Rikki Wemega-Kwawu

Takoradi, Ghana

Painter, Installation Artist, Photographer, Art Theorist, Art Historian and Writer I am a well-established Ghanaian Painter, quite internationally renowned. I have exhibited widely and have my works in many private and public collections all over the world. I have been a full-time professional for almost thirty years. I also carry out forays into installation art and photography. I am an alumnus of the prestigious Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine, U.S.A. I am, however, a largely self-taught artist., originally aspiring to study engineering. I am variously described as an Art Theorist, Art Historian and Writer. In my work as an artist, I can be very eclectic, vacillating easily between abstraction and figuration. In all my work, however, I am striving for a style of expression which deals essentially with my concerns and sensibility as an African, my history, politics and cultural heritage, and which at the same time is universally relevant. My work is deeply informed by Jungian Philosoph
