the dark Abayas, and translucent partitions that diffuse sunlight and create intrigue around the space. The surfaces that define the space also react to the floor and ceiling in various ways. The partitions imply continuity in circulation and in elevation by raising them off the ground, and also they continue through the ceiling to emphasize height.

03 SALT OASIS Concept restaurant
Salt oasis is a destination restaurant concept that takes its guests on a journey through the desert. Located in the sandy section of the Diplomatic quarter in Riyadh, this eatery is veiled with a mesh cloak to cause intrigue and provide shelter from the hard sun and dust storms. The experience of the interior mimics the overwhelming greenery of an oasis set against a neutral concrete canvas.

04 SALT MARINA In Mall Restaurant This branch of the SALT restaurant franchise is an experiment to break away from the bold branding of and instead, become more site specific. Located inside Marina mall in Dubai, the idea was to create a contemporary nautical interior which fit the feeling of the marina adjacent to the site, and seen from the terrace. The challenge of this space was to achieve :SNOISIVER
several textures and finishes which make this project tactile just as much as it is visual. Year: 2020 Location: Dubai, UAE Size: 105 sqm Stage: Completed

The entrance of the restaurant is backdropped with the dark cladding of the kitchen wall and contrasted with a creme toned bar area. The ceiling here is lowered and exposed with timber studs. Scaffolding set-up 3x3m cubes of scaffolding erected on site to contain the activations of the event. This allows the pop-up to be disassembled and transported easily to the next site.
Concept Pop-up This pop-up commissioned for SALT prioritizes experience and engagement over food consumption. The requirements were to erect a fast and scalable space which serves as a main attraction at a Dubai event. Therefore the monochromatic intent envelopes the guests while they are guided throughout to participate in the activations. The cubic feature of the space allows partitions to be clipped on and subtracted accordingly and the dining areas are placed within the vegetation to provide a different enveloped feeling

The ground floor housed all the day-to-day programs in one half of the house and a public occasional Majlis space in the other half. The client requested for a heavily finished interior design using dark colors and rich materials. The walk-in closet is inspired by high-end brands stores. The material palette is therefore rich and luxurious. The space also has a handbag display wall, a vanity, lounge space, and different storage options. Year: 2018 Location: Dubai, UAE Stage: Concept

09 Office of Sustainability Design/ Build office space This was a comprehensive design/build project completed using the in-house university workshops. The clients commissioned the IDE batch of 2018 to design a modern office space that reflected the philosophy of the department, therefore the chosen materials were approximately 70% construction waste, 20% recycled materials and 10% new but sustainable, with a large communal work table for flexible use. entrance and the space, which serves as a standing desk and storage shelving wall, from which focus lighting is suspended. The central area holds a communal table made of 4 concrete units, this encourages collaboration and saves space. Lastly, a live green wall is grown on a re-purposed rebar grid which holds pots inside PVC pipes, adjacent to is a stepped lounge area using the same re-purposed timber notch system.

10 HAMAMA Suspended ceiling installation This installation challenges the materiality of the acrylic it´s made from and becomes an organic expression of a controlled agitation of this flock of doves, which sprouts from its core. This analogue parametric sculpture is made up of tri-part units which have been heat bent into dynamic shapes, linked together in order to generate its visual dynamism. Section intent
Unit Primary units have a translucent material quality, the clear acrylic secondary units add a subtle texture to the installation as it dissipates towards the edges.
Unit split into fins
Unit A
Unit B
Unit C
Assembled to make module
Core The 3 units of acrylic were joined with male-female screws to form the “core” of the installation which would be the primary structural element of the sculpture
75
Parametrized modules The design intent was then achieved by aggregating the unit to create the desired experience.
Hoisting mechanism Another independent rope is latched onto the counterweight with a free end to help distribute the weight of the installation and provide the handler a mechanism to hoist the sculpture up/down for cleaning and maintenance.

Suspension and stopper mechanism The wooden counterweight & acrylic sculpture are connected by three strong nylon fabric ropes by virtue of pulleys mounted on a triangular steel plate. Wooden stopper Anchor Counter weight elements

11 UN-RUBBLE Emergency Operation Center Competition Entry This competition prompted the design of a structure that will house an Emergency Operations Center and that can help to facilitate the humanitarian operations of international organizations, allowing them to act with the utmost efficiency, in Sub-Saharan Africa.
80
The approach to designing the Emergency Operation Center was driven by an intention to re-sue the fragments left over from sites of destruction and neglect as well as integrating natural preexisting debris. Thus, the evocation of the project title: Un-Rubble, wherein the rearrangement of chaos results in the creation of a functional entity and the revitalization of a community. The design philosophy of Un-Rubble revolves around its versatility and adaptability to be erected on various landscapes and site conditions. The design system allows for the construction of semi-permanent and durable building modules through the use of gabion baskets integrated with a timber structure.

An important quality of the EOC is its structural integrity against natural disasters. Therefore, the use of durable vernacular materials informed the design of Un-Rubble. The versatility of the use of a gabion basket system allows the adoption of vernacular materials regardless of the location.
82
This project utilizes rubble, debris and land material as the infill of the walls. The remaining elements are low cost prefabricated timber beams and aluminum sheets which are readily available.

Construction assembly of the units This temporary building is split into scalable modules. This stressed on the on-site assembly and bolting of its elements. Moreover, the modules can be disassembled, re-purposed and transported to another site if needed.
