The concept of the design was to catch sunlight in each corner of the house. There are jalis of different patterns for providing a dramatic view of sunlight. The house had to be to designed for a family of 6 people. Thus it has: 1. 1 Master bedroom 2. 1 grandparents room 3. 1 kids room 4. 1 guest room

The house has a water body in front and backyard, it has continuous garden from the atrium of the house till the entrance and it also has a open dining area(alfresco) so that the backyard is not left as dead portion of the house. There is a personal library and study area on the terrace with a kousa hardwood tree in the centre to recreate the feel of reading book under a tree. There are spiral staircase provided in the house which has a complete semi circular glass façade around it to catch light. Thus the house makes the house open to the world yet privacy is maintained.

As a projection of a geometrically perfect circle, the library is a courtyard building that combines a pure geometrical layout with a sensitive adaptation to the landscape creating a spherical ring around the library’s focal point”The Tree”. The 2 main entrances are situated to the north east and south west orientation so that wind could enter the basement and pass out through the O.T.S making the building sufficiently ventilated by cool air.
ITM UNIVERSE Central Library: (Enhancing the educational atmosphere of the campus)
o o o
o
o
Concept: The concept of the design was inspired from the college logo. The library was designed on the basis of mainly the term UNIVERSE-Thus circular shaped plan was adopted for the library and has the attributes slightly of a sphere representing as a ball of knowledge right in the Centre of the site The main idea behind the building was to create a library that would blend well with the natural surroundings, thus the approach was to make it feel like it raises from the earth similar to the hill rather than simply look as its been placed there. On the other hand the main building should stand as an iconic structure of ITM-UNIVERSE. o Hot Air o Cool Air

Division of functions
Climatic Process
The building is basically division of sphere into 7 parts by segregating the functions into the main building and the basement and thus entering the building from the centre of the sphere to make it easily accessible.
LOCATION: The site is located in the heart of ITM-UNIVERSE campus
SIDE(North-West Elevation)
o THE FACADE: o
o
o
The design considers bringing in daylight into the building and protection of books from excessive exposure to sun and moisture as important factors. The form of the building is curved to acquire diffused sunlight into the interiors and also allow for wider angle view of books for the readers. Book stacks are placed at a distance from the external walls so that sunlight passes through various zones like reading areas and circulation areas before hitting the stacks.

Naturopathy Centre: (Enhancing the healing power of nature) o CONCEPT: o
o
o o
The concept of the design was to create a naturopathy centre which blends with nature. The main building is designed considering the flood level of Ganga river in recent years, thus placing it on the highest contour. Campus is organized according to different levels of human interactions with nature. The main building is designed around the existing trees on site thus bringing in nature and creating a peaceful buffer zone for healing of patients.
o Waterbody reflecting sun and further turns into a water cascade.
o The main building is U-shaped with a water body in the centre as a focal point.
o All the cottages are placed in the middle of the site for better functioning and the parking is cut deep than the natural slope.
o Rainwater collection system is taken into consideration as a sustainable approach.

The message came clearly to us from the site: “Innovate and create space!” An Abundance of Health, a Healthy Community, Beds Without Boundaries, Everything under One Roof, Harvesting Energy and rain from the nature. The vision of integration across boundaries remains at the core of the concept, as the design anticipate a redefinition of the hospital experience, synchronized with medicine’s own transformation from curative to the redemptive, participatory and personalized. Multispeciality Hospital: (Learning form follows function to its core) o CONCEPT: o
o o
o o
o o
o
“The concept was to create space right at the heart of the site and make the design independent enough to create its own views inside the hospital “ Thus the drop off area is placed in the centre with the hospital all around it. Functioning of the hospital is also kept into consideration along with the shape of the plan. The hospital is divided into 3 parts: The centre one is dedicated to solely the purpose of welcoming the public and has common activities like : X-ray, Radiology, splint store, reception areas within it. The other 2 buildings are divided with same functions, both of them have patient rooms,O.T’s,waiting areas, general wards etc. Each building has a step garden to create a natural surrounding of its own.

DESIGN ELEMENTS: Conducting various site studies following elements were taken into consideration: High Traffic led to the Emergency ward placed near to the entrance. Fire proof glazing system added to fight fire. Building divided into 3 parts due to low light and high shadow levels on the site. Green balconies for collection of rain water. Use of KERTO, as a sustainable wood.

TIME PROBLEMS
1ST YEAR: o PERSONAL SPACE DESIGN (Designing a Relaxing Space in ITM-UNIVERSE)
2ND YEAR: o BRIDGE DESIGN (Designing a Bridge with a new vision)
o GUJARAT TOURISM PAVILLION (Depicting the culture of Gujarat)
o BRIDGE DESIGN
(Transforming structures through design)
o CONCEPT: o o
o
The concept was to create a range of different shadow patterns on a bridge. Thus a covering across a hypothetical bridge was proposed which had cut outs on the sides and glass roofs on top to balance the atmosphere and protection from rain. It had 2 bicycle lanes and walking lanes on both the sides of the road.

Time stands still in the king’s presence – they say and we feel., it is more colorful and brighter than any other area in the city. Time stops the moment the roads become narrow and the buildings come as close as brothers. Time stops when in one lane you get minimum fifty shops narrowly cramped but each explicit with their wares. Time stops when the ruined and dilapidated buildings are still standing tall – at one point in this bustling city of Vadodara which has come so many miles forward in time, Time does stop. Well for every time you spend a moment in the cradle of the city, you are actually walking a mile in the Maharaja’s times. You see when the city was initially crafted this was the major hub and all important spots like the city Gates, the Central court, the Sursagar – everything was crafted around it. If you notice the palace is some way ahead and so is the Central Jail. Old city is one such location where a mix of coexisting lifestyles and architecture can be studied

SHEET 7A:CONCEPTUAL
ANDC 2015
Padmavati complex was one such place where gardens existed previously and it changed to an illegal shopping complex during partition time by the sindhi community. The thought behind not demolishing it and sustaining it was formed by the fact that this building is ultimately a part of our timeline and has a potential to create relaxing spaces and place of congregation for people of every class, which was enhanced by the fact that buildings around it are turning into heritage very soon thus led us towards the rehabilitation of padmavati complex. The motive was to change the stereotype thinking and mentality of people about the downtown of the city and to create a green building out of a existing structure. Thus creating Psychological, environmental and social reevolution.

Impact on users: •
•
• • •
The design aims to bring a change through architecture in the life style of people. Mangal bazar is one such place which has regular mass influx but cannot be thought of getting there by car or sailing through the area easily. The sursagar lake and other heritage sites around are not given the importance and conservation they deserve. There is a no way any relaxing space in the downtown facing sursagar. And the ultimate problem they face is chaos. •

SHEET 9A:CONCLUSION
Padmavati chowk gives us a chance to solve these issues by redesigning it in such a way that it accomodates most of the parking as well as public in it. The cafeteria can be a good relaxing space for the users to wit and talk freely about their social issues. It gives people a platform tofeel ree and make them be on the same level. It increases the economic condition of people by attracting more people. It offers a quite meditation space in the morning. It changes the stereotype thinking of people about the place.
