Starting A New Club

STARTING A NEW CLUB RIT welcomes new clubs throughout the year! How to get started:

Club Review Board

The Club Review Board meets weekly during the year to discuss new groups. The board is comprised of student clubs and two advisors.

Intent to Form Application

Visit the Center for Campus Life webpage at www.rit.edu/studentaffairs/campuslife, and then Clubs & Organizations Form a Club. Read over the instructions on this to get your group started. Submit the first part of the Intent to Form Application.

Find an Advisor

If your application is approved, find an advisor! Advisors must be full time faculty or staff at RIT.

Recruit Members

Recruit ten students, with signatures, to join your organization. Hold a general meeting to get students interested. Your group has the ability to reserve a meeting location for up to three months – at that point you need to submit the second step of the application and meet the requirements or your application is no longer valid.

Club Recognition Form

Complete the second portion of the Intent to Form Application once the previous steps have been met – the Club Recognition Form. Once reviewed, you will be contacted to present in-person at the Club Review Board and to answer any questions the students may have.

Meet with the Club Center Staff

If your club is approved, you’ll be required to meet with the Club Center to discuss club policy and procedure before any activity can occur. From there you’ll also need to create a constitution (Samples are available). If your club is NOT approved there is an appeal process. Your treasurer will need to meet with the Finance Staff too.

Getting Started!
