Hi, I'm Tammy. I've been quilting since 1991. I design and self-publish my own quilt patterns under the label Tamarinis. I am a Georgia native and currently live in Acworth with my husband, one fluffy dog, and my favorite fat cat. I LOVE batiks!And that’s awesome, because I design batiks for Riley Blake. My dream was never to be a fabric designer but to create greeting cards. In 1972, I pitched this idea to my high school guidance counselor, who dismissed it, saying an art class grade didn’t make me an artist. It took a while, but in 1988, I launched my greeting card company, My Dream Designs, to prove my counselor wrong. By 1992, my passion for sewing, which I started at age 8, led me to create my quilt pattern company, Pieces From My Heart, and in 1994, I began a fulfilling 25-year career in fabric design. Patience Griffin is the award-winning author of the Kilts & Quilts® series and the Sweet Home, Alaska series, both contemporary quilt fiction with Penguin Random House. She grew up in a small town along the Mississippi River, enjoying life in a close-knit community. Cut all strips are cut across the width of fabric

From each of the 12 Prints –

Cut 2 6⅞” Strips into 8 6⅞” Squares

From Background fabric –Cut 16 6⅞” Strips into 96 6⅞” Squares

Sew

Make Half Square Triangle Units, each with a Print and a Background.

Place a Background square right sides together with a Print.

Draw one pencil line from corner to corner. Stitch ¼” from both sides of the drawn line.

Cut on the drawn line, press toward the print, trim “ears”. Make 12 blocks with these units as shown. For each, use two prints of a color.

There will be 3 different combinations in each color.

Assemble

Lay out and sew the blocks x 4.

Layer a fat quarter 5⅞” square right sides together with a black 5⅞” square. Draw a diagonal line from one corner to the opposite corner. Sew ¼” away from both sides of the drawn line. Cut on the drawn line to yield 2 triangle squares. Make 60 triangle squares.

Sew 2 different triangle squares together as shown. Make 30 units.

Sew a 3”x 10½” rectangle to each side of the unit. Make 30 blocks.

Sew the blocks together, turning every other block as shown.

Sew 10 assorted 2½”x 5½” end to end. Make 2 pieced strips. Sew the strips to the top and bottom of the quilt.
