At this time of year, I always think I should be super-organised, having started working on our lovely Simply Scandi Christmas Special back in July. But then I see so much, with my mind a constant whirl of all of the beautiful brands and products I’ve discovered throughout the year… and the gifts I haven’t yet bought. Luckily, I’ve been able to give myself a little reminder this year, editing our Simply Scandi Christmas Gift Guide FREE mini mag.
I do love wrapping gifts once I’ve bought them though, spending an evening or two sat in front of my Christmas tree, adding those personal touches. Check out our wrapping ideas on page 22.
If you’re looking for a great gift idea (or suggestion for your own Christmas list!), then we offer a four-issue subscription to Simply Scandi delivered direct to your Scandi-loving bestie’s door. What a great treat to find on waiting on your doormat in 2023!

Make the wrapping part of the present, using a scarf, napkin or teatowel to conceal what’s inside. The Japanese art of Furoshiki is a lovely way to wrap any package with fabric – and comes in very handy for those more trickier gift shapes.
Choose a reversible wrap to speed things up (there’s no need to keep changing rolls of paper!). You can also make a feature of the underside of the paper, folding the edge back to reveal.
Splash out on the trim and save on the paper with inexpensive kraft paper. Ribbon, natural string or even delicate braiding can transform a simply-wrapped gift into something really special.
Use foliage to lend a natural Scandi touch. Add a cutting of fragrant eucalyptus or pine, popping under the string or ribbon, along with the gift tag.
Tie on a decoration as a lovely ‘extra’ gift. Look for metal or paper star or tree shapes that work with your wrapping’s theme. These can then be added to the recipient’s own Christmas decoration stash. Mini honeycomb paper decorations are a great find too, and come in such pretty shades.
FAR LEFT Decorations and ribbons, from a selection, iblaursen.dk

Try pairing a blush pink ribbon with brown paper
Keep gifts neat in a sack, hanging up on a peg rail, which can be dressed with foliage and decorations. Pop in wrapped presents as you do them, keeping a sack for separate households, making the gift swap easy.
Arrange gifts in a basket and pop under your tree – the basket makes it easy to find those presents needed when friends comea-Christmas-calling. Alternatively, line up several baskets under your console table.
Think about the tag and either gift a lovely handmade wooden tag engraved with the recipient’s name, or stamp plain luggage labels with Scandi-style stamps. Continue the vibe with the same treatment for your festive table’s place settings.
Build up your wrappings stash saving any pretty ribbons, offcuts of string and tissue paper that you receive, to be reused for your gifts for Christmases to come.
Use brown paper food bags sealed with a wooden peg and sprig of fresh foliage for a speedy wrap solution. This is a great idea for any homemade edible gifts too.
