Plans for post-pandemic life

With Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s daily news briefings turning toward a plan to “reopen” New York, East Meadow business owners and customers alike are wondering how their favorite establishments will bounce back, and what to expect of their postcoronavirus social lives. “What’s the new norm, and what does America 2.0 look like

in terms of dining — that’s what we’re trying to figure out,” said David Boller, owner of Garden Social Beer Garden and Kitchen in East Meadow. “It’s not about who make the best burger anymore. It’s about who makes the customer feel most comfortable.” To answer such questions, Boller launched an online survey on his restaurant’s Facebook page last Sunday. Respondents are encouraged to answer a series of questions about their

fears, hopes and expectations when it comes to post-pandemic dining. The survey is broad in scope, and Boller said he hoped many restaurants would share it, and work together to determine the best course of action in May. Some 600 surveys had been completed as the Herald went to press. The East Meadow Chamber Continued on page 2
