WILDA BERDIE BEATY
May 12, 2017 Wilda Berdie Beaty, 87, of Richland Center, WI passed away Friday May 12, 2017. “I love all my babies,” in her sweet Tennessee accent were more than just her final words; it was a slogan to a lifelong devotion to her family. Wilda, born on January 16, 1930, was a native of Coker Creek, Monroe County, TN - daughter of Fred C. and Dewey Mae Shaw Peel. As a strong single mother she moved to Chicago in 1960 to work for Motorola and to raise her five rambunctious boys, J. R., Chester, Frank, Jack, and Richard. Following her marriage with Myron Fuller in 1965 they moved to Ithaca, WI where she accepted with an open heart three more children, Tim, Cindy and Debbie. It was then that Wilda cemented her role as the matriarch to a large and
expanding family where there was no limit for her love. In 1973, she moved to Richland Center and worked at O’brien’s for 28 years, where she retired. On November 8, 1980, Wilda married the love of her life William Beaty. Once again, her heart and family expanded to include Bill’s four children, Carolyn, Phyllis, Sharon, and Linda. Where you found one you found the other. Wilda and Bill shared a life of mutual admiration and enjoyment. When not with family they could be found at rummage sales, auctions, restoring furniture, tending to their gardens, country drives, or simply taking pleasure in each other’s company. Wilda lived the good, simple, and happy life. She enjoyed things that took time, attention, and detail: sewing, gardening, quilting, embroidering, and baking. Most of all, she enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She allowed us all to slow things down so life wouldn’t pass us by. Though Wilda spent most of her years in Wisconsin she remained at odds with butter and cheese. Morels should be fried in bacon grease and nothing else. She made the very best apple pie, green beans, upside-down pineapple cake, and fried chicken. Wilda was an avid collector of anything and everything. She seemed to be competing with someone for the most lawn ornaments. She had no need for social media because her walls were filled with every picture, card, letter, drawing, and message of years gone by to present. Her favorite bird, the cardinal watched over her house as they were perched on every shelf, window, and piece of
furniture. Wilda’s love will live on in our hearts supported by the memory of all her hugs and kisses. We know our Ma, Grandmaw, and friend will continue to watch over all her babies. Wilda is survived by her children: J.R. (Kathy) Hamby of Richland Center, Frank Hamby of Richland Center, Jack Hamby of Athens, TN, Richard Hamby of Madison, Debbie (Joe) Mueller of Richland Center, Timothy (Deb) Fuller of Dandridge TN, Phyllis (Dale) Schuldt of Hubertus, Sharon (Dennis) Gehl of Hubertus, Linda (Terry) Jorgensen of Jacksonville FL, Cindy Fuller of Madison; Daughter - in -law Cindy (Tom) Davis of Richland Center; Son-in- law Todd Nielsen of West bend ; sisters: Verda Cantrell of FL, Nettie Yarber of GA; brother Jerry Peel of FL; 30 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 1 great - great - grandson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Wilda was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, son Chester Hamby, daughter Carolyn Nielsen; brothers: Dillard and James Peel; sisters Imogene Walker and Aretta Cantrell. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel with Reverend Craig Peach officiating, with burial to follow in the Richland Center Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Pratt Memorial Chapel from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Again Friday, May 19, 2017 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements. Online condolences can be made at prattfuneralservice.com.

Ms. Johnson grew up and went to school in the Muscoda area and is a graduate of Riverdale High School. She has an Associates degree from UWRichland, a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Upper Iowa University and will hold a Wisconsin Social Work Certification. Tiffany possesses unique qualifications for this position. The Sobriety Court Coordinator manages the cases of everyone in the program. Tiffany worked as a Case Manager for the Operating After Revocation Diversion Program in Baraboo. Some of the participants in Sobriety Court will be on electronic monitoring. While going to school, Tiffany worked as a full-time Jailer/Dispatcher at the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and managed the Electronic Monitoring Program. Being a Jailer also gave her experience with administering drug and alcohol tests and those tests are conducted regularly in Sobriety Court. Her work in the Sheriff’s Department also familiarized her with local law enforcement officers, courthouse personnel and local probation agents. The Sobriety Court team consists of the Judge, District Attorney, Victim Witness Coordinator, as well as representatives from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, Richland Center Police Department, Public Defenders Office, Probation and Parole, and an AODA Counselor. Tiffany will be working with these members and monitoring the participant’s compliance with sobriety. Tiffany will also be supporting them with processes like getting a job, obtaining a high school diploma, and paying their child support and other debts. She has experience in this capacity as well from her job as a Community Supported Living Supervisor for Lutheran Social Services. She will also be monitoring their community service and intends for the program to have an outreaching positive impact on the participants and the community. Tiffany and her fiancé are settled in Richland County and both have strong family roots here. In her spare time, Tiffany enjoys spending time with their family and in the out-of-doors with their four Labradors and two horses. Service to Richland County is especially important to her as her family has been serving the area for generations.

Thank You The family of Norbert Nelson would like to express our sincere thanks to all who lifted us in prayer at the time of our loss of our dearest husband, Dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and greatgreat-grandpa. He was a man who loved his wife and family very dearly. He enjoyed his life as a successful farmer in the Bear Valley Community. He taught us all about good character, integrity and hard work. This was expressed very dearly by the 14 grandchildren who gave special honor to grandpa by seeing that he had a grand ceremonial entrance to the cemetery atop a wagon surrounded by them all and being pulled by his John Deere 530 driven by his sons David and Larry. That will be in all of our memories forever. The outpouring of kind words and caring sympathy from many neighbors, friends and family was simply amazing. God bless you all for being there. A special thank you must go to Josh Clary at the Clary Memorial Funeral Home for his professionalism and his kindness and compassion which showed in everything that he took care of for us. Our special thanks also goes out to Pastor Tammy Clausen of the Willow Valley Church, to Dr. Dickman and Dr. Smith, and to the caring staff at Pine Valley Community Village, i.e. the nurses, CNA’s and housekeepers who truly do what they can to bring some joy and brightness to each day of the people they care for. Our sincere thanks and gratitude to all. Betty Nelson Tom & Nancy Clary Art & Margie Simpson David & Rita Nelson Larry & Sherry Nelson Burf & Barb Mayfield
