HIGH DESERT HAVEN
Talking Rock Ranch does rustic indulgence right with its new discovery experience
BY ALISON BAILIN BATZ
Nestled between Prescott and Coconino National Forest rests Talking Rock Ranch, a private golf community dually inspired by the ruggedly beautiful high desert landscape and the luxuries of a well-appointed resort. Up until recently, only home owners were able to enjoy the wide open spaces, expansive views and amenities the exclusive enclave has to offer. Starting this month, however, visitors are now invited to sample them through the Talking Rock Discovery Experience. “In May, we completed our club cabin,” says Bianca Haggenmuller, vice president of marketing and communications at Talking Rock Ranch. “This fully furnished escape from the ordinary is both to allow our residents additional space to host their visiting friends and family as well as to welcome guests unfamiliar with Talking Rock to immerse themselves in our community.” The cabin has four bedrooms, 4 1/2 bathrooms, a full kitchen, a working fireplace, dining and living areas, and multiple outdoor spaces. Depending on the size of the party, the entire cabin may be made available or partitioned off into one- and two-bedroom options as well. Once booked, groups are connected to a Talking Rock concierge who will curate a custom three-day, two-night experience on property as well as optional activities off property, including fly-fishing, wine tasting and off-road adventures. The concierge also offers grocery services and handles all tee times, wellness and spa appointments, and dinner reservations for the group. “Upon arriving, we offer a full tour of the property observing all CDCrecommended safety protocols or virtual tours if preferred,” Haggenmuller says. The tour – whether in person or virtual – aims to give guests a lay of the land, including the opportunity to check out the pool, tennis and pickleball courts; scout for the best hiking and biking trails; and preview the Jay Morrish-designed championship golf course as well as the putting and chipping courses. It also introduces guests to Coop’s, Ranch House and Morgan’s Bar & Grill, which are Talking Rock’s casually elegant eateries offering breakfast and lunch as well as fine wine pairing dinners, mixology classes and even whiskey tastings. There’s also Talking Rock Barn, which is home to the sprawling fitness center and spa. It boasts yoga, spin and tai chi classes plus Pilates and barre programs and personal training as well as a full menu of wellness treatments. The package starts at $1,100 (based on a two-person stay) and includes two nights’ accommodations as well as access to all public areas, including the Barn, hiking and biking trails, sport courts, pools and lounges; one complimentary fine dining experience at either the Ranch House or in one’s cottage; one spa treatment per guest; daily breakfast at Coop’s; and a round of golf.
