Designed for the needs of designers, the District’s offices will forge an active design community and meet contemporary business needs. Treating the three blocks, South, Core and North as 3 points along a journey, a narrative is formed that describes the process of creation from raw material to working prototype to finished product. The interior concepts have been developed in relation to the landscape design concept of Deco - Post Modernism. An emphasis has been placed on the key focal areas, Front of House and Lobbies.

The projects presented are heritage and government projects, with the common goal of promoting the heritage and culture of the Emiratis. As all examples are government–funded projects, it is mandatory that they meet the Pearl Rating requirement of sustainability, as detailed in the UPC Estidama document. No submission can be done to the ADM(Abu Dhabi Municipality) until the project has been approved by the Urban Planning Council(UPC). The overall designs were taken into consideration to meet such requirements, such as materials, shading, parking, safety and security, environmental assessment, water and energy usage, and showcasing regional/ cultural practices, among many others.

Set to open in 2010, there will also be plenty of hospitality and shopping to go along with the rides, not to mention the 300,000 sq.m. retail complex adjacent to the structure. During concept and scheme design stages of Ferrari World building, Yas Island Draft Environmental Design Guidelines were taken into consideration. For example, the roof and perimeter façade was designed to reduce glare and heat. Other considerations were also integrated into the design such as utilities, health and safety, acoustic impact, to mention a few.

The client, being musicians, wanted a modern but abstracted neo-classical theme. Geometric forms come into play in the shape of circles and curves at the façade, but at the same time hints of conventionality appear through the hip-gable roof, its fascia following the perimeter of the façade. To give the exterior volume and depth, synthetic stone slate was applied at the undercroft level, to serve as a base for light textured finish above it. The sloping site added to the dynamic encounter as one explored around the house , with a landscaped garden complementing the structure.

The term presentation can have a broad meaning. In this portfolio’s context, it refers namely to 3D presentation and graphical presentation that is used to assist the client’s understanding of the project and design concept. Under AEC, my scope focused on presentation projects related to lighting. Under Benoy, my scope focused on client brief presentation which included presentation of proposed design concepts developed in Sketchup and consolidated in a Powerpoint presentation.
