. Tickets are just £1 each.60% of all money raised will go to the Adult Oncology our Charity Partner of the year, with the Club retaining 40%. Before kick-off tonight we will be holding a minute’s applause to celebrate the life of our former U18’s player, Gideon Appiah, who died on the 31st October a month after his 18th birthday. Wayne Upton, along with Cam Jenkins & Tyler Dunnell had the pleasure of coaching Gideon, and described him as being “a great footballer, respectful of players and coaches and being a funny and loving young man” We will arrange a more fitting tribute later in the season, but for tonight please clap like you’ve never clapped before & pay your respects to one of our own.

opposition spotlight..
The club was established in 1993 and joined the Southern Olympian League. They were Division Four champions in 1994– 95, after which they joined Division One of the Middlesex County League. The following season it was renamed the Senior Division, and Broadfields were champions, earning promotion to the Premier Division. Despite finishing bottom of the Premier Division in 1998–99, they were not relegated. However, in 2003–04 the club finished bottom of the Premier Division again and subsequently left the league.
In 2011–12 Broadfields won the Premier Division Cup, retaining it the following season. In 2014–15 a terrific end to the season saw Ryan Duffy and Chris Webster lead their side to promotion to the Spartan South Midlands League Division One. The side lost just one of their final ten games and were granted promotion on the final day. The 2015/16 season was the clubs first season in Spartan South Midlands League football saw them achieve an 11th place finish.
They returned in 2007, joining Division One West. Despite finishing second-from bottom of the division, they were promoted to the Premier Division for the 2008–09 season.
The side also reached the semi-final of the Division One Cup. The Sunday Side completed a quadruple, winning the Harrow Sunday Challenge Premier Division, the Premier Cup, the Champions Cup, and the Jack Walker Cup.
They withdrew from the league towards the end of the 2009–10 season, resulting in their record being expunged, but returned to the Premier Division for the 2010–11 season.
In the 2016/17 season the First team, under the guidance of Mark Barnham, Liam Bird & Ryan Duffy, won the Middlesex Premier Cup by defeating Hillingdon Borough 4-1 at Northwood

MATCH REPORT Eynesbury Rovers 3-3 Dunstable Tn A glorious hat trick from Captain, Chris Stapleton, so nearly sealed all three points in a thrilling game at table topping Eynesbury Rovers. Trailing 2 -1 at half time, Dunstable showed greater urgency and fight in the second half pushing forward in wave after wave of white shirts, going ahead for the second time in the match in the 86th minute with the best goal of the afternoon, only to be pegged back in stoppage time, and eventually having to settle for a share of the points. Backed by a very healthy number of away supporters who were vocal all afternoon, Gareth Jackson gave a debut at centre half to new signing James Ferguson, and gave debuts from the subs bench to George Carberry, Josh Going and Tyler Fry. Dunstable were ahead as early as the 12th minute when Stapleton beat the offside trap to slot home past the advancing Eynesbury keeper. The assist coming from Tommy Twelves who played the through ball to allow Stapleton to work his magic. Dunstable continued to press but Eynesbury came back strongly. Dan Gould needed to be at his best making some important saves but even he could not stop an equaliser for the home side on the half hour. Tails up, Eynesbury scored a second just two minute later, despite the heroic efforts of Dan Gould to keep it out. It was Jimmy Greaves who once memorably said football was “.a funny old game..” Seasoned followers of Dunstable Town understand that only too well. From being very nearly two goals ahead to being a goal behind in a matter of a few minutes was a harsh account of the game thus far.
With the SSML reducing half-time to ten minutes to reduce the risk of Virus spread, Dunstable came out of the traps for the second half fired up and battling hard at every twist and turn. There was greater urgency and pressure higher up the field. Davide Pobbe tried an audacious lob which landed on the top of the net in the first minute of the second half, but it was a sign of clear intent from Dunstable that they had come to prove a point and restore some pride. Tyler Fry came on for Davide Pobbe on the hour mark, and his introduction swung the game in Dunstable’s favour. A product of Pro Direct Academy Luton, Dunstable’s new Academy partner, Fry was soon in the thick of things on the right-hand side and it was his sublime cross which was met with all the grace and eloquence Stapleton possesses that gave Dunstable the lead with less than five minutes to go. Stapleton had equalised from the spot in the 73rd minute and had given the 30 or so Dunstable supporters something to really cheer about. A few minutes later the same player could not convert a second penalty kick but his hero status among the faithful remained intact and undented. As the game moved into stoppage time the hosts got an equaliser and but for the bravery of Gould may have bagged a very late winner. An excellent team performance warmly applauded by the Town fans who saluted their heroes at the final whistle and who had the compliment returned to them in a terrific display of mutual respect and unity.

all the latest news and views from the dunstable town youth section After another enforced break, the team picked up where they left off with an excellent 5-1 away win at Flitwick Eagles Blues. This result was especially pleasing due to dropping points with a 3-3 draw earlier in the season against these opponents, who also did the double over the boys the previous season. There were some strong performances that contributed to an encouraging all round team effort, Michael dominated the midfield area, with Harry working the opponents hard. Buddy scored a brace including a wonder goal and Callum made some amazing saves. Jake made a welcome return after injury to further strengthen a defence that had kept two consecutive clean sheets. The result keeps the team at the top of the league but with Flitwick Eagles Golds and Tattenhoe close on their heels. Next fixture is the local derby vs Leighton Town.

Ferdinand Hits The Jackpot On 15 December 2001, Tottenham striker Les Ferdinand scored the Premier League’s 10,000th goal, helping to deliver a win for his team and £10,000 to charity. The milestone goal came during a match against Fulham at White Hart Lane in the Premier League’s tenth season. Ferdinand, who had been a prolific scorer at QPR and Newcastle, was in his fifth year with Spurs, but had failed to recapture his previous form. He scored ten goals for Tottenham across all competitions in the 2000-01 campaign, the first time he had cracked double digits for them. Against Fulham, however, he got off to a quick start, scoring in the 20th minute to put Spurs up 1-0. Thanks to the Tottenham defense-anchored by goalkeeper Neil Sullivan, who kept a clean sheet--it was the only goal they needed, but they got a trio of insurance goals from Darren Anderton (40’, from a Ferdinand assist), Simon Davies (71’), and Sergei Rebrov

to set the final margin at 4-0. To commemorate the landmark goal, the Premier League awarded Ferdinand £10,000 for donation to the charity of his choice. He selected two cancer charities, splitting the money evenly between them.
