INSTITUTIONAL STUDIO Case studies of existing Institutional Buildings like Community Science Center were observed and analyzed. Conclusions were drawn regarding its space planning, functions and quality of space.
SEMESTER - VI
The program was an Astronomy Learning Center for children in an existing library building. It consisted of a central Exhibition Space, Administration Block, Workshop and Classrooms, Lecture hall, and an Indoor and Outdoor Cafe. Surrounding buildings, courtyard and backyard were also integrated in the program.

INSTITUTIONAL STUDIO A sectional model helped visualize the space. The final sections were rendered with real-like material. Extensive use of Showcasing elements for the exhibition, details of Exhibition Panels, Interior wall finishes were done in detail. Since the building was only exposed brick and concrete, it was challenging to find cohesive materials and finishes. Thus a concept of Contrast between old and new was developed that differentiated the interior decisions from the strong architecture of the space.

RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL STUDIO.
A residential plot was given as a plot which was in the vicinity of a commercial area of the city. A cube of 12m X 12m X 12m was given. The program was to design a fish and bird shop along with the residence of the owner. The built form as well as the interiors made use of only two materials; wood and concrete, thus giving way to material exposure and techniques. Emphasis was laid on developing a language of the space.

Final drawings in 1:20 scale. Plans and Sections with realistic rendering showing the language of the interior as well as character of the space through the detailed exhibits like aquarium and aviaries. Emphasis was given to the residential project with designing the furniture, fabrics and overall feel of the space.

INTERIOR CONSTRUCTION DRAWING- II Interior Construction Drawings were made of the Residential project which included Civil drawing, Furniture Layout, Flooring Layout, Electrical Layout and Details of Fenestration. Scales of 1:50, 1:10 and 1:1 were used to develop the drawings.

INTERIOR CONSTRUCTION DRAWING- I
An under-construction site was given with a kitchen, with the intent of designing a ‘dream’ kitchen, working drawings were developed in the form of plans, sections and wall sections. Material experiments, lighting details and functional aspects of kitchen were dealt.

SPACE PLANNING -II An existing site, first two floors of an institutional building, was given to develop a program based on a social issue. The social issue asked for a program that dealt with functions, the people involved, kind of issues addressed and ultimately how the social issue could be resolved in the current scenario. A social design organization(S.D.O.) was designed to programetically address the social issue.
Area calculation exercise for spaces like reception, head office, design studio, canteen, etc.
Area zoning in which the design studio was made the core space and the other functions placed according to the proximity.
SEMESTER - IV
An abstract collage of the organization where in the administrative block was the centre as a jigsaw with the other office blocks fitting into each other and as a whole was seen as a concept of network and as an interlinked channel.
The given space was looked as an outer skin and the inner whole. The concept was an indirect reflection of the social issue addressed. Identifying the space according to the functions and site conditions was learnt through this exercise.

SPACE PLANING -II The final design model and final rendered plan and section. Size ( 750mm x 300mm x 250mm) Emphasis was given to the graphical quality of the space that was resultant of the design stand points taken. The social issue influenced the geometry of the space. The existing beams were seen as elements and incorporating the false ceiling were designed in a way that they would stand out.

BASIC DESIGN - II The space was an outcome of an experiment with magnets and iron fillings. The character of space evolved from the qualities of the iron fillings attracted to the magnets. The final space was designed in a given volume taking into consideration different corners of the space. The project was at an abstract level in terms of the functionality. Focus was given to the level of explorations.

BASIC DESIGN - I The final exercise involved a kit (fixed number of points, lines, planes) that were to be used to design a shelter on a hypothetical site. The space evolved out of geometric decisions and explorations were done in terms of variety of spaces, quality of light and response to the site and the natural conditions.

Understanding the basic forms of design(point, line, plane) through a harmonious space making objective. The spaces were seen in terms of negative and positive and the negative was identified and built into a form of its own.
Exploration were done in the lines of principles of geometry using planes and lines, developing into a language.

POSTER JOURNEY During the 6 weeks of internship at an architecture firm (M/S Prabhakar Bhagwat, Ahmedabad), as a part of a monthly publishing, a task was given to design an office poster. It talked about an Interior Design students’ interpretation of design processes for architectural and landscape design projects. An intensive study was done on major projects done by the firm which included farmhouse landscapes, Institutes, Public Parks and Office Buildings. Brief Explanation of the Poster
Guided by the mannerism and character of a poster, my perspective of interpreting design process is a small part of a much larger weave. The fabric of the projects is built on the structure of the warp and weft where every project is a warp that is constantly trying to maintain its path. Some are assertive, some are deviating and a few are broken. The wefts encompass ideas, impulses and impressions and loop around each warp, binding them and giving them a meaning. The concepts, the tools and the skill entwine comprehensively into the weave but the warps hang by the weft of assessment that measures its strength and tenacity. During this journey, the weavers are persistently pulling and tying every strand, falling and flying in the process but eventually giving it an identity

GRAPHIC DESIGN-I A narrative craft of Rajasthan, ‘Phad’ was taken as a Graphic design exercise, wherein a complete analysis of the craft, replication, tools techniques were explored followed by a typeface and a symbolic representation.

GRAPHIC DESIGN-II A flower, ‘Heliconia Wagneriana’ was taken as a Graphic Design object wherein the flower was thoroughly understood in terms of geometry, growth pattern and an installation was designed inspired from the flower.

COMPUTER GENERATED EXERCISES. 3-D forms were developed in autocad 3D and material rendering was done A designed portable projector stool was designed and rendered in autocad 3D.

Rhino and Grasshopper softwares were explored to make forms and given them realistic renderings.
Rietveld’s chair made in Autocad-3D was given a backdrop using its own language and deriving a form in Autocad-3D.

RELATED STUDY PROGRAM. Trip to Rajasthan. On this study trip, we studied the confluence of Jain and mughal architecture. We analyzed the architecture of mosques, temples, forts and palaces, via extensive measure-drawing, sketching, and photography.

SUMMER WORKSHOP. As a part of the course, a four week long self initiated and intensive workshop of Space Making Crafts was done in Auroville, Pondicherry. The idea was to learn the local crafts from the craftsmen, thereby learning about their culture and lifestyle, thus valuing the community as a whole. A workshop where hammocks were made was chosen and the technique of hammock making was translated as a space making craft through a vertical screen.
