Artist Statement
My mission is to help restore a child-like state of “awe and wonder” in the world, and to help people recover and rediscover the innocence that resides in connection with their authentic self. My relationship with life as a photographer, as well as a psychotherapist, is through the lens of the “Mystical,” revealing the inner dimensions of everything. Through creativity and spiritual teachings, it is my goal to safely show people how to see the truth that lies within anything. With all that is going on in the world, art is a source of light. We can share our light and expand our gifts through our work. Using intuition, imagination, and expert mastery of the camera allows me to source my craft without limitation. I think it is integral for an artist to operate from a place of truth. The artist then has a responsibility to bring truth out into the world, even if it makes us feel vulnerable. Vulnerability is often seen as weakness; however, the fact is our vulnerability is at the core of our truest experience. Once we live from that place, it is our duty to reveal truth through our artistic vision.
“I love when I can see the idea and then surrender to my instinct, technique and skill so that I can create an inspired visual story.” WC

Biography
Will Cook, from Mt. Kisco, New York, has had a lifelong passion for visual storytelling and has found his niche in the area of fine art photography. Will is most well known for his work in long exposure and light painting. By studying the way the camera interprets light, he captures a painterly aesthetic that can be observed in his images. His unique style has led him to an extensive collector clientele and notable commissions that include Images & Impressions Magazine, Nick Bonino of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Town of Cortland, NY. His extensive portfolio of commercial clients includes Architectural Digest, Hook Magazine, Record Review and BBC of Brazil just to name a few. Whether Will is shooting a nightscape or using long exposure camera effects to create misty scenes or a serene sky, his technique transforms the image into a work of art. Will’s fine art photography is a welcome addition to any art collection, business, or commercial property. A graduate of Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service, Will is a trained psychotherapist and currently a resident artist at RPAC Gallery located in Ridgefield, CT.

Light Painting
Heavy Metal Limited edition print: 60" wide x 40" high Metal Print Custom Prints Available As a frustrated painter, light painting is the closest thing to having “a brush in my hand.” The “brushes” I use while light painting are in the form of light painting flutes, flashlights, EL wire, light tubes, steel wool spins, fiber optics, and a multitude of other light sources. These tools allow me to accent an already existing subject, or literally “paint” a subject into existence. Once the camera shutter opens, the magic of long exposure photography, coupled with the strategic use of my tools, allows for the light painting “canvas” to take shape. The challenge is to match up the real-time image, with the idea in my “mind’s eye.” I do not know what the results will look like until I glance at the LCD screen on the back of the camera. I love the mystery and the creative control involved in this. The possibilities are unlimited!
“Will Cook and his use of the long exposure technique along with the light painting elevate his work to that one-of-a-kind piece you just have to have.” - Dee Dee Colabella Owner of RPAC Gallery
