It’s our preview issue!
RightyRightyRight started as a project between three friends with completely different characters, styles, and aesthetics, who came together in hope of creating something that would appeal to an audience who appreciates multiple genres of art and design. We are particularly interested in bringing a unique point of view to the table, with features on emerging talent, avant garde ideas and people with dreams to change the world. RightyRightyRight is an international magazine focusing on the arts – fashion, culture, architecture, and anything exciting in the design field. RightyRightyRight is created by a designing + styling + photography unit from Japan and Singapore, living it large in New York City and Tokyo.

Ryosuke Suzuki, born in Tochigi Prefecture in 1983, started taking art classes as a child, and excelled in art through high school. He moved to Tokyo and completed his education at Yamano Beauty College, but left his job as a hair stylist to pursue his dreams of living abroad. Upon entering the menswear cult brand, Roen, he was assigned to the planning and sales division, and attended many a tradeshow in Milan, Paris and London. After getting to know of several Japanese who were living their lives overseas, he sought to do the same, and moved to New York – the land of dreams. Starting off as a photographer’s assistant and dabbling in art, he most recently established RightyRightyRight.com.
Tomonori Iwata, born in 1982 in Chiba Prefecture, spent some years working as a window display designer in Tokyo whilst pursuing his dreams of becoming a fashion designer. In 2005, he made his way to New York. Attracted to the possibilities of plants as a material, he found himself working as an Ikebana (the Japanese art of flower arrangement) artist. Meanwhile, he also discovered the joys of photography, and began working as a photographer’s assistant. At present, with extensive experience in different genres of art under his belt, he has come to understand “Fashion” in his own unique terms. Tomo now seeks to express himself by breathing life to clothing and bringing them alive through his camera lenses in his own distinctive way.
Gilda Su, born in Singapore in 1983, spent her childhood reading story books by Enid Blyton, building Lego castles and dressing Barbies. She attended Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo, where she became obsessed with manipulating patterns as a way to express her love and respect of the avant-garde. After graduating with an Associates’ Degree specializing in Dress-making, she continued her studies at Parsons the New School of Design in New York City. There, she interned and later freelanced for Patricia Field. While still in school, Gilda started her own label, Rêvasseur (which means ‘daydreamer’ in French), and her thesis collection has garnered international press. She is looking forward to immersing herself completely in this imaginary world that she has built, and throwing herself into doing what she loves.

01Hee.Lim
Hee Lim is a young designer fresh out of Parsons, who definitely had the most original designs of his graduating class. We cannot be more obsessed with his innovative, avant garde and very wearable debut collection, in a soothing palette of muted colours. His unisex looks are created with layers upon layers of mesh and soft jerseys, topped of with statement-making outerwear. We are certain that Hee will go far, and cannot wait to see what he does next. COVET! (Gilda has already placed an order!)

03Lime Crime
Lime Crime began with one girl’s dream to make the world a brighter place. Unicorn Queen, Doe Deere, a New York makeup artist and blogger, couldn’t find makeup that was bright enough. So she created Lime Crime, a line of cruelty-free, dare-to-wear out-of-thisworld vivid colours that are “so bright, it’s illegal”! With regular updates on her blogazine, beautiful pictures, and makeup tutorials that guide you through creating both simple and quirky looks, one can’t help but throw oneself into Doe Deere’s world of colour, and hope that some of the magic and glitter gets passed on. http://www.limecrimemakeup.com | info@limecrimemakeup.com

02 rag & bone
In our opinion, rag & bone is a line that defines many a New Yorker’s lifestyle. The rag & bone look is one that is casual and yet chic, a mix of classics with a hint of grunge/rock inspirations. It is dressed down, and yet dressed up, and completely effortless. And for some reason, we just like being in their stores. It feels... nostalgic. It also helps that they have some of the nicest staff. Hello, Yukari! http://www.rag-bone.com | 212-727-2990 | 104 Christopher Street

Fashion Fights Cancer
The annual Fashion Fights Cancer event brings the fashion community together to raise awareness about this disease that affects us all, directly and indirectly. While the crowd certainly turned up looking rather cute and spiffy, there was no doubt that everyone was there to lend their support. Models paraded around in designs by the likes of Thuy Diep, Tadashi Shoji, Lotusgrace, Kahri by Kahrianne Kerr, Byron Lars, Karen Millen, American Apothecary and Lotis Clothing. Proceeds from the sample sale as well as tickets went towards the “I’m Too Young for This!” cancer foundation, as well as The Cancer Research Institute. We left the event with a reminder about the importance of giving back, and the significance of appreciating what we have as well as our loved ones.
