The idea for Super-Charlie came to Camilla Läckberg as she was expecting her third child and her two older children were three and seven years old. When the siblings-to-be asked about what was in mommy’s tummy, the storyteller in Camilla awoke and the character Super-Charlie began to take shape. It became a way for her to “sell” this new addition to the family to her kids. So Camilla seized the opportunity and told them that the baby in her belly was no ordinary child, in fact it was a super-baby.
As soon as Charlie was born Camilla started telling tales of finding traces of nightly flights in Charlie’s room, bird feathers in bed and much, much more. Finally it hit her that she had the beginnings of a children’s book series!
Super-Charlie is very dear to Camilla’s heart. A lot of the settings and characters in the books are from her own personal life. Camilla takes her normal, everyday situations and makes them super. The small details are what’s important in the books as they are meant to be read over and over and also bring joy to the adults reading them. The vigilant reader will for instance notice a framed portrait of the author Jan Guillou in “Super-Charlie and The Plushie Thief”.

Charitable work
Camilla Läckberg has donated money to The Swedish Child Cancer Fund through the Super-Charlie books. Ten percent of Camilla’s revenues from each book sold about Super-Charlie go to the Swedish Child Cancer Fund.
10% of the revenues from the sales of “Super-Charlie and the Ghost Trap” goes to Project Playground. Project Playground is a Swedish charitable foundation, founded in 2010. The foundation works to help vulnerable children and young people in the shantytowns around Cape Town, South Africa and in the suburbs of Stockholm.

Premiering December 25 in Sweden
Director Jon Holmberg, Producer Gustav Olén
The first animated movie about Super-Charlie will premiere in Sweden on December 25th 2024, and is directed by Jon Holmberg, distributed by Nordisk Film, with a target group between 5-12 years old. The movie will be translated into Norwegian, Danish, Finnish and English, with premieres in spring 2025.
Wille (10) has always dreamed of beoming a superhero and fighting crime alongside his father, who is a policeman. However, his dream is shattered when his baby brother Charlie is born. Not only does Charlie get all the attention, but Wille also discovers that Charlie has superpowers.
When a supervillain and a deranged scientist enact their evil plan, Wille and Charlie need to put their differences aside and work as a team. But can an infant and his envious brother save the city?
