On Oct. 19, Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West will unveil Light & Legacy: The Art and Techniques of Edward S. Curtis. The largest exhibit in the history of the museum, the show will run through spring of 2023. Light & Legacy will celebrate the life and works of Edward Curtis, showcasing his images, audio and motion pictures taken over the course of three decades starting in the 1890s. Curtis’ work includes thousands of photographs of Native Americans all across the American West, resulting in The North American Indian, an illustrated publication of photographs in 20 volumes. The exhibit will mark the largest amount of Curtis’ work on view, including The North American Indian as well as musical recordings by Curtis and his field team. Exhibit included with museum general admission, $20. www.scottsdalemuseumwest.org.
