» Our faculty are accomplished scholars and respected leaders in their fields. They actively engage with students in and outside of the classroom to best prepare them for the next phase of their journey.
Experiential learning is endless at Rider.
While activities vary by college and program, we offer multiple opportunities for students to connect coursework to real work through optional, built-in experiences:
» Students in Rider's performing arts programs have endless opportunities to put what they’ve learned into practice, both on stage and behind the scenes, in one of the hundreds of annual performances hosted by the College of Arts and Sciences.
» Rider's entirely student-run organizations, including the Saxbys cafe and Rider’s 107.7 The Bronc radio station, help students to foster entrepreneurship and leadership skills while gaining practical experience.
» Our Semester In Los Angeles program places students in the heart of Hollywood to live, study and work in film and television for 14-weeks.
» Education majors begin mediated field experiences in their sophomore year, guided by their professors and cooperating in-school teachers. They also spend an entire semester in the classroom, completing 600 hours as an independent, full-time student teacher.
» Students studying in sciences and health/wellness programs benefit from internship opportunities offered through our program with Capital Health and fellow partnering health care professionals, and participation in independent research study or collaborative research projects alongside faculty.
» Our study abroad program offers students an unparalleled opportunity to expand their worldview through a study, internship or volunteer experience abroad. Participating students can receive credit towards their Engaged Learning Program requirements.
» All first-year business students take part in the Business in Action program , a semester-long course in which they develop and are given funds to start a small business.

Career readiness
» The Engaged Learning Program is the backbone of a Rider education. Through the program’s six categories, students combine their academics, career goals and activities to reflect their personality and interests, and connect classroom lessons to the real world. All students are required to participate in at least two Engaged Learning experiences to graduate. The six categories include: leadership, global and cultural, collaboration, service, creative arts and hands-on learning.
» Rider’s Office of Career Development and Success offers personalized services to help prepare students for careers of their choice. Students are assigned a dedicated career coach based on their academic program who will work individually with them to find opportunities, such as internships and co-ops, fieldwork or research experiences, that align with their interests and career goals.
» Rider’s Cranberry Investment is our guarantee that graduates who fulfill their requirements will obtain a job or acceptance into graduate or professional school within six months of graduation — or we’ll provide career coaching and may recommend either additional coursework at no cost or a paid six-month internship.
