CELEBRATING CULTURE Tourist and cultural hub| site - Tezpur | ad studio | sem5
The brief was to design a Tourist and cultural hub at Tezpur in Assam. The broad programme included accomodation services, information kiosks, food stalls for the tourists as well as exhibition and celebration spaces for the localites to exhibit their culture. The idea was to create a journey for the tourists within the centre to experience the culture of Assam inside the centre. The sectional form was derived after studing the vernacular architecture of the region so as to make the structure respond to its context and look traditional yet contemporary. Local features of verandahs, sloping roofs and deep overhangs were incorporated in the design to make the structure climate responsive and context specific. Top 20 - Rookies 2017

ALTERNATIVE LIVELIHOOD Edible landscape | site - dharavi | landscape studio | sem5
Can the temporal nature of landscape be used not just as an aesthetic quality which changes with time but as a medium to change the life of the people consuming it? Today, with more than half of the population in Mumbai living in slums with no income source and employment opportunities and less than 1.1 sq.m of open space per person, it is vital that every sq. m of open be wisely used. The changing nature of landscape provides an opportunity of utilizing the same space with changing functions. The idea is to transform waste unproductive open space into productive land through the concept of edible landscaping. The project intends on applying urban agriculture as a resource for personal consumption and alternative income generation. Juror’s recommendation award - Isola landscape trophy
