1. Reference Army Regulation 600-8-10, 15 February 2006, Leaves and Passes. 2. III Corps and Fort Hood will observe the following public holidays and training holidays during FY2012. a. Public holidays to be observed: 10 October 2011, Columbus Day 11 November 2011, Veterans Day 24 November 2011, Thanksgiving Day 26 December 2011, Christmas holiday for pay and leave purposes 02 January 2012, New Year’s holiday for pay and leave purposes 16 January 2012, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday 20 February 2012, Presidents’ Day 28 May 2012, Memorial Day 04 July 2012, Independence Day 03 September 2012, Labor Day b. Training Holidays: 07 October 2011 (Friday before Columbus Day) 14 November 2011 (Monday after Veterans Day) 25 November 2011 (Friday after Thanksgiving Day) 23 December 2011 (Friday before Christmas Holiday) 30 December 2011 (Friday before New Year’s Holiday) 13 January 2012 (Friday before Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day) 17 February 2012 (Friday before Presidents’ Day) 15 March 2012 (Thursday of Spring Break) 16 March 2012 (Friday of Spring Break) 06 April 2012 (Good Friday)

09 April 2012 (Easter Monday) 25 May 2012 (Friday before Memorial Day) 15 June 2012 (Friday) 03 August 2012 (Friday) 06 August 2012 (Monday) 31 August 2012 (Friday before Labor Day) c. Consistent with the mission and operational requirements, the days in subparagraph 2b above are training holidays for military personnel. Civilian personnel may, at their request, be granted annual leave, compensatory time, or leave without pay for an absence. Maximum use of leave is encouraged. d. The Christmas/New Year’s holiday period is 19 December 2011 through 02 January 2012 (15 days). Traditionally, III Corps is minimally staffed during the Christmas/New Year’s holiday period. Minimum staffing days provide opportunity for Soldiers/employees to enjoy the holidays by taking leave or using compensatory time. 2.
