Welcome to Ripon College! Transfer Summer Orientation will be held soon. This is a terrific opportunity for you and your family to learn about Ripon, select courses you’d like to take in the fall, ask questions and meet other students at Ripon College. This newsletter has been designed to assist you in preparing for your orientation session. When you arrive in Ripon, proceed directly to Todd Wehr Lobby. You may check in between 9 and 9:15 a.m. Welcome folders and name tags will be distributed at check-in. Please contact us if you have any questions before you arrive. Advising and Advance Registration Advising is a very important part of your Ripon experience. Your academic advisor is here to assist you as you select your courses, to help you choose those courses which will fulfill your graduation requirements and, at the same time, help you achieve your personal academic goals. You will have an individual meeting with your advisor during Orientation. These meeting times will be pre-arranged; when you arrive for Orientation, you will find your appointment time in your welcome folder. The individual meetings will include a review of your high school and college work, discussion of your interest in particular courses, majors and minors, and advance registering for the fall semester. Advance registering will give you a tentative idea of what your fall schedule will look like. After your advising meeting, you will return your registration form to the Registrar’s Office for processing. You will receive a confirmation of
classes based on your registration form when you arrive for Welcome Week, which begins Aug. 20. Some of the courses you selected during the summer may be full. You also may want to change classes or sections once you receive your schedule. The day before classes begin is registration day. If you don’t have changes to make in your schedule, the registration process only takes about five minutes. Even with significant changes, it should take you less than half an hour. Your advisor will be there to answer any questions that you have about the process. After you have a final schedule worked out, secure your advisor’s signature, turn in your registration form and some additional forms, and your registration will be complete. All students must attend registration the morning of Aug. 21 in order to validate their schedules, even though you will have registered in advance for classes.

Meals
Your Summer Orientation registration fee includes meals for you and your registered guest. A light breakfast will be provided during check-in, and lunch will be provided by Ripon’s food service, Sodexo Food Services. Vegetarian options will be offered. If you or a family member have specific dietary needs, please inform an Orientation staff member when you check in.
Answers to Frequently Asked Questions Where do I check in for Summer Orientation?
When you arrive in Ripon, go directly to Todd Wehr Hall. You may check in between 9 and 9:15 a.m.
How can people contact us while we’re at Summer Orientation?
Ripon’s summer conference staff will be on duty throughout the program. Messages can be relayed to orientation participants by calling 920-748-8111. If no one is at this number, call the conference staff two-way pager at 920-748-8703. Listen to the instructions, state your message, stay on the line and a staff member will respond to the call.
Can I see the room I’ll live in next year?
Housing assignments will not be prepared until after Summer Orientation. Please feel free to discuss with the Director of Residence Life any “updates” you wish to include on your previously submitted Housing Application Form. This will allow us to have the most current information available to complete housing assignments. Brochures with room dimensions will be distributed during the program. An optional tour of select residence halls will be available.
What time can I depart?
Departure times will vary depending on your individual advising appointment and any tasks you’d like to complete while on campus. Advising appointments are randomly assigned, and you will find your time in your welcome folder. Appointments may be scheduled through 4 p.m.
Is parking readily available during Summer Orientation?
Yes. Parking is available in most campus lots and along city streets not designated as no-parking zones. Permits are not needed to park on campus during Summer Orientation.
Will sessions be held in air-conditioned rooms?
Most sessions will take place in air-conditioned buildings.
