Making a Will Leaving a gift in your will can be a practical and affordable way of giving. There are a number of different types of legacy, and we would always recommend that you seek your solicitor’s advice in drawing up a will. If you have already drafted your will, you can use a Codicil, or will amendment, to add to its original provisions.

Your Legacy – The Church’s Future

A will amendment request form, which you can use to instruct your solicitor to draw up a Codicil, can be found on Ridley’s website at: www.ridley.cam.ac.uk/giving-to-ridley/leaving-a-legacy

“Why I left money to Ridley in my will’ The Lord has provided for us through Ridley and, since my husband died, has wonderfully provided for me. All that I have, including money, is a loan from him.

Letting Us Know

When I die and go to be with the Lord Jesus, I shall have no more need for the loan and so it goes back to him, to be used in his service.

Ridley Hall values your right to privacy, and we understand that you may not wish to make your intentions known. However, if you would like to let us know that you have included Ridley in your will, a Legacy Advisory form can be found on our website at:

A decision to leave a legacy to Ridley Hall is a commitment to help secure the future of Anglican evangelical training in Cambridge. The Moule Society is Ridley’s way of recognising and thanking those who have chosen to mark their commitment to the College by leaving a gift in their Will.

A Tradition of Philanthropy From its earliest days Ridley has benefited from a long tradition of individual giving and generosity. The College was literally built on philanthropy: the lecture hall, tower and entrance archway, dining room block and chapel were all the gifts of individual benefactors. Ridley is deeply grateful to all who have given gifts, large or small, that have allowed the College to flourish and develop over the last 130 years.

The Society Membership of the Moule Society is open to all those who have indicated to us that they have made a bequest to Ridley. As a member of the Society, you will be kept informed of developments in the College’s life, and invited back regularly so that we can thank you in person for your commitment.

The society commemorates C.F.D. “Charlie” Moule, great-nephew of the College’s first Principal Handley Moule, and Lady Margaret Professor of Divinity at Cambridge. Charlie Moule spent time after retirement living at the College, and left Ridley a generous bequest on his death in 2007.

The wishes of our donors are of the utmost importance to Ridley, especially in the case of bequests. The Head of Development would be happy to talk to you, in confidence, about whether there are any particular areas of the College’s work that you would like your gift used for and also how the College can acknowledge your generosity.

If Ridley has depended on its benefactors in the past, the needs of the present are just as great: it is more expensive than ever to provide firstclass residential training for ordination. We realise that the future is uncertain, that your family’s future is a first priority, and that you may well have many other calls on your loyalties and sympathies. Nevertheless, we hope that if your time at Plaque commemorating Mrs Henry Gamble’s Ridley influenced your life, you gift of £3,000 for the dining hall block, given may like to consider that your in 1881 in memory of her first husband, Mr Arthur Saltmarshe experience was made possible by the generosity of previous generations. We invite you to join this tradition of giving, to help build a better future for Ridley Hall on the foundations established by past generations.
