Welcome to Paul, Matt, the coaching team, players, committee, and supporters from Crawley Green ahead of today’s FA Vase game. Another home game awaits us and another tough game ahead. Crawley Green have started the season well and fair credit to them have recruited well over the close season. We expect a tough test for our group and know the requirements we need to reach to ensure it is us that is in the hat for the next round. Crawley have several players in their group that have Dunstable Town connections in the recent history. Any time players depart we always wish them well but not when they play against us! I was very proud of my players once again last Sunday that saw us progress to the next round of the FA cup. I felt we started well and I made a conscious decision to change our warm-up routine and timings as we had started too many games too slowly. I felt it worked and we had good spells in possession of the ball early in the game. We did a lot of work on our shape and structure without the ball last week to get pressure higher up the pitch and fair play to my players for the way they implemented the plan from training to the game. We didn’t have it all our own way and an excellent save from Charlie Jones making his home debut ensured that West Essex didn’t take the lead. I was really pleased for Charlie who got injured in pre-season and has had to be patient but credit to him, he did well. Charlie and Connor Coulson push each other weekly in training which is great to see. We had some good opportunities before breaking the deadlock through Remell Stirling. Remell got in behind the West Essex back line for the 2nd time. The first time he unselfishly squared the ball and unfortunately, we couldn’t capitalise.

There was to be no mistake with the 2nd time though as Remell rifled the ball into the roof of the net which I would defy any Goalkeeper to save. I was so pleased for Remell. His attitude to improve has been outstanding and he is a great asset to us. Remell was initially known by many as “Remell, J’Ardell’s brother” but rightfully stands now as Remell Stirling in his own right. Both J’Ardell and Remell are great for us, and I love working with them both and hopefully that journey continues for some Anothertime.game and another goal for Kelvin. Another well taken volley gave us a 2-goal lead which overall we deserved. 2-0 leads are always difficult leads to hold. Human nature means there is always that caution and as we always say goals change games. Fair credit to West Essex they came out 2nd half and took it to us. Despite them having more of the ball it wasn’t until the goal that was Charlie called upon. We had further chances in the 2nd half but didn’t take them which made the end a tense affair. The players give me and the club everything and that again was personified by 3 outstanding last-ditch tackles by Ethan Creary, Kyle Davison-Gordon and finally by Terrence Muchineripi. The energy, intensity, and leadership once again by our partnership of Alfie Osborne and Benji Crilley was crucial. They covered so many miles I was exhausted watching them. Harry Beaumont getting back to fitness has been a massive boost and brings excellent quality to the group and made some crucial interceptions and headers in the game. Tolu Ikuyinminu continues to improve his overall tactical understanding in and out of possession and is another player who is continuing to improve and is turning in some great performances at present. Whilst the players are delivering consistent performances, they know they must keep delivering as players are chomping at the bit to play. Liam McCrohan, Dylan Baker, Jamie Nicholls, Joe Mead, and Tom Bryant are all top players for this level and have a big part to play for us this season. These players became unavailable during pre-season and fair credit to the group that got the shirt, they have delivered. It is for that reason players understand they need to be patient and when their opportunity arises, they need to be ready to take it. The group is a tight group and really together and that continues to ensure we all support each other. Every week is a headache leaving players out. Whilst we are pleased with our unbeaten start, we never allow ourselves to get carried away. Crawley Green will pose a stern test to see where our group is at present and we know if we are to win, we need to ensure we are at our best. Anything less than that will see our FA Vase campaign finish at the 1st hurdle. I was a little disappointed with the support against Tring, but I must congratulate our supporters against West Essex. You were fantastic! You were encouraging, supportive and the noise when we scored was noticeable. Your support meant so much to me and all the players. Well done everyone and please keep it coming. We are seeing new faces every week and that is always great to see.

