WINNSBORO, is where the pines meet the oaks flled with beautiful lakes and the amazing colors of spring and fall. Winnsboro’s rich and varied history extends from the days of the Caddo Indians to the French settlements and from the wild logging era to the rather calm visits of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow.
The land on which the town is located was frst surveyed by Gray B. King in 1835, and carved from the State of Caohuila and Texas, then a state under the Mexican government. The town sits astride the historic boundary between the Louisiana Territory and Old Mexico and is currently equidistant from Dallas, Shreveport, and Texarkana.
As one of the frst state designated Cultural Arts Districts and a Nationally Accredited Main Street Town, we ofer not only art, music, and literature but unique annual events, award winning restaurants and specialty shops in a welcoming community. So, come enjoy all that Winnsboro has to ofer…and you might even discover it feels like home!

It was built in a nearby machine shop and was briefy airborne late in 1902, a year before the Wright Brothers frst fight.
