FROM THE BOARDROOM Good afternoon and welcome to Creasey Park. We welcome the players, officials and supporters of Didcot Town for this fixture. In the corresponding fixture in November, Didcot came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory. We will be keen to reverse that and Didcot will want to continue to secure their position amongst the play off places.
Just a reminder that after some technical hitches, we have ‘relaunched’ our Just Giving appeal in collaboration with MIND and MIND BLMK. It would be great if you could support this initiative. It works for all three parties and the funds raised will really make a difference. Have a look at the page and give if you can.
As we come towards the business end of the season, it becomes important to secure some much needed points and find the form that we demonstrated back in January. We all know that this team can compete with the best, and as we have seen in this league there have been some unexpected results. Barton Rovers result against Corby Town on Wednesday evening, is another example of this.
We are also close to announcing a partnership with a local business that will benefit the club, the business, and you our supporters. Look out for more on this in the near future.
Notwithstanding an appeal, it looks like we will be without some key players through suspension, and this, coupled with some injuries, and the return of Marcus Gouldborne to Stevenage, gives an opportunity for others to step up and grab the opportunity afforded to them. Players with the right attitude, commitment, and no little skill, will always get an opportunity at Dunstable Town.
Finally let’s really get behind Gareth and the team this afternoon.
We know that Marcus had enjoyed his experience at Creasey Park and we wish him all the best and thank him for all his efforts and for ‘frightening the life’ out of a number of defenders with his pace and skill.
A word on the Development team. Their Cup Final appearance has been set for Wednesday 17th April against Henlow. This fixture will be played at Kempston Rovers ground, kick off at 7.30pm.
Enjoy the m atch Neil

MANAGER’S NOTEBOOK A very warm welcome to Creasy Park this afternoon, especially to the manager coaching staff and players of Didcot town. I hope you have a pleasant afternoon and a safe journey home.
As is our club philosophy, this will allow opportunity for others to step up to the plate and keep the shirt, which I am sure they will give their best endeavours to achieve.
It appears that Didcot have maintained some solid form that sees them sitting six points clear in the play-off zone. We last met in mid November where a hard working Didcot team came from behind to win the game 2-1, with Chris Wreh scoring for us.
Once again, I hope you enjoy the game and cheer the lads on to 3 hard earned points.
It has been a Tough couple of games for us following poor results and even poorer performances, something myself and the squad have been working hard to address and correct. This week sees us saying goodbye to Marcus Gouldbourne, Who has been recalled to Stevenage FC following his loan spell with us since the new year. We thank him for all his hard work and exciting football and wish him well for his future. You will see a changed team this afternoon to that of the past games, as we set up without Gedeon Okito and Saul Williams, who were suspended following their red cards at Aylesbury United last weekend.

REPORTING IN
AYLESBURY UNITED 3-0 DUNSTABLE TOWN A very disappointing afternoon for the Blues against a well organised Aylesbury United team . The Blues ended the game with 9 players after both Saul Williams and Gideon Okito were controversially sent off, Williams for an alleged red card tackle and Okito for his part in the ‘afters’ that ensued. It was telling that several Aylesbury United players were perplexed as to why Okito was sent off and offered to ‘go into writing ‘ in support of the full back. The lack of openness and clarity from the officials after the game also added to the sense of injustice. That said, this was a contest that ‘the Ducks’ deserved to win . They were quicker to the ball, and led by a classic centre forward performance by Aaron Berry, the vast experience of Greg Williams , Max Hercules’ ability to find space , and the calm assurance of skipper Jack Wood, the result never really looked in doubt. Manager Gareth Jackson had changed things about on the back of the defeat at Thame . An unchanged back 5 of goalkeeper Connor Coulson ( this writers man of the match) , Joe Mead, Daniel Trif, John Sonuga , Gedeon Okito, were supported by the two holding midfielders Jonathan Osae and the returning Alex Taylor. On the offensive it was Marcus Goulborne, Saul Williams, Ebhan NancarrowMartin, feeding into Chris Wreh. Callum Mapley opened the scoring after 13 minutes with a header following a set piece, and this was quickly followed in the 19th minute by a short corner which was played to Sonny French on the edge of the box, who took a touch and fired in at the near post.
The Blues were struggling to get into the game with passes going astray , but this was not helped by a nasty tackle on Ebhan Nancarrow - Martin which the referee deemed required no more than a quick word. It’s a tough job and referees are often unfairly maligned, but the lack of consistency on display today was a frustration to both sides. The Blues occasionally threatened, but there was a lack of fluidity not normally associated with the team, and the Ducks always looked the most likely to build on their advantage. The shot stopping of Conor Coulson was much in evidence and his was a man of the match performance. The second half was a lot more even, but on 57 minutes Harry Janes swept the ball in after a cross from the right, and it was game over. The Blues introduced Charlie Black, James Lauder, and Erin Amu in an attempt to get a foothold in the contest, however by then Aylesbury were managing the game well and no clear cut chances were created. It was a shame that a game played in a largely good spirit was marred by the late sending’s off. A situation , that should have been handled differently. However, this should not mask a deserved victory for the Ducks, and a disappointing performance from the Blues.

9 MARCH 2005 - A PAIR OF CLINTS On 9 March 2005, Clint Dempsey made his first start for the United States in a 3-0 win over Colombia. The striker/midfielder had earned his first cap in November 2004, but had yet to crack the starting line-up until the friendly against Colombia, played on his 22nd birthday. He was one of six players making their starting debut, including goalkeeper Jon Busch and defenders Richie Kotschau and Chad Marshall. Those three, along with substitute Nat Borchers, were playing with the national team for the first time. Dempsey was also one of two Clints on the pitch, joining Clint Mathis. The US went up 1-0 with a 25th-minute goal from Dempsey’s New England Revolution teammate, Pat Noonan, with an assist from
another Revolution player, Steve Ralston. Ralston also assisted on the second goal, scored by Marshall in the 33rd minute. Clint Mathis completed the win with a third goal in the 66th minute. While Dempsey did not score that day, he has since gone on to net a total of 57 goals in 141 appearances, making him the team’s all-time top scorer.