Every game this season will be a tough test for our young side whose average age is still only 23, and have started the season on a high with some impressive results, but no one is getting carried away and I know there will be some highs and lows along the way, If we stick together and give Joe and the boys our backing and your normal fantastic support on the tough days, this season is going to be one to remember. I had the pleasure of watching our newly reformed U18 side coached by Ayub Nabongo last week who had a fantastic FA Youth Cup 5-2 win against a strong March Town Utd FC side.
The Spartan South Midlands Premier League this season is the strongest I have seen it for a long time with most clubs strengthening their squads with some well-known high calibre names dropping down from higher levels.
Finally, the atmosphere created by our supporters at last Sundays win over West Essex was phenomenal! I’m sure if we can create the same today, we can get Joe and the boys over the line. Have a great day. Gary Levy

It will be good to see ex-players Daniel Gould, Dan Trif, and Garry Jones again, all who played an integral part in stabilizing the on-field performances last season along with Joe after an extremely poor start. Joe and Kyle’s pre-season recruitment process went into overdrive during the break signing players that will give the side the quality, strength and performances required to put the club back to where we all expect it to be.

“In the past we have seen a few exCrawley Green players go on to play for Luton, but our partnership has really continued to grow in recent years. It’s with great satisfaction for us that we are currently seeing James Justin starring for the first team. In addition, the recently transferred Tyreeq Bakinson and four of the current U18s team, Josh Neufville, Joe Mead, Ciaren Jones and Michael Shamalo all came through our youth “Asystem.town the size of Luton needs a successful professional club, as well as teams playing in the national league pyramid”. This gives our talented
Crawley Green, who are the only Luton based team to play at step 5 or above of the National League System, had been trying since 2008 to get permission to build a suitable stadium. Unfortunately, in that time they had failed to receive the support needed from Luton Borough Council, despite there being no cost involved for the Council. This decision meant that they have had to ground share with Barton Rovers FC for 11 years, to enable the team to continue to play at that level.
Luton Town installed a brand-new allweather surface down at the training ground and to comply with national ground grading criteria Crawley Green completed the remaining requirements. This will include new changing rooms, dugouts, turnstile, and spectator standing area. Tony Talbot, Chairman of Crawley Green stated: “We would like to thank Gary Sweet and Kevan Platt and everyone at Luton Town FC for firstly affording us this opportunity and then their support in making this happen.
Crawley Green is a suburb of south-east Luton near to London Luton Airport, in the Borough of Luton, Bedfordshire, England. The area is roughly bounded by Crawley Green Road to the north, Devon Road to the south, the Midland Main Line to the west, and Vauxhall Way to the east. The area was historically owned by the Crawley Family, owners of the now demolished Stockwood House and Stockwood Park. Crawley Green was originally a hamlet and farm on Crawley Green Road, near its junction with Hart Lane. The old farmhouse still stands at 124 Crawley Green Road. Nether Crawley Farm was slightly further up the road near what is now Vauxhall Way. Crawley Green Sports & Social Club was formed in November 1989 after arsonists caused the virtual destruction of the present building. Members of Stopsley Harriers, The Wyvern and Ramridge Rangers Sunday Football Clubs amalgamated to form the present club and were successful in securing a 99-year lease from the Council.
This was a poor indictment of the Council’s attitude to football in Luton, considering that other major towns in Bedfordshire have at least one team each playing step 6 or above. Their lack of support in comparison to the likes of Biggleswade (3 teams), Bedford (2 teams), Dunstable (2 teams), Leighton Buzzard (1 team) and Kempston (1 team), meant that even our local leagues have the ignominy of having to travel to local villages to host their cup finals.

