GBR Metals - The Company With over 32 years of experience in the trade, we understand steel and we believe in service. On the basis of this experience, GBR Metals Private Ltd was established in 2005 to manufacture reinforcing steel bars. The objective of GBR Metals has been to provide a quality product and complement it with high quality service. Our quality product, GBR TMT, stems from our melting and rolling facility which is run by an experienced work force and our quality service stems from our belief that growth depends upon the relationships that we forge with our customers. It has been this symbiosis with our customers which has stood us in a good stead thus far and we intend to progress further.

GBR TMT GBR TMT are Themo Mechanically Treated re-bars manufactured using the EVCON-TURBO process which is a method for quenching and self-tempering of steel bars at the end of the rolling process. GBR TMT re-bars are ‘hot rolled’ from steel billets/ingots and subjected to PLC controlled on line thmo-mechanical treatment in three successive stages: Quenching - The hot rolled bar leaving the final mill standis rapidly quenched by a special water spray system. This hardens the surface of the bar to a depth optimized for each section through formation of martensitic rim while the core remains hot and austenitic. Self Tempering - When the bar leaves the quenching box, the core remains hot compared to the surface allowing heat to flow to the surface, tempering the outer martensitic layer into a structure called Tempered Martensite. The core still remains austenitic at this stage. Atmospheric Cooling - This takes place on the cooling bed where austenitic core transformed into ductile ferrite pearlite structure. Thus the final structure consists of an optimum combination of strong outer layer (tempered martensite) with ductile core (ferrite peralite).

Special features of GBR TMT bars Strict adherence to the norms prescribed by the Bureau of Indian Standards as per IS1786 : 2008. Higher tensile strength and better elongation valures as compared to traditional CTD bars. Excellent Weld-ability as carbon is restricted to below 0.25%, ensuring no loss of strength at weld-joints. Fire resistance: Can withstand temperature upto 500o C without any loss of strength. Excellent ductility and higher Fatigue strength, making it more suitable for structures and foundations subject to dynamic and seismic loading. Easy to work with at the sites due to better bendability. Better corrosion resistance

Quality Control GBR TMT is certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards for combining with the norms as per IS 1786 : 2008 [CM/L - 6943589]. To ensure quality, we manufacture Ingots for the purpose of rolling which have also been certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards as per IS 2830 : 1992 [CM/L - 6943488]. Each division has its own seperate testing facilities to ensure autonomy in the control procedures.

Controls in the Melting Process Raw Materials : Chemical compositions of Ingots and Concast Billets are analysed before being unloaded. Batch-wise Charges : Billets and Ingots are charged into the re-heating furnace according to analysed batches. Re-heating : The process of Re-Heating and Rolling is controlled in such a way that the temperature of the bar at the last pass is a constant at around 950o C Roll Turning and Groove Cutting : The dimensions, shapes and angles of the ribs and lugs are strictly controlled to ensure uniformity. Hot Bead Inspection : Samples are drawn every 30 minutes and checked for lugs, ribs finish and section weight. Finish Testing : Samples are drawn and tested to ensure that they conform to the norms prescribed by the Bureau of Indian Standards.

Why choose GBR TMT? Ready stock availability for sizes 8,10,12,16,20 and 25mm thickness Grades FE500 and FE550 available on order On-Time delivery Test Certificates with each consignment Length of bars maintained at 40 feet.
