SOUNDS OF SUMMER

Move to the music at Royal Palms Resort and Spa with its new live music series. Resort guests and locals alike are invited to enjoy lively entertainment on the Vernadero Lawn both July 30 and August 27. The July date showcases a blues, brews and barbecue theme with live music by Sugar Thieves from 7:30 to 10 p.m. The August concert features a jazz under the stars theme with live music by House of Stairs from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 and sold at the door on the night of each event, with doors opening at 6:30 and 6 p.m., respectively. BEAT THE HEAT

Beat the heat at Scottsdale Quarter every Friday morning at 10 a.m. Families are invited to cool down in the pop-jet splash fountain through Aug. 20, with each free weekly event featuring a new theme. Guests can enjoy music from a DJ, cool off with snow cones from Tropical Sno, and play with water toys in the fountain. The first 100 children each week will also receive Scottsdale Quarter sunglasses and themed toys to take home. FOODIE FEAST

Expect the unexpected with Hotel Valley Ho’s new Chef + Co. Series, which will launch this month. Zuzu’s own chef Russell LaCasce will be joined by one of his favorite local chefs at each of these intimate pop-up dinners. Diners will kick off each event with passed bites and mingling with the chefs, followed by an inventive menu of appetizers and a main course that will remain a surprise until guests arrive that evening. The meal will be closed out with dessert bites and conversation with Zuzu’s pastry chef, Deavynne Millward, and the guest chef. East course comes paired with wine or a cocktail and guests will leave with a pastry. Seatings are limited to 16 guests and the first event (July 15: 5:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.) will feature chef Samantha Sanz of Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa. NEW DIGS

The Herb Box recently returned to its roots, opening a location down the street from the brand’s original restaurant. Located on Shea Boulevard, the new 6,600-squarefoot location (which replaces the DC Ranch location), features a large kitchen, an expansive patio, a gourmet marketplace, ample indoor and outdoor seating, and two private event spaces. It is also home to The Herb Box’s corporate office and houses the company’s event planning and catering business. Diners can expect a casual service concept in a Southern setting, complete with the restaurant’s signature dishes, grab-and-go hot and cold items, handmade pastries, bottles of wine, and seasonal products from local purveyors. www.theherbbox.com.

POOL DAYS

Savor the summer at Canopy by Hilton Scottsdale Old Town. The newer hotel will be offering some fun in the sun on its rooftop pool this season. Visitors and locals alike are invited to enjoy day passes ($40), cabana rentals ($300), and a Brews on the Roof series. The day passes, available Sunday through Thursday, allow access to the pool, hot tub and fitness center. Cabana rentals include day passes for up to six people; six craft beers, cans of house wine or tequila seltzers; and complimentary snacks and water.