youngsters a pathway to development, without having to go outside the borough to develop. “In addition, underneath these clubs is a large community hub, which affords lots of youngsters the opportunity to play football. These community hubs ensure all young people can participate in football in a safe supportive environment, which preserves the dignity and respect of the individual regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, religion, disability, income, and any other social deprivation. With Government statistics showing a concerning rise in childhood obesity throughout the UK, these community hubs encourage our children to stay active and engage in physical activity. This all helps promote health, self-confidence, and importantly social cohesion, and hopefully leads to the wider benefits in raising standards.”
Hatters chief executive Gary Sweet said: “We see ourselves as guardians of elite football in our region and part of that responsibility is to help – wherever possible – other local, aspirational clubs develop and thrive, staying at the core of their roots. “The challenges faced at Crawley Green were difficult and, with the great relationship we’ve had over the years, having recruited numerous young players from their excellent development structure, we’re proud to help Crawley Green retain a local home for their competitive games, just as we are happy to utilise our existing training facility at perhaps the only time when it won’t get used.” The Brache had previously been used by Vauxhall Motors (Luton) until an artificial pitch was installed for hockey in 1991, forcing the club to resign from the Isthmian League; the pitch was later upgraded to 3G astroturf. A wooden stand remains in place from the Vauxhall Motors era. Their badge incorporates all the elements of the three founding clubs but also local history. The club badge was adopted in 1996 after many years of discussion. Maroon was the colour of the largest single club Ramridge Rangers and it was adopted as the club colour. It is incorporated in the Club badge as the bar across the middle. Stopsley Harriers were well known for their red and blue quarters, whilst Wyvern Members were predominantly blue since their foundation. Both these colours are reflected in the badge. Crawley Green FC Saturday side was formed in 1993 after another local team, Somerset Tavern came under the Crawley Green umbrella. The club colour of maroon was adopted by the team.

They joined Division One of the South Midlands League in 1995, and when the league merged with the Spartan League to form the Spartan South Midlands League in 1997, they were placed in Division One North. However, they left the league at the end of the 1997–98 Inseason.1999 the club re-joined the Spartan South Midlands League, and were placed in Division One, which was renamed Division Two in 2001. They won the Division in 2004–05 but were not promoted. In 2007–08 they finished as runners-up and were promoted to Division One. In 2011–12 they won the Division One Cup. They won it again in 2015–16. The season also saw them finish second in the league and earning promotion to the Premier Division. The first season in the Premier Division the club finished mid table, but the following season they escaped relegation by 1 point. The 2018-19 season saw them finish in the top half of the table and hoping to improve on this standing the following season. Sitting in 8th place when the season was abandoned and in 12th place when the 2020-21 season was scraped, they could have hoped for a bright 2021-22.
By November sitting in 20th place with just 2 wins from 16 games Crawley appointed Paul Blackman as their manager. They got their first win under the new regime in the New Year with a 4-2 victory at Baldock Town. A furth 5 wins saw them avoid relegation with a superior goal difference to London Colney, who in turn escaped the drop due to a reprieve.

Faulkner in a tussle with two defenders turned and shot. His aim was true, and the ball bounced into an empty net, only for referee, Peter Kwak, to blow for an infringement. The cheers at the final whistle reflected the closeness of the game and the battling spirit displayed by both sides. This was a great game of football and advert for the non-league game.
However, credit to the Dunstable players who retained their shape and made breaking down that resolute backline like chipping away at concrete. Eventually the door opened mid-way through the second half and Dunstable were punished for failing to clear their lines. 2-1, game on.
With AFC Dunstable playing their Cup match 24 hours earlier, the crowd of 258 was swelled by several groundhoppers and just over 50 children, with the Club’s re-energised Development Centre for 4–6-year-olds providing the day’s It’smascots.veryencouraging to report that one third of the crowd was aged under 18. As a fully fan owned Club, it’s equally encouraging seeing the number of Junior Owners continue to grow in line with the increasing number of adult owners.

As expected, wave upon wave of white shirts pressed forward but Dunstable stood firm and thought they’d put the game to bed deep into stoppage time, when Kyle Faulkner took advantage of West Essex keeper coming up for a corner. Charlie Jones punted the ball up field.
It came with Dunstable on top and having the better of things in midfield. Skipper, Alfie Osborne, again dominant in the middle of the park, but well supported by Harry Beaumont and Benji Crilley. With five minutes before the half-time cup of tea, Dunstable doubled the lead, with an emphatic shot on the turn by Kelvin Osei-Addo. The assist again from WhateverCrilley. was said by the West Essex FC coaching team at half-time, clearly had the desired effect.
Head Coach, Joe Deeney had reflected on his side’s propensity for starting slowly in the last couple of matches. Dunstable were out of the traps from the first whistle and took the game to their opponents. In the first few minutes, Remell Stirling broke dangerously and played the ball square for Tolu Ikuyinminu who was dispossessed at the crucial moment as he was about to take his shot. Charlie Jones took over between the sticks from Connor Coulson and upfront Deeney kept faith in the striking partnership of Remell Stirling & Kelvin Osei-Addo who between them have scored 6 out of the 8 goals the Blues have bagged this term. For Kelvin OseiAddo it’s now seven goals in his last seven matches. The first goal for Dunstable came after 20 minutes and from a Crilley dead ball which 19-year-old Remell Stirling anticipated, timed his run to perfection and very nearly burst the net, such was the power of the shot he unleashed.

