Welcome to the La Soufriere Leeward Trail
The rehabilitation of this trail was funded by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) Small Grants Project (SGP), implemented by the Richmond Vale Academy in September 2016 and supported by the National Parks, Rivers & Beaches Authority, North Leeward Community and the Forestry Department. The trail to the summit is 5 miles (8.0 Km) long and continues across the rim of the volcano to the windward side. It was a trading route used by our fore-parents who carried fish on their heads from the leeward to the windward side and traded with the merchants there.
Interpretative signs are strategically placed, highlighting biodiversity and natural resource conservation of the area. Please stay on the trail and be responsible with your litter.
