know yourself

The mission of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School is to know and inspire each child in an inclusive community dedicated to exceptional teaching, learning and service. To the St. Andrew’s faculty, staff and administration, the mission is at the center of everything we do. And it all starts with knowing our students. From the classroom to the fields, from the easel to the chapel, we understand what lies in the hearts and minds of each of our students. At the core of the St. Andrew’s experience is the passing of that knowledge to our students.

know your strengths

When students leave St. Andrew’s, they walk away with more than just a diploma. They depart with an understanding of who they are as person and a learner. Of what methods work best for them not just in the classroom, but in life. Of how to go from being a B+ student to an A student. When they leave St. Andrew’s, they know their strengths.

know your passions

From academics to arts, from athletics to service learning, St. Andrew’s affords its students the opportunity to find what it is they love and pursue it without limits. From performing arts to molecular biology, the only boundaries at St. Andrew’s are the confines of the imagination. Students at St. Andrew’s know their passions.

know your teachers

Whether it’s a current student or an alum, everyone who comes through St. Andrew’s will tell you that the unique relationships our faculty build with our students are a hallmark of the St. Andrew’s experience. We know we can’t love your children like you do, but that doesn’t stop us from trying. Teachers at St. Andrew’s know their students.

know the world

Whether it’s Washington, D.C., or South Africa, Chicago or Haiti, our students have the opportunity to know the world. Through international programs and service learning, our students learn in a global community even if they choose to never leave Potomac. St. Andrew’s students know the world.

Being a part of the St. Andrew’s community means being a part of something special. Whether it’s a lifelong friendship, a special bond with a teacher, a coach you can turn to for advice, or an administrator who is always in your corner, being a part of St. Andrew’s means being known in your community.

know excellent teaching

At St. Andrew’s, we don’t just expect the best from our students, we expect it from our faculty as well. Whether they are in the classroom providing students with a first-class education, pursuing professional development opportunities during the summer, or training teachers at peer schools on how to teach the St. Andrew’s way, our faculty knows what it takes to be excellent teachers.