Blackstone & Co was a farm implement manufacturer based in Stamford, Lincolnshire. The business was established in 1837 as Smith & Ashby, later known as Rutland Iron Works. In 1877 Edward Christopher Blackstone was admitted to the partnership. A limited company, Blackstone & Co was incorporated in 1889 to take ownership of the business. Examples of Blackstone engines can be seen at the Anson Engine Museum near Manchester. Although the company is no longer in business, the name Blackstone lives on through the football club, still playing in FormedStamford. as the works team of Blackstone & Co in 1891, the club won the Peterborough & District League in 1918-19. After dropping into local football in the respective Stamford and Bourne District Leagues, the club won the former immediately before World War II. Following further spells in the Peterborough & District League, the club joined Division One of the United Counties League in 1984. Promotion to the Premier Division came in 1988. In 2003 victory in the Premier Division Cup was achieved with a 4-0 against Buckingham Town. Relegation to Division One occurred in 2013. A midweek jaunt to Lincolnshire was facilitated by the offer of a lift (much appreciated Phil). The journey via A10 and A1 to Stamford was relatively the pieman

DUNSTABLE TOWN FC MATCHDAY PROGRAMME 45 parked up at Lincoln Road at 18:30 with plenty of time for refreshment ahead of the 19:45 kick off. Conveniently Birdy’s Fish and Chip shop is located immediately opposite the ground and would be our first port of call. The clubhouse bar was also welcoming and although there was no real ale available, a bottle of Proper Job proved a refreshing option on a scorching evening. Lincoln Road is an extremely tidy and smart venue. The folks involved at the club are very proud and this is reflected in the appearance of the entire ground. The club colours are painted on all the buildings and structures providing a corporate identity. Both sides of the ground are hemmed by enormous rows of trees, that sometimes prevent flying footballs from encroaching on domestic Adwellings.decent sized covered seated stand straddles the half way line. Next to this is a covered standing area. In the winter months these structures will provide a welcome retreat from adverse weather. On the opposite side of the pitch are the dugouts which are of the solid traditional variety. Both ends of the ground are open and the entire perimeter is available for spectator Additionalviewing.structures include a toilet block, tea bar and the entry kiosk which backs on to the reasonable sized car park. That said, there is also a bowling green within the complex and the parking facilities are likely to become stretched. All in all, this is a perfect venue for a club playing at this level of football, with space to expand should the need arise. The visitors, in their first season at this level, did not get the rub of the green on a couple of occasions where decisions went against them. However, the result is a true reflection on the balance of play in this game as Blackstones continued their fine start to the season. The Southbound carriageway of the A1 was closed at Stamford meaning a detour through rural Lincolnshire for a while post match. recommended pub The Crooked Billet is right next to the ground and serves great food and good real ales but does get busy on a weekend. If travelling by public transport, a pit stop at The Horn close to St Albans station would be recommended or a short walk to the Robin Hood. Another option is the Three Horseshoes on Hatfield Road where the bus drops you off, which serves London Pride and Doom Bar.

travelling by public tranSport St Albans City is a few stops on from Luton on the train. From there a 15 minute bus journey on the 301 or 302 route with drop you at the Three Horseshoes, about a mile from the ground.
On entering village turn left at Queens Head pub (roundabout). The ground is on your right just before the school after 800 yards. Parking is available for match officials, club officials and players inside the ground.
From the A1 leave at junction 3 and follow the signs for Watford. At long roundabout take the left into village and the ground is past the school on the left after 400 yards. From the M25 leave at Junction 22 and follow signs for Colney Heath.
