Frank and Joe Hardy were living a perfect life with their family in Bayport, a small, New Engla nd resort-town on the Atlantic — until an unexpected death threw their entire existence into turmoil. Now the Hardy Boys are headed down a much darker path — one that will lead them right into the seedy, crooked heart of their hometown — and with a mysterious figure from their past as a guide... These are the teen detectives as you’ve never seen them before!

NANCY DREW AND THE HARDY BOYS: THE BIG LIE #1 A LETTER FROM WRITER ANTHONY DEL COL “You should try these books. I loved reading them when I was young.”
NEXT ISSUE Nancy Drew has a killer plan. In order to clear their names from accusations of their father’s murder, she and the Hardy Boys will have to infiltrate a family of petty thieves -by beating them at their own (card) games! The classic characters dive deeper into the seedy underbelly of a tourist town -- and they begin to find out if they’re really able to go bad in order to do good.
These pivotal words have passed on stories and characters from one generation to the next for over a century now, whether it’s an orphan with the last name of Twist or, more recently, a wizard named Potter. And it was with these words that I was introduced to three plucky teen detectives and their various adventures years ago by my mother while visiting my grandparents in Saskatchewan, Canada. Why have Nancy, Frank and Joe captivated audiences for so many years now (the Hardys are turning 75 this year)? While for some it’s a portrait of ideal smalltown USA, I think the major reason is a simple one: what child hasn’t wanted to be able to out-smart adults? It’s a quest for independence that’s deep inside every child, to show that they can make it in the larger world. With this series I’m continuing the three teens’ quest to out-smart and defeat evil adults and organizations. But the world today is more complicated, and thus their adventures should be. That’s why I’ve put them in a whole new genre – the hard-boiled noir. And to survive they have to take on whole new personalities – teenager brothers accused of murder and a femme fatale. It all serves a purpose – they are facades or personalities they have to adopt in order to get to the bottom of the most personal crime possible – the death of a parent.
I hope you enjoyed this first issue – it was a blast to write and Werther’s art, Stefano’s coloring, Fay and Emma’s covers, Simon’s lettering and Matt and Keith’s guidance have all added have all added to the feel of this world and story. Stay tuned for more – we’re delving into some really fascinating characters and s cenarios in the new few issues that are even more enjoyable. And hopefully you’ll enjoy it enough that years from now you’ll pass on to the next generation. Finally, I’m happy to hear from you – if you have any questions or comments about this issue, feel free to reach out to me at the info below.
