The house takes the concept of the movie theatre and materializes it, creating different feelings to the users. The project breaks17 the barrier 16 between the inner space and the suroundings, searching for the best views of the landscape through use of the patios and decks.

Convention Centre Food Core Main Square Parking Entry Control Bus Stop Car-pool Ports

12 university main entry

This project is the result of a lengthy study and research to solve the problems of the university. These days the main entry is shared by cars, bicycles and pedestrians. Just leaving a 3 metre wide sidewalk for the pedestrians and bikers. This layout causes several points of conict between the three types of users. The proposal offers a new entry for the pedestrians and bicycles giving them a special access for each one. Keeping the pedestrians and the cars apart was the main objective. The new space includes an exhibition area through the pedestrian path, independent cycle road, recreational and lecture spots, car-pool ports and a new bus stop. Everything converges in the main square between the convention centre and the food court.

14 new urbanism

urbanism project development of a new business district in an unconstructed area of the city of Guadalajara, Mexico. 350 000 sqm

ofďŹ ces and stores

hotels

housing

16

new urbanisim

The project creats a connection between two important districts and also between two biggest avenues of the city. The ďŹ rst one (North West) is an area that contains several important hotels and stores. And the second one (South East) is a business district where the biggest exposition center in Latin America and the World Trade Center of the city are located. These two districts together bring almost two million visitors a year and generate an important percentage of incomes to the economy of the city. The proposal offers a green corridor with a linear plaza that connects the two main avenues.

18 The new green corridor creates a great opportunity to develop tall buildings with a high density without affecting the visual impact of the area. Along the main avenues, the areas will be used for ofďŹ ce and hotel buildings and for commercial use at street level. Behind the dense buildings, as in a second layer, will be the housing zones. Here, the building will have a lower density, and will offer several plazas and green areas for recreation. The lower height of these buildings lets the skyline of the new intervention blend with the existing buildings.

22 community centre

The location of the project is in the middle of one of the most problematic slums in the city of Guadalajara, Mexico. Vandalism and fighting between the local gangs are the greatest problems of the neighborhood. The project offers a new space for the ONG, AXIOS - Mision Mujer, that helps kids and youth with home issues, drug addiction and vandalism. The organisation also gives tools to parents to help their kids, with parental workshops, psychology asistance, etc. The master plan offers four main spaces for the development of the kids. This spaces are also a different units in the building. The first is an administration office for the ONG. The second contains the class room facilities. The third is a conference room for 500 people. And the fourth is the space for workshops. Also the surroundings of the complex offer an space for the co-existence of the community. The building creates a landmark and reference point in the city that gives a special identity to the neighbourhood.

The project was developed to satisfy the needs of the building ,and covers all the standards of security for this type of construction. The signage from the ďŹ rst oor to the sixth mimics the aesthetics of the building. It uses muted colours and the form is as pure and simple as possible. For the basement and car parks, it uses bright and contrasting colours to break the monotony of the concrete and create a unique atmosphere on each level of parking.
