NOTE : * When you take your watch off the power reserve is approx 24 to 36 hours. 41

SCREW CROWN (if applicable) To change the time settings, the screw crown of your watch must first be unscrewed, as follows... 1. Make sure your watch is completely dry; 2. CHARGING YOUR WATCH: Your watch was fully charged at the factory so it should be powered up to wear, but for future charging please read on. Expose the watch to sunlight or strong artificial light and it will start operating immediately with the second hand moving at 2-second intervals. Keep the watch exposed to the light until second hand moves at 1second intervals. CAUTION WHEN CHARGING: When charging, make sure the watch temperature does not exceed 50c. When charging the watch in sunlight, do not leave it on the dashboard of a car as the watch temperature could become extremely high and damage the watch. Do not place your watch too close to a photoflash light, spotlight, incandescent light or other light sources as the watch temperature could become extremely high, causing damage to the watch.

46

GUIDELINE OF CHARGING TIME REQUIRED:

Condition A: for full charge Condition B: for steady operation Condition C: to maintain 1-day usage The values in this column represent the charging times required until the second hand moves constantly at 1-second. Note: Even if the watch is not charged for the time specified above, the second hand may temporarily move at 1-second intervals. But, it will soon resume moving at 2-second intervals. Therefore you must charge the watch for the specified period. When the watch is fully charged, it will keep operating for approximately 6 months.

47

HOW TO SET TIME:

Time setting Unscrew the crown as shown above then pull crown out to the 2nd click position, change the time, push crown back in fully, then carefully screw the crown in slowly to reseal your watch (fig.3). Never force the screw. Advance Setting Technique: When setting the minute hand, first advance it 4 to 5 minutes ahead of the desired time and then turn it back to the exact minute. HOW TO SET DATE:

It is necessary to adjust the date on the first day after a 30-day month and February. NOTE: Energy depletion forewarning function When the energy stored in the watch is reduced to an extremely low level, the second hand starts moving at 2-second intervals instead of the normal 1-second intervals. In that case, recharge the watch as soon as possible by exposing it to light. Otherwise, the watch may stop operating in about 3 days. To prevent the energy depletion wear the watch so that it is not covered by your clothes. When the watch is not in use, leave it in a bright place as long as possible. * Make sure that the watch temperature does not exceed 50C. Note: Power supply Your watch contains a rechargeable capacitor, so unlike conventional battery-powered watches, battery replacement is not necessary. The solar cell is a clean energy source, having no adverse effect on the natural environment. Caution: Never try to insert a conventional silver oxide battery in your watch as it may explode, generate an intense heat, or even catch fire.

CHANGING STRAPS

M AT T W I L K I N S O N

LEATHER / PU STRAPS To Change Your Strap: To change your watch strap use a pin or paperclip to gently push the solid pins through the case pin holes.

At the same time, carefully pull on the strap until the bar releases. When fitting your new strap ensure the bars are seated well by tugging on both ends before you wear your watch. Note: Rip Curl leather straps are made of the finest oiled leather for long life. But despite other’s claims, real leather cannot be made 100% waterproof. Don’t wear leather in any water. For water use, replace your leather strap with a suitable waterproof rubber or velcro strap, Stainless Steel Straps are waterproof.

79

Use a thumb tack firmly push out the first split-pin in the direction of the arrow. Fig.1 3. Pull out the split pin fully. The strap now comes apart. Repeat this step for each link to be removed. Fig.2 4. Now align the two ends of the strap and replace the pin in the opposite direction of the arrow. Be sure to note the correct end of the split pin to insert. Fig.3 5. Firmly press the pin back into place using a hard object. Next lightly tap the pin fully into place. Fig.4 Repeat steps 2 to 5 on other side of band
